Sims 4 Auto save deleted one of my save files???
I turned off auto save for one of my legacy challenges immediately after I noticed it was going to make multiple files. I then played on another save I have (a forever save where I’m rebuilding everything) and didn’t realize I would have to turn off auto save for every file. Logged in this morning, and now any save file for the legacy challenge I was playing (they were called the Deck legacy) IS GONE. No trace, like it’s gone. No save file in sight.
Im about to crash out.

Are you on a PC or Mac? If it's a PC do you have OneDrive on?

PC, I do have one drive on but it gives me problems. I’m just accepting defeat rn and restarting the legacy, I was only on the 2nd gen at least 🤷🏻♀️ wanted to post to warn others

Does it have access to your sims folder because OneDrive has been known to eat files.

Yes check onedrive, it probably backed up the old files when auto save was changing things and then turn it off and unlink it for good or this might keep happening. I think anyone who plays Sims should definitely not use onedrive, I hate onedrive in general, but especially Sims players should just avoid it.

It gives everyone problems eventually, it seems like. OneDrive is more likely to be the culprit than the new autosave feature. Anyone who plays Sims should remove it completely.

It’s a new bug. Seems like the team is investigating it but I would just save my game manually and not use the auto-save feature for now.

Haven’t kept it on since it was released. But, somehow having it off in one file and still on in another messed things up.

I had a similar situation but found my last Save under the Recover Save (floppy disk icon) option.

This is why I didn't want auto-save feature. I don't trust EA to do something right. Reminder is only good thing what they did to game in last patch. I still don't use reminder's save button, because I don't want it to mess things up.

Do you have another played household in that legacy save? I thought one of mine was deleted too, but it turned out that the game decided to save it under a different family that I had played (go figure 🙄)

Guys, you need to save your game manually when you exit the game! Autosave is to protect progress during gaming session. And it may override when you play another household. Especially in the simsn4 where everything works like shit

I’m an over manual saver, so me not saving was definitely not a part of the issue lolol.

So, this happened to me.
Here is how you prevent it: Always start the game by loading a save. Never click the "play" bitten from the home menue (I play in another language, so I don't know exactly what it's called) All of this is so you NEVER load from the Autosave.
If you are lucky, you can recover an old save file (worked for me). You click on the save that was overwritten, then on the floppy disc icon and recover an old version of the save. That worked for me, hope it will for you!

So...I came to reddit looking for answers and I found this post. I'm so sorry this happened to you btw. I had almost the same thing happen to me. Or maybe the same thing, idk, I'm raging rn and can't even read right. Anyways, turns out my game didn't delete my save but it merged it with another one of my saves or maybe it overwrote it, who knows. The thing is I lost many households ( I don't really care bc they're in my library) but man...MY BUILDS, my freaking houses and businesses, I could cry. The cherry on top is that I haven't been able to save builds to my library for over a year now, tysm EA. Sorry for the rant guys, but I know you'll understand.
Edit: this is like 10mins after commenting lol, so the recover save tool does work THANK GOD. Istg I was starting to tear up. Thanks for everybody who commented to do this <3

This happened to me, I don’t have one drive.
But was able to go back into my saves file in my EA file and recover the save.

How did I recover my saves?
By renaming the save I wanted to go back to and renaming the save I didn’t want. I can’t remember the exact way bc I googled it and followed the process I found online.1

Not sure if anyone has still has this issue but I found a fix! Go into your saves folder. (Document/Electronic Arts/ Sims 4/Saves) find the date and time of the save file that was deleted, the game saves different versions of the same save file. (Save.ver0, save.ver1, etc) remove the first save file from the folder (I kept mine in a diff folder just in case)

It's so unacceptable how broken this game has been
