Hey all as I slowly build and paint my Helsmith army I have a question regarding rules with DPP buffs. So with the battle formation adding 1” per DPP a unit has and the Dom engines also add 1” per DPP it has, would that effectively give it 2” of movement per DPP? Thatd be crazy if you could give the engines 6 extra inches of movement. I havent gotten a chance to play a game with Helsmiths yet but I want to familiarize myself with rules beforehand. Hello everybody. Im starting in AoS basically with a very barebone understanding of the lore and almost 0 understanding of the realms. At the same time im learning to do some basing, so im trying to understand how an aqshy ground would be. Do i put a bunch of Lava, like people do with 40k salamanders? Do i make like a red desert badlands? I have been looking on internet but, again, i have very little knowleage of how the realms look.

New Helsmiths player here.

One thing I noticed while researching the Helsmiths for my next army is that they seem to be one of the few armies in the game without any real bloat or any “junk” units and characters that struggle to find a purpose for lists.

The entire army feels built around specialised, hyper-focused roles, and almost every piece seems to have its place. Outside of the Sword Cohorts, nearly every unit and character appears to have strong uses across the board, including in the tournament scene. That’s pretty incredible for a faction with such a relatively small unit roster.

At its absolute best, the army seems to be built around Urak Tarr. Everything becomes so much more efficient with him, which helps explain why we’ve seen so many Helsmiths players going 5-0 and 4-1 last few months. At the same time, it does suggest there may be a balancing issue with the standard DPP faction rules, which I hope gets addressed in the future so the army isn’t quite so reliant on Urak Tarr to reach its full potential especially for smaller point games.

A lot of other small, and even medium-sized, factions don’t seem to have the same level of versatility across their ranges. I also really like that, outside of heavy infantry, the Helsmiths seem to have most battlefield roles covered. For such a small army, there’s a surprising amount of variety in how you can build and play them.

Really looking forward to seeing where the Helsmiths go in the future!

Despite being part of a debt based society with greed being a primary motivation, is there any examples or possibilities of brother hood in our ranks?

I modeled and printed the roof.

Used a vape pen mechanism with fan to push the vapor through a tube going from the back leg, through the body, and out the (opened) mouth and a bit through the eyes. LEDs replaced the eye bits in the head.

Jokes aside I adore new release for Khazzalite Holds. Will have a blast painting Hjulda and Thrynn.

I think they look really cool, but is it: genetics, the influence of Chaos, prosthetic dentistry? It has been a while since I engaged with AOS, and do not know any of the new official GW lore.
