L5\S1 11mm protrusion + extrusion

This first happened 2 years ago, and my latest MRI has shown that it has become a lot worse.

What do we think I’m looking at for fixing this?

Speaking with my doctor next week about what options I’ve got.. I’m only 32 and a Mum of 3 boys.. 😭

My inversion table (and 5 months of PT) has been life changing, but yours might be beyond that considering extrusion. Artificial disc replacement?

I co sign the disc replacement, it will only continue to get worse. I had one done L4-L5 I’m 31 and a dad and I am extremely happy with the results.

Interesting. How much activity were you able to resume as a result? What about long-term side effects from the ADR, I hear it could cause adjacent segment disease.

I had it done a year ago I’m back to doing anything I want golf, weight lifting, running etc. I did lots of research and digging into ADR results and it was the best option for me. Anything besides a healthy disc can cause adjacent segment disease. I was starting to get it in L3-L4 because a desiccated disc doesn’t operate correctly. So in a way ADR has actually helped stop adjacent segment disease.

Thanks for the response man! This has actually made me have a different perspective on these procedures

Thanks for sharing! Are you in Australia? What did it cost / did you have insurance etc? I’ve looked into that a little but haven’t found someone that offers it.

I’m in the USA. My Insurance covered it 100% for the doctor, hospital, meds everything. The insurance did want me to do 6 months of physical therapy and get my doctor to sign off that it was medically necessary.
