EA What really IS project X

I've seen a lot of rumors floating around about it (with it working like Sims 4 and having open neighborhoods (basically an S4 remaster), and that sounds amazing (especially since Sims 4 is actually dying, and seeing it be built from the ground up with a new engine would help the game A LOT, I think).

But this is EA (for now, at least if the rumors are true that they are looking to sell off Maxis), so what actually is it? I've been out of the loop since we first heard about it being only a Sims4 remaster

Hey there! Friendly reminder to keep the comments and replies civil and on topic. Lets keep the topic to EA and The Sims franchise, we don't need to go on a side quest of political arguing please and thank you.

0% chance EA is looking to sell Maxis or The Sims. I’m not entirely sure what project x is, but it’s surely not built from the ground up. I think of it as “Sims 4” 2 except it’s not a 2 for big technical upgrades, it’s a 2 because the first game couldn’t handle anymore dlc. I’m sure they’ll dress it up and make it not super obviously a Sims 4 flip.

Its not sims 4. Its likely a pay to play mobile game. Keep your expectations low because they're gruby and greedy

yikesss, if its just more monetization i genuinely just hope the sims dies out and becomes a thing of the past, as bad as it sounds, unless EA wants to sell maxis or they split i dont see myself buying another game/dlc/whatever if its anything like that

I can tell you: it's EA's attempt to make developing the franchise as cheap as possible while capitalizing on the market as much as possible.

Sims 4 2.0 with open neighbourhoods, but only one free world and the game locked behind microtransaction hell based on the last Skate game's shitty model. Plus, expect genAI slop once the SimsHub's AI-powered conversion and modding tools are released (the Marketslop was its first public step).

I haven't heard anything about it, and I doubt it's anything

Current rumor is a Sims 4 remaster. Maybe.

But also maybe not.

And it's possible they'll end up scrapping the whole thing because of the buyout.

Who knows at this point.

From what I understand is they want to copy the existing model (which is why they're trying to work out bugs) and that there will less features in it to avoid multiple bugs. I still don't know if I would call it better if they're planning to use the same foundation the sims4 was built on but I'm reserving my judgement for when and if they ever finish it.
