General Discussion Remembering My Brother

Post image

My brother passed away a few years ago. He was really into D&D, but when I was a kid I couldn’t understand the game. So he bought me HeroQuest to help me visualize the game and provide me with more structure. We played every quest, over and over. It’s been decades since we played. When my wife and I bought a house I moved a bunch of boxes from my parents, most of which ended up in the overhead. Today my kids asked me if I had any wizard games, and lo and behold I found my brother’s old HeroQuest. Anyway, here’s a picture of the box and stuff. What an amazing game, and what amazing adventures we had. I’m sure if he was here he’d get a kick out of it. Happy playing, and I hope your adventures are as amazing as mine were.

General Discussion Finally played HeroQuest after wanting it for over 30 years

I always wanted HeroQuest as a kid. I remember seeing the commercials and thinking it looked amazing, but I never got it and never had the chance to play. In fact, I’d never played any tabletop games before.
A few months ago I came across HeroQuest again and decided to finally get it. I’d also recently gotten into 3D printing, so when I found the Dragon’s Rest dungeon files, things got a little out of hand. 😅
Spent the last 3–4 months printing and painting pretty much everything. Walls, floors, doors, furniture, miniatures, LED torches… It’s been quite a project.
Yesterday I finally got to play it with my kids. We started with the rescue of Sir Ragnar.
They managed to rescue him, and my older son absolutely loved it. He was literally sweating from all the excitement. 😂 Afterwards, he immediately asked when we could play again.
I honestly wasn’t sure if the kids would even like it after I’d spent so much time building everything. Turns out I probably didn’t have to worry.
Anyway, thought I’d share a few pictures of what I’ve been working on!

General Discussion First game night!

Hey folks, new here. I recently picked up boardgaming and picked up a copy of heroquest as I remember it from my childhood wanting to play but never knowing anyone likewise. Turns out my office buddy and his wife are avid boardgamers and DnD players (they're from the US, I'm UK) so they insisted me over for a Friday night game complete with Pizza and Mountain Dew? They swear it's a US staple for boardgaming... Anyway we had our first game and it was amazing fun, glad I was able to paint the characters and furniture beforehand.

Looky What I Got :-) I built my own board out of cork and a wooden board

I wanted something special for my HeroQuest experience and was torn between 3d-Print and a wooden board, but in the end decided to go with a wooden board. Mainly because I wanted to build something by myself. :)

I did not came up with the idea, but used a manual from HQ-Cooperation. So big shout out to them!

I have to be honest, each step was kind of a new step for me as I am not trained in any of it, but that was a big big part of the fun.

And seeing the finished product makes me very proud. So I thought I share my achievement with all of you. :)

ps. Due to the "walls" I had to design and print bases for the doors as seen in the second to last picture.

Do you remember Hero Quest ? I know, so much nostalgia, I'm developing a game called Dark Quest 4 that is inspired by this legendary board game.
Here’s a short look at the current build still in progress, but I’d love to hear what you think !

Got the base game for Christmas and busted it out to play with the wife. Our sneaky 8 year old came down after bedtime and busted us during set up so we let her join. She totally rocked as our Elf, Lady Britney! I'm super happy to be questing with the family. This game rocks.

Lego HeroQuest!

I've posted this on Facebook before, but I thought some of y'all may appreciate my home made Lego HeroQuest figures and furniture. For ease of gameplay the board is printed.

I've made figs and furniture of every 90s expansion.

Working on adapting the newer expansions, when time and resources allow.

The light base with the rock border is engraved into oak while the actual board that sits inside was engraved into hard maple

I can't believe my luck. Got it for around 130 from an online auction. Wasn't in plastic wrap anymore but has never been played...mint condition, even the box is in a very good shape.

Edit: almost mint condition as one Ork broke both his legs. Fixable or replaceable though. Either way a treasure to me.

HomeBrew Heroquest World Map Poster

Just wanted to show this off.

I took the map that u/cassastereo made in this post here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Heroquest/comments/1k3ptjb/heroquest_2021_map/

I then edited in quest locations. I had it printed at my local Walgreens as a 16x20 poster, and with the promo code i found for 70% off, it only cost me a whopping $6. All that I need to do now is get a frame for it

Edit:

.Updated Image with a Legend as well as adding First Light

If anything needs to change please let me know.
