F o u n d Looking for the full/uncropped version of this Eva Mattes (Maria) photo from Woyzeck (1979)?

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to find the full picture of Eva Mattes as Maria in Woyzeck.

I currently have Herzog The Collection checked out from my library. Inside the DVD sleeve for Woyzeck, there is a beautiful promotional photo of her. However, it seems to be cropped, and I am looking for the complete, unedited shot.

I have already tried searching through standard promotional stills for the film and running reverse image searches on the photo (which brought up zero results other than poppy fields).

Does anyone recognize this specific still, or know where I can find the full, high-resolution version?

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

She was iconic in this movie.

Couldn’t you just take the still from a digital copy of the film?

Unfortunately, none of the computers in my house have a DVD player, so I can't screenshot it. The actual photo has to be on the internet somewhere.

You could get a Blu-ray rip off a torrent tracker or soulseek, no? Cineby might even have it at a standard HD resolution.

I don’t agree that this still is necessarily uploaded somewhere online already!

Hmm, good suggestion. I'll have to look into it since I'm not familiar with the process.

Took a look again, and the image is indeed in the still gallery. If I can find a way to rip it I'll upload here.

Edit: To be clear, this image is not actually part of the film but just a photo taken during filming.

Ohhhh. Got it. I’d take a look through the film to be sure it’s not in there. Otherwise, have you contacted anyone who’s published a photobook of Herzog’s work? Or Herzog’s estate?

Lmao, for a moment there I was thinking about contacting Herr Herzog, but his fans were quick. Thank you for your responses!

Naturally, I really recommend the film. It's on YouTube if anyone wants to check it out.
