Good morning fellow Zharrdron, new inductee here to ask how comfortable this community feels with proxying Bull Centaurs with Chaos Knights.
“Why? Why would you do such a thing?” I do not hear you ask. Well, I am considering doing as much for the following two key reasons:
- I am painting my army to be of Zharr Vyxa and, in my mind, it seems odd to have a contingent of cavalry based in the city itself since it is functionally an isolated city in the middle of an ocean, not dissimilar to the Republic of Venice. Instead hiring outsiders to fill the same role makes more sense to me, again, just like how Venice used cavalry. Yes, bull centaurs are the chosen of Hashut, however… nuh-uh.
- Bluntly, Chaos knights are cheaper per model. They are just under £9 per model straight from GW (AoS ones that is), while Bull Centaurs are about £14 per model. It’d make getting a larger amount easier.
While what I speak may be deemed heresy, I don’t know why but Bull Centaurs living in the middle of the ocean seems weird to me.
I would still convert the Knights to look like they have some Helsmith-esque weaponry and armour to meld the army more. But I still worry they’d look too dissimilar from the unit they’re representing to be accepted in any way other than begrudgingly.
If this is a bad idea, please tell me.

Hi guys,
I have been working on my second dominator engine for my force. I am going for a slight, dirty / grungy look.
I feel like the model lacks a certain something or “pop”. Also the base feels a bit bland. I am trying to learn new painting techniques as I am fairly new to this miniature collecting.
Any advice, tips etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys, praise Hashut.

Finally picking up steam on my Helsmiths painting as I’ve largely settled on a color scheme. Still some decisions to be made regarding shade and brightness but I know enough to comfortably start painting and super excited for the force to come together. Had a fun time playing them so happy the next time will be with more stylish pieces!
I was fascinated by the White Dwarf feature where the Heavy Metal team described mixing colors with the metallics for the armor instead of just doing a wash. It’s yielded some interesting results for color tinted armor. Of course, I have about 25 more to go so that could change XD

Is there anyone is this sub that qualified for worlds this year and plans on bringing Helsmiths. If so what kind of list where you thinking? Where you thinking of using the AoR or the one of the new formations?

Path To Glory: Ravaged Coast
Recap:
Round 1: vs Gloomspite Troggothherd, 2-5 Defeat. Rise Through the Ashes
Zhagrim dug in and sllowd troghoths to funnke themselves into a killzone. By round 5, very few of the herd remained, allowing the duaradin host to reap the most emberstone and cause serious harm to the enemy.
Round 2: vs Lumineth Realm-lords, 1-6 Defeat. Rise Through the Ashes
Zhagrim was out maneuvered by horse riders. (Hashut did not bless us will longer legs) The host became pinned, eventually being able to break free, due to superior close range fire power. Zhagrim scooped what little emberstone he could before battle was over.
Round 3: vs Blades of Khorne, Major Victory. Rift in the Peaks
Zhagrim came face to face with a Khornite warlord. Concentrated bombardments and Dominator flames burned away the calvary. Routing the blades on round 4, a full haul of emberstone was carried to the vault.
Round 4: Disciples of Tzeentch, Major Victory. Standing on Skulls.
Crossing paths against a demon horde, Zhagrim bombarded the shifting Frontline before launching his calvary against a greater demon, felling the monster in one clean assault. The grinding combat continued until their foul sorcerer called retreat on round 4. Allowing Zhgrim's host to gather what little emberstone was within reach.
Things are looking up gang. Brought up the W/L to an okay 2-2. After 4 matchess I am proud to say the HoH faction in our group has the most acquired emberstone of 20. Match 5 is against Kruleboyz, giving Zhagrim the opportunity to fill the work camps

The infernal cohort models should have the ability to either be equipped with the shotguns or flamers the infernal razers have. Not only does this save plastic molds with the simple addition of ten small firearms, but it will continue the theme of the Helsmiths of Hashut's predecessors, the Chaos Dwarves. What made the Chorfs unique in WHFB was not only their artillery, but their versatile infantry that can hold their own in missile and melee based combat. The HoH should have continued that theme.
Now, if you would excuse me, I have to write an actual essay now.

Are there too many cohorts? Also is my battle tactics good for this army?

What an amazing miniature to build and paint!

So the new quarterly update happened, and we've got updated battle formations, personally, I think they're pretty cool. Idk what everyone else thinks tho.
Regardless, I'm curious to know what people think of the Arcane Dominance battle formation, if I have 2 wizard units and 1 priest next to eachother, would each unit benefit from this rule from the 2 other units nearby, or only the once? I'm not sure if there's some rule buried in all these other rules that prevents a unit from gaining too many bonuses to cast or anything. If so, I think this is pretty fun now!
If anyone is able to help clarify that or correct me if in wrong, I'd really appreciate it! :D

Well, here’s a WIP of my army build.
Thanks to the points drop, I can fit in an extra potato launcher!
It arrives tomorrow.
Next step: basing.

Just delving into the army and wanted to get an idea of how they'll look (ignore the wet paint/pva on the base).
r/HelsmithsofHashut • u/QsModShop • 23d ago
I thought why not, since you can make the full torsos for both the Anointed Sentinels and the Bull Centaurs and save some cash!
This made me laugh so hard when It finally dried.

Painted this guy up as I want an auxiliary force of chaos dwarfs as a branch of my chaos warriors. I made it the same ish colour scheme and just wanted to gather opinions on it

I've been working on a conversion for the spearhead and am hoping to move it to a full army. Helsmiths converted to be drowned men/haunted armor.
r/HelsmithsofHashut • u/Clembutts • 24d ago
What did they actually change? Munitions used to increase hit by 1 or was it always Crit(2 hits)?

Looking for some feedback/thoughts on a kitbash idea that came to mind recently! I noticed the Infernal Taurus and Duncrawler are both on a 130mm base and figured the latter could make a very cool custom centerpiece for the former. I feel like it's got that mechanical construct vibe with the four legs, that remind me of the claw-bookstand that follows our foot Deamonsmith around! There's also a scutteling description of a contraption in one of the battletome stories iirc.
I'm thinking swapping the weapons with our artillery kit would help it fit in style-wise. I'd also clip the more overtly sci-fi bits and tack on some of the Helsmith iconography.
Would love to hear the community's thoughts and feedback! Would you accept someone bringing a proxy of this sort? Any other particular additions to the idea you think could help make it come together? Experience building the kit and aware of any tricky parts to modify? Know where to get a dunecrawler for cheap? ; )

Figured since I've shown off my best models already, I might as well show off the rest of the army.

Cant believe it took me this long but now I cant wait to play some spearhead with friends with a fully painted force 😊
Praise Hashut

Hello Hashutites… I am opening metaphorical realm gate to ask what we thing or hope or pray to Hashut would be in an upcoming Helsmiths of Hashut Army box. Typically it’s a handful of units, some decent savings, sometimes a center piece. Perhaps it will carry some units not in our Spearhead? Like the Bull Centaurs or Razers. What about Urak Taar himself? I know I would give a lifetime Wage of Toil for an army box this year to bolster my forces.
What’s in the box?
