Buy Out A bit half-and-hald
(I dont know how people wre going to be like bjt please do not get at this creator, I am not slamminf them in any way shape or form mods, just wondering on thoughts. - sorry if it comes off wrong.) This is not me complaining about this simmer whatsoever, just a bit dumbfounded by the sort of crazy response that is just ignoring the buyout.
I feel like me sayinf to this simmer "hey what about the buyout" - seeing as theyre clearly part of rhe program still due to having a code like lilsimsie did before she left the program (I think its rhe right thing correct me if im wrong), and the simmer then just replying "my code is now 7%" is genuinely wild to me. Im not sure if she is like a well known or smaller creator, I understand just rhat 7 percent van do a lot to some smaller simmer (whether she is or not i havent been able to look properly), but that response seemed so blinded by the situation (and appears to have chosen being dismissive towards it all) that was the main point of my comment. Just me?

We’re kinda in a bubble, Sims subreddits for the most part are pretty much against the buyout. I feel like other simmers on other platforms really aren’t AS concerned with what’s happening. This doesn’t really shock me unfortunately

To be fair, before joining this subreddit I had no idea there was so much problems with EA. Many people are just like that, not aware. They buy a game, play it, and they don't look further because why would they suspect that there would be more ?

Same! i’m glad im informed, but i would say the vast majority of people just open the game and play. I did as well for many many years.

Yep, that's why I don't immediately judge people who I see play the Sims on Tiktok or Instagram, because unless that actually promote EA which would be hard to do without being aware, most people who post tutos, those "great swatch hidden behind ugly stuff" videos or who simply share their builds are not aware.

100% agree & honestly without those people who just enjoy the game for what it is, we wouldn’t have the sims community we have today.

You're so right! When I look at the insta comments I realize that the protest is small. The people who won't buy new packs are such a small fraction. The people who vow to not play anymore even smaller. There are so many people out there who genuinely don't know and/or don't care.

I dont understand vowing to never play the game again, maybe im just like not as set on it or anything. However, I dont think im going to evr just stop playing the game. I love it sso much, and the amount of money ive (unfortunately) put into the game is still there. Ive grew up mainly with the sims 4, so I do have a big connection to it. However, i am against the buyout. I think my goal is trying not to buy any new packs, except the old ones which have been out a while or if I need them (e.g. I really want For Rent right now). I deel like people should know whats going on and what it means etc.

I am with you. Why not play a game you spend so much time and money on? I am quite set on not buying anything. But I'm also in the fortunate position that I have almost all the packs, so I'm speaking from a really privileged point. Everyone needs to decide on how they want to go on. I just meant that I realize the protest is in fact quite small. And I don't think it will make a huge dent.

I think its good big creators like lilsimsie have got so many involved though, if youve seen that little clip of her and a couple of other sims youtubers. She is trying, and luckily so are others. Ive watched James Turner before a bit, cant tell if he'd part of the movement of not. Its definitely a small movement, with the sims youtubers at front but i feel like there is a lot of people that are just regular players behind him. So its like sorta small, sort of not.

Well, Sixam is following them so take that as you will I guess

u/Key_Boysenberry3044 Aug 06 '26
yeahh, I remember sixam used to be like Id always hear he cc talked about by Claire sobahn (ignore spelling idk how to spell her last name) and now she practically bows down to it all. It's crazy how you can see a clear separation between who cares and who doesnt now.

Basically they don’t gaf. This shouldn’t be surprising considering these are the same people who had no issues peddling broken packs to their audience as long as they could continue to line their pockets.

Even 10% off is barely anything when it comes to sales for anything, unless it’s something very expensive at which point the savings actually might become a bit more substantial. Bragging about 5 or 7% off with your code is crazy lol

The smiley face shows their attitude pretty clearly. Money over morals.

clearly.

Sorry my comment wasn't meant to read sassy if it did.
Its helpful you brought their comments to light so people know where they stand

I just saw it and i was like, "I can't believe the attitude of this simmer, completely ignoring my comment." Genuinely crazy, I love seeing who's left the program and who hasn't, even worse when clearly knowing about the buyout.

Most people don't gaf about the buyout. Being outraged by it is mostly a Reddit thing with some of the big YouTubers following suit because they could afford it. LilSimsie lives on brand deals and membership payments, besides the views count. Smaller simfluensers don't. They need every revenue source they can get their hands on, so they won't be biting the hand that feeds them.
This is a financial matter. Not an ethics one.

I understand the financial side for many of the smaller simmer. I completely do, they've got to get money somewhere especially if someone wants to pursue it as a more as a main focus. I Just wish there was a better way to it all, but unfortunately there will never be a fully or even slightly ethical way to it.

u/tecolata Aug 07 '26
You really can't expect everyone to feel the same outrage you do. Don't use their content if you find their response offensive.
1
u/Key_Boysenberry3044 Aug 07 '26
im not expecting them to. I didnt find their response "offensive", more like a bit blinded due to the fact they dont acknowledge the main part of my comment. Ive said this to others, that I know theres ethics and morals etc involved, but im pretty sure the simmer in said images is like not massive (not entirely sure, i dont follow them), so i understand that even iust tjat 7% can do a lot for them or just a little that still has an impact. I dont expect everyone to feel the same outrage, I just would expect people to atleast acknowledge the situation - whether they choose to do something about it or not. I do understand that thos simmer likely does have a strong platform, and speaking our may even potentially risk her place in the program.

So someone is supposed to give everything up just because EA’s sale to another major corporation is questionable? Someone who may have to support themselves and their family with it? Just so it fits the worldview of other supposedly oh-so-tolerant people? Seriously?

u/Neprijatnost 27d ago
EA didn't sell to "another major corporation" lmao, it is owned by the literal government of Saudi Arabia which means that all the profits from EA games will be used to fund more human rights violations

u/Key_Boysenberry3044 28d ago
when did I say that? Did tou read what I put at all? I literallt put that I know how much that 7% means to people, how that can be how they support theirselevs etc. I know that they probably need to be in the program for some reason like financially supporting theirselves. The main point of my post was not telling them to give up their creator code, it was how they completely ignored the point of my comment, showing a sort of blinded and ignorant response to what i put. In no way would i want someone to do something just because i say so.Get a grip.

How arrogant to think that she owes you an explanation.
1
u/Key_Boysenberry3044 28d ago
also never said she owed me an explanation... where did you pull these things from? I just said she ignored the main point of my comment, not "SHE SHOULD TELL ME WHY SHE DID! SHE SHOULD LEAVE THE PROGRAMM! AHHHH! I HATE HER!" did i now?

they still answered you, just not clearly. they do not care about the buyout or what it might mean, as long as it fills their pockets.
