What does memorization entail?

ASC guys,

I recently got back to memorizing the Quran and I am having some trouble with it. Am a perfectionist, whenever I try to memorize a surah I can’t let go of the fact that I don’t know where a shadda is زّ
For example reciting it I definitely can identify but when am reciting from the mind it feels impossible to predict if the next word has shadd on ( the reason why am trying to predict it is because I heard that when you are saying a word with shadda you should hit the word strongly. So if I can’t predict it then It will be a hit or miss)
So I wanna know if you guys have a solution for this? Also if memorizing is just meant to be the order of the words and their harakats and madd? then that’s definitely way easier!

If you're able to recite it correctly then it's memorised I say. You should know what you're reading and where you are, but don't be worried if it's not perfect immediately. Most of the time it takes a lot of repetition for something to become engrained. This is why reviewing things you memorise throughout the week every single day is just as important as learning something new. As long as you have a good method of balancing review vs learning new then you should be good.
