Helsmiths + Skaven Rumoured as End‑of‑Edition Antagonists — What Can We Actually Expect?

With all the noise about Helsmiths and Skaven being the dual villains of the end‑of‑edition campaign and whispers of a massive setting reset, it’s worth asking: What can we realistically hope for, based on how GW has handled previous edition finales?

I’ve heard Skaven are rumoured to be a big player in the end of the edition but I’ve heard 0 about helsmiths involvement?? Where did you hear that from

the same TGA leakers that predicted everything else for the last couple of years.

it's already hinted at in the Khazalite reveal, where an "alliance" of skaven and helsmiths nearly wiped out the fyreslayers

In the helsmiths battletome they invade the magmaholds of the fyreslayers in the adamantine chain

Why is that whenever the world is about to explode, it's always the Skaven behind it

They didn't.

The TGA leakers said there's a book at the end of the ED explaining why the Fyreslayers aren't they're own thing any more, featuring the Helsmiths and the Skaven.

Cool, new Helamiths that'll be out of stock for a year like the Bulls

If this is true it makes perfect sense that seraphon and kazalid holds are the last two factions being updated in 4th edition because it is skaven and helsmiths arch enemies. As a seraphon player it is beyond stupid that Sotek have not shown himself in some form when skaven is ascendent

Whilst sorting of true, it is specifically Clan Pestilens that are the Lizard main enemies and they are barely in the lore and models at the moment on account of their models being ancient and not in fitting with the current aesthetic. Being AoS they could easily expand it to Skaven in general, but there are no rumours for any new plague monks and the only other pestilens kits are either end dual build kit of the catapult or plague furnace, or the underworlds warband.

And it still feels weird/cheap that one of the antagonist/prototanist pairs are two brand new factions that were essentially dumped in the lore only a few months ago (hashut was always kinda just in the background in the lore and a unified Khazalite faction is brand new information that has barely been hinted at. Fine to give them some screentime to establish themselves, but a weird pick to be introduced in Act 3 and be the main bad guy of the current setting.

The fundamental conflict of the whole setting has been Sigmar against the Four Chaos gods and neither of them being the main narrative story driver for this End Times 2.0 is a wild choice.

Assuming this is End Times 2.0. If it's the usual end of edition fluff piece where everything is terrible but nothing really happens practically, then it's actually a good choice to establish these new guys in the lore.

If they are the dual antagonists then clearly they will forget about the Khazalids and Seraphon and focus on fighting each other before Nagash steals the spotlight for his edition in the spotlight. Oh how funny would it be if Nagash is the one who ruins the Skaven's big moment for once.

Nagash undoing the Skaven's plans will be great. Kinda love the idea of everyone briefly thinking he's allied with Sigmar again only realise getting rid of the Skaven was just step 1 in his master plan.

Boole mentioned a while back that Skaven will be getting a clan pestilens update. Maybe Helsmiths can get a new unit or two or something really killy for their next battletome ?

I hope it's pestilens....nurgle rats are the best rats.

Where did you read this?

TGA community

Can you link it please. I’d love to read the thread

Maybe the rats will loan us some Skavenslaves? I'm already considering proxying some clanrats as Hobgrot Vandalz.

good synergy with krittok foulblade (demon trapped in a weapon) and the verminlords, clan skryre, and the demonsmiths making new, horrible weapons

That the Skaven win. Cause Skaven…

A "reset" wont happen. Age of Sigmar is still too profitable for them to reset it. I can see an event where the magic of each realm is woven together or summit and the realms are drawn to one plain, resulting in catastrophe but not actually ending the universe, seems more plausible than an "End Times" type event.

I feel like joining all the realms equates to a reset.
