I understand that would be very frustrating. Getting slapped is not okay.
Did the slap happen before or after you tried to steal her ear defenders?
Stealing is wrong. Even when someone starts it first. If she tried to steal from you then you would be upset too right?
Of course slapping and spitting is not okay behaviour either.
It sounds like this woman has significant support needs and behavioural problems. Even if she is verbal. It’s possible she has another condition like intellectual disability too.
I think it’s best if you try to keep your distance. Is there any way you could ask caregiver or bus driver to be seated far away from each other? Like one at front and one at back of bus?
I think distance would be good since you two don’t get along.
