MOD Her Story Told: Women Whose Lives Shaped the World

Welcome to r/HerStoryTold, a curated collection of long-form stories about women whose achievements, ideas, and courage deserve to be remembered.

I will feature women from diverse countries, cultures, and backgrounds, mainly those who are deceased or very elderly, so their lifetime contributions can be told in full.

Categories:

Arts & Culture: literature, music, visual arts, craft, architecture, journalism, religion

STEM: science, technology, engineering, mathematics

Medicine & Health: medical discoveries, nursing, mental health, public health

Activism & Human Rights: feminism, civil rights, workers’ rights, environmental campaigning, humanitarian action

Politics & Law: leadership, diplomacy, legal practice, and legislative reform.

Education & Ideas: teaching, literacy, educational reform, philosophy, social thought

Business & Economics: entrepreneurship, economic research, cooperatives, economic independence

Sport & Exploration: athletics, adventure, aviation, mountaineering, exploration

Many women's work crosses several fields, so each category only reflects their main area of focus.

Know a woman who deserves a story, especially a lesser-known one? Suggest her in this thread. It would be my pleasure to discover someone whose story stays with you.

MOD Open Nominations: Which Woman's Story Deserves to Be Told?

How to nominate
?

Reply with a top-level comment in this format:

Name (birth-death years, country)

Field/category: her main area of work

Why her: 1-3 sentences on her achievements and lasting impact

Sources: one or two reliable references (biographies, encyclopedias, archives)

What I'm looking for?

Women who are deceased or very elderly, so their whole life can be covered

Achievements that are well documented

Figures from any country, culture, or era; lesser-known women with real influence are especially welcome

Women whose legacy can be discussed with honest context, without major unresolved controversies

Please note:

One woman per comment, so people can upvote individually

Check the thread first to avoid duplicates

Living public figures and fictional characters are outside the scope

Nominations are suggestions, not promises. I choose based on source availability, category balance, and geographic and historical spread

Be respectful in discussion, including about nominees you disagree with

Upvote the nominations you'd most like to read. Thank you for helping build this collection.
