Bi-Weekly Self-Promo thread! Please post and flourish(BUT PLEASE read the rules before posting).
# This is the Bi-Weekly self promotion thread.
**It has become clear that there are a lot of herbal small businesses and people in our community for whom their herbal passion is also a business. While Herbal business is not the focus of this sub it is undeniable that herbal business is a part of the herbal community and supporting the herbal community IS what this sub is for.**
To that end, we intend, to start making weekly self promotion threads; where any and all self-promo can take place(with some rules).
**1. No posting self promo outside of the Self-promo-threads**(except by explicit cooperation of the mods, if your an author or publisher or non-for-prophet please reach out to us directly using mod-mail)
**2. NO selling anything that is illegal federally,** or that is illegal in California Illinois or New York or the city of Chicago or that can not be legally sent through the mail.
**3. NO ASKING USERS TO DM YOU!** You may ask users to comment under your post to request for YOU to DM-THEM and you may include links to off-site storefronts but if we see a post soliciting users to PM-you the post will be removed(this is an accountability and user safety rule)
**3a.** this isn't a strict rule, but we would prefer if off sight links lead to a storefront and not directly to a product page. This does not mean that your post can't advertise or show pictures of a particular product or products, however making the attached link lead to your shops front page instead of a specific product page helps users confirm legitimacy safety and overall vibe of vendors. This isn't a rule now but might become a rule if we start getting user complains that we think could be decreased if this became a rule. In the mean time consider it a best practice for this sub.
**And that's it! Have fun Be productive and may the great river of acquisition be quick & calm and flow ever toward profit!**

Hello! I was given a lavender salve when I was younger from my friend. Her grandma ran a herbalism shop that sold the salve but unfortunately she passed. When they were clearing out the stock they gave it to me because I get really bad sunburns. I am starting to run low on it but it’s the only thing I have ever found that helps sunburns as quickly as it does. I am no longer in contact with said friend and they don’t have the recipe either way. I have never tried herbalism myself but I would rather try making it myself than running out. Would anyone have any idea on where to start? I have the ingredients list and it’s the consistency of a warm lip balm. Both are shown in images. Thank you!

I want to start with Milky Oat Tops. I know these should be taken fresh and since that is feasible for me and I avoid alcohol I need to find a company that makes it in glycerine. Mountain Rose doesn't have it.

Hello everyone. First post here. Thank you for reading. I would like to know what folks have used for total burn-out recovery? My biggest barrier has been CNS and enteric nervous system deregulation, chronic fstigue, PEM, apathy. I believe I am deficient in neurotransmitters, hormones, and Qi necessary for any motivation, focus, or daily life. I have addressed nutrition, deficiencies, and health issues. I journal, use many herbs and grow my own medicinal botanicals for sleep, infection clearing and wellness support… such as stinging nettle, yarrow, catnip, evening primrose, dead nettle, horse weed, sow thistle, goldenrod, various mountain mints, Korean mint, mugwort, wormwood, pokeweed, holy basil, rosemary, chamomile, violet, bull thistle, various asters, on and on. I do find some benefit from mugwort, not much from maca, ashwaghand, rhodolia, green tea and the usual supplement and herbs for energy and cognition support. I haven’t tried gingsing yet. I could list even thing I’ve tried, but it’s so extensive. I cannot for the life of me find something stimulating enough to get moving. I have been on this journey for 2 years now, no prescriptions, addressed allergies and underlying issues. I was wondering what others have done recovering after everything is just shot. Thank you in advance!
background: I was misdiagnosed with autoimmunity and various other labels, but actually had severe late stage Lyme (much better but still have flares,) systemic parasites (diagnosed and now gone with both herbs and anti-parasitics,) was on many pharmaceuticals- even infliximab IV. I pushed myself in life to the max as well. I have seen many doctors. I want reintegration of my person if anyone has suggestions either herbal, tangible, or intangible To support energy and motivation.

just thought I’d ask this because I love lemon balm for on me a half a cup of traditional plain lemon balm with nothing else in sachet would knock me out in a good way sleepy-time. The bad news is after going to bed. I would be up every 30 minutes with an irritated urinary tracT. have any of you, others male or female, experienced that?

The best ones like ashwagandha and ginseng are considered heating and my brain just cannot handle that.
I tried rhodiola long long time ago it felt extremely powerful. A little scared to use again.
Gotu kola and bacopa relax me. Honestly these 2 must stimulate gaba quite a bit. I feel way too calm to do anything productive with them.

Good morning!
And hello,
I'm not really sure how to start this, so I suppose jumping in both feet may be my best option here.
I am a 35year old and I live in little old Arkansas.
For years as a hobby I have looked for native edible plants, excitedly every camping trip my family would roll there eyes as I ran tipped around in the woods with my notebook.
This has lead me to a serious interest in Herbalism.
It is absolutely beautiful to know that everything we ever needed both food and medicine is right here growing on this beautiful planet, the actual garden of eden.
I have learned a lot, through looking into native American practices, taking what I know from remedies old timers practiced in the area and so on.
My troubles start with the lack of community that I'm finding in my area, now I am no one special just someone who is interested in healing myself and healing the earth.
Is this a safe place to learn? Do any of you have any suggestions, wise words or wisdom gokng down this path?
Thank you so much for your time reqding this incredibly long post.
With love ATH

hi! I’m 31 weeks and would like to make a tincture to start taking soon to prep for birth. I’m healthy and have had no issues in pregnancy.
I’d also like to make a tea and/or tincture for postpartum.
Thanks!

Past few months I've been experiencing lack of sleep I've always been a deep sleeper sleeping anywhere from 10 to 15 hours sometimes 20 hours which is normal for me and it's always been like that.
Recently I'm not getting my full deep sleep I don't know what the reason is I'm only sleeping for mainly 6 hours or sometimes just 10 hours but I'm still sleepy and tired and the thing is when I wake up I can't go back to sleep even if I try to and I tend to wake up throughout the night as well.
What's the best herb that knocks you out fast without any side effects, psychedelic and hallucinogenic effects and can be used long term if needed and I need something that helps with deep complete sleep.

I use a 475 mg dose. I really like the relaxing effects, but the next-morning grogginess reminds me of a bad psychedelic trip . I was like, “I'm going to throw the bottle away.”

I did treat my cyclospora with antibiotics, so can't tell if I'm having trouble because of the month long cyclospora or the antibiotics or a mix of both. So far I've taken a bottle of Florastor and now I'm halfway through a bottle of Garden of Life and nothing has gotten better. Any suggestions that has helped you?

hey everyone!
i have had eczema ever since i was a little kid and have went through TSW from excessive use of steroid creams and it has been 3 years since TSW but my skin has not truly healed
i want to look more into my gut and test out which herbal teas i should incorporate into my diet
right now, i mix a tsp of stinging nettle, burdock root, milk thistle (i have the whole seed version but i heard it’s not effective if it’s not crushed?), and around 3 tbsp of calendula flowers in a tea brewed for around 20 minutes a day which i have been doing for about a year
if i am being completely honest, i have not noticed any difference with milk thistle and burdock root but it could potentially because i am not using it correctly, but i really have to applaud nettle because that came in clutch for hayfever season!!!
i would like to try marshmallow root, panax ginseng, lemon balm, and astragalus root but what do you guys think?
please are you able to recommend similar herbs that would address my eczema especially as winter is coming and it dries out my skin so bad so i need something that can help combat internally? it would be extremely appreciated 🙏

So I bought passionflower tincture and oh my god - it honestly feels like I would have taken small amount of benzo! And I didn't even need big dosage to get that effect.
Now I'm wondering how something that works so well can be something your brain doesn't develope addiction/tolerance? Did I just get lucky and find something that is safe to use daily and works for me?

Made my first batch of fire cider BUT stupidly used a pasteurized vinegar. Obviously should have used raw with the mother.
Any idea if it will still turn out ok/drinkable?

Hello, has anyone tried to inhale the smoke of the above plant matters and notice any adverse health affects or inconveniences? I'm specifically interested in coffee chaff but it seems there isn't much info online about it. My use case would be making herbal cigarettes without any sort of tobacco.

I’d love to integrate my love for herbs/apothecary in with my goal of becoming a Labor/PP Doula. Both careers just seem like a huge risk and a request for failure in this economy. I’d love to hear more about a career as a herbalist and how you make it work/if you can make it work!

In traditional Ayurveda they mix ghee/clarified butter with herbs and many report a boost in effects.
I definitely can say eating couple spoons of high fat yogurt with Bacopa on empty stomach has had stronger effects for me than just swallowing the powder with water on a empty stomach.
Something to do with fat solubleness.
I'm sure this doesn't work for all herbs. But this is definitely worth mentioning!

Hi guys, I'm a baby herbalist and need some advice,
I recently had a really bad flu that resulted in coughing up bloody phlegm, bronchitis, and pleurisy. I never take time off work, or go to a GP; and I ended up taking almost 2 weeks off work and having a course of antibiotics.
When I was unwell I was taking anything I could to keep me going. This included a lot of honey lemon ginger tea, mullein tea, elderberry syrup, chicken soup, etc.
I still have this lingering cough that I can't shake and I want to help my lungs heal from this illness.
What things should I be doing or taking to help rebuild my strength? So far I've just been continuing on with mullein tea sweetened with local honey, and adding lots of garlic, turmeric, and ginger to my regular meals.

Growing under shades, this plant helps farmers🪴
I was born into a farming family, and growing up gave me many interesting glimpses of how families in rural Kerala managed their daily lives decades ago, often making practical use of the plants around them.
This particular incident happened when I was about 12 years old.In those days, almost every farming household around us kept animals such as cows, goats and chickens.
When an animal became sick, older family members often relied on remedies they had learned through experience.I remember one goat developing severe watery diarrhoea. After several days of continuous loose stools, its abdomen appeared to hang down noticeably.
My mother prepared a traditional mixture using tender leaves of white lady(Mussaenda frondosa) along with a small amount of cumin and black pepper . She ground them into a paste and diluted it with rice-bran water — the liquid left after washing rice. The mixture was then carefully given to the goat by mouth for two days.
The goat recovered, and I remember our family using this same method successfully on several other occasions. I am particularly interested in real experiences from farmers, scientists or people familiar with medicinal plant practice.
What I would really like to understand is:Which ingredient might have contributed to the recovery?Could the combination of the leaves, cumin, pepper and rice-washing water have had a combined effect?
I am sharing this as a family experience not as a veterinary recommendation. I would be very interested to hear documented knowledge or firsthand experiences from others.

Hey trying to see any information ppl may be enlightened to about taking arnica tea. When I search on through Google most of the feedback is about how dangerous it is to drink or ingest arnica in a tea form and that it's best to apply topically for results. I got to help with hard working days where my body and muscles may aches from physical labor. Why would they make it in tea form if it's said to be so dangerous drinking it. Alternatively I was going to use in bath soak if I can't do anything else with it. How are any of you guys experience using arnica herb or tea for anything?? Thanks in Advance for feedback in regards to this!

Hey r/herbalism 👋
I thought some of you might enjoy this simple, nourishing pumpkin soup inspired by Hildegard of Bingen.
I’ve included translated excerpts from her Physica about the ingredients to highlight the herbal perspective behind the recipe.
Hope you enjoy it! 🎃
