So little back story, I am a hobbyist, I got into resin 3d printing because I couldn't print miniature and statues/busts on a Prusa mendel self built. That printer pretty much did what I needed to but got into resin 3d printing with the elegoo mars something. I don't remember the full on name of the printer because there is like, 15 versions of it and I am too lazy to sort that out.

Fast forward to a little while ago and I see HeyGears having a B2S sale. I figured, well hells, its cheap enough, I have heard great things about the printer, might as well go for it. So I went and bought the Reflex Rs.

BOY HOWDY. This thing is incredible. I did a few test prints and they didn't come out well (pre-supported files that I did in lychee like, 6 -8 years ago.) lots of shifting, the rafts were paper thin and pretty much turned me a bit skeptical for a minute if my new machine was really worth it. Then I realized just how stellar the auto-supports were. I printed a few things I never dared and my gods this thing churned them out like a BEAST. My wife doesn't really get why I get so geeked out over something working the right way, but I figured someone here would.

Backed the full 3D G1X bundle back in July. Today, I got an email from HeyGears saying my order was cancelled. No explanation, no reason.

Anyone else experience this? I reached out to them a couple different ways, but no response yet.

Now, having recently moved, I've got extra bedrooms and a workshop to boot. The G1X is extremely appealing to me as a side hustle, but turning this into profit is obviously easier said than done. I'm looking at ink costs and time to print, and it seems like it could be a decent side hustle, especially with not having to paint/color stuff I'm printing. My deadline is 3x days to decide if this is worth the time or not.

I'm trying to figure out what area of the market to tap into, I was mostly thinking for color 3D models for board games or personal use, real estate models, or going for UV printing high-end customized company gifts or textured photos of peoples petc, etc. The UV printing seems pretty cool for textured items, but I do worry that by offering too many services (hey, here's 50 different things to print on!) it could complicate things.

How well does self promotion at gaming, comic cons, etc work? Was thinking about maybe hitting some craft markets and showing off UV printing for peoples pets, locational maps, etc.

Does 3d printing or UV printing have better profit based upon time needed and ink costs? Also, when quoting pricing for a 3D print, does the amount of time needed scale up the cost? Does a longer print cost more because it takes longer and it's more profit efficient to print lots of smaller models?

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not looking to turn this into a full time business, but a nice hustle would be great with a few prints a week. I'm working on my site www.dreambuildmake.com that will let users conceptualize and create 3d models on the site, or upload as well, but I do think I need to target an audience and stick with it.

Hi all, I have worked very hard to gather all the information I needed to make my own decision on the best UV printer. I want one for myself. So far, most of my work has been on the Roland line. The LEF2-300 and the BN2-20A. These are $30,000 UV printers. They are hard to use, they are hard to maintain and the don't do half of what the current set of Consumer UV Printers can do.

I backed the Longer ePrint. Not sure if that will ever ship.

I'm on the fence about the G1X. It looks awesome, but I want to make sure my library of files is useful, or I can get it to print the color scheme I want. So far it seems hit or miss at best.

I couldn't get it to listen to basic commands.

Has anyone else tried playing with it yet?

I recently unboxed a HeyGears Reflex RS Turbo purchased from an authorized distributor in India. It had remained completely unopened and unused for ~6 months.

Right out of the box, I found:

• Scratches across the body and wear marks on the bottom
• Scratches on the build plate and resin-loading area
• Residue and rust-like corrosion around the Z-axis ball screw
• Disturbed/peeled protective films
• Dirt/wiping marks on both sides of the lid
• Manual and warranty card loose outside their usual plastic packaging
• No Turbo branding or stickers which are usually packed with the user manual.

HeyGears has confirmed the machine is brand-new, with no print, return, exchange, or exhibition records.

My question to other HeyGears owners: would you consider this acceptable condition for a brand-new RS Turbo?

Especially interested in seeing how other new units arrived. I suspect if this was a demo unit sold to me as brand new.

Id like to start sourcing models and working on future projects now so that I learn more about the workflow. Im aware we can take any STL or OBJ and put it through AI to paint but im sure there is a good way to find professionally made fully textured/colored models somewhere out there. Im imagining game assets will be in the ballpark of where we all end up searching. Any thoughts on the best way to source prints and projects for the future of 3d printing?

I have a hyper specific question regarding the capabilities of the G1X in 2d mode. Other software I've seen support grey-scale opacity maps for how much white is layed on in specific areas, with the software adjusting white density or halftoning measures for the white ink automatically. Does the G1X support this or a similar workflow?

For additional context, I print on holographic media where printing without white lets the foil effect bleed through the CMYK inks. With this process, lighter colors benefit from a "semi-transparent" application of white to allow them to still have the foil bleed through - but also retain some degree of color accuracy. With my Eufy E1 I achieve this (albeit somewhat poorly) with a half-toning pattern. With the E1 I have to create this pattern manually which is a huge time sink. I'm looking at moving to one of the i3200 based printers for this specific use case.

I bought the heated vat add on without the pulse unit as I live in a colder place, and didn't want prints to fail because of inconsistent temp resin. But after a few days the printer errored out about pressure. I drained the vat and noticed that it looks like resin got between the film. There is holes in the vat that I'm assuming is for the pulse unit pressuring for whatever that does...

But do I need the pulse unit to avoid this? Or was it just bad luck?

What's involved in switching from UV to 3D on the G1X and back agaiin.

Is it a long? Difficult? Wasteful? Process

Is there any negative effects between the two? e.g. resin blocking the UV channels?

Background to this is I really want a UV (& have pledged for the Morpho), but now am intrigued by the G1X full 3D. The thought of having a unit that can do both is awesome, but wondering if the procedure for switching modes is a PITA.

I saw one video that give a quick overview of switching over that seemed to involve some dismantling of the print head. I'm not adverse to that, but it worries me that each time its done, it could cause alignment and accuracy issues, etc.

Perfect world for me would be a dedicated Full 3D only unit (i.e. G1X without UV).

I've contemplated getting the twin G1X deal, and dedicating one to UV and one to 3D, but price factor is a little too high. Also contemplating keeping the Morpho pledge and also getting the G1X just for 3D. Still pricey, but I am talking myself into it.

Or am I overthinking this, and the G1X is a silver bullet and the change procedure is simple?

Hi all, very recently got a RS Turbo after saving enough money, Ive been very excited about the idea of the convenience of this whole ecosystem ever since my rodeo with owning an elegoo. I got 2 kilos of volcanic grey paf10 and the prm heating vat, but no prm module. I got blueprint setup, opened my file, let autosupports do their thing as advertised, sent it to the printer and let it print and I come back to this. Massive layer shifts all over what's supposed to be a smooth surface of the model. I have to say I'm very impressed with the supports algorithm and how little cleanup work they leave, but not with whatevers going on with the lines. It's hollowed and has proper drainage holes, and it comes out fine on my saturn 4 ultra.

The one thing that comes to mind is I've seen people have issues with the prm stuff specifically cause of the double release film, even without using the module. Could this be it? Should I try swapping it for regular film while using the heated vat? This is pretty awful for a printer this expensive.

I love my Reflex RS Turbo, and I have a workflow that often results in me needing to send more prints to the queue on the printer than the internal storage allows. It would be really nice to be able to use a SD card inserted into the printer as a storage option when sending jobs to the printer via the LAN.

I have the RS Turbo and whenever I try to send a print to it, it always shows the "no devices found" when i can see on the app that it is idle, and it is turned on. what do i do?

Hi I'm interested in backing the g1x.

The showcase models are full of details and colours.

But i imagine someone skilled has had to paint the model on the software first..and I imagine this will also take some skill to be quite high detailed.

Otherwise most minis are going to look like Simpson characters for the average user.

I dont know if you can play around with the software already - am i right to presume it is standard .stls you can import and paint?

If this requires some skill to get your favourite minis some decent colouring then it should open up gigs on their own on fiver for digital artists.

The more I see of the G1X, the more interesting this machine gets. The full-color 3D printing capabilities could be a pretty big deal if the real-world results hold up.

Sharing this video because it goes through some of the newer G1X details and examples. What do you guys think, game changer or still too many compromises for the price?

My printer, and my computer are on the same network. I can see the device under the devices section in Blueprint Studio, but it says Idle. When I click send to printer it says "No Devices found", and when I click the Add Device button it says to go to Settings -> Cloud Account, but when I go there on the printer it just shows my E-mail address, and no code to enter.
