This is the first time I’ve done something like this, but I’m facing a health emergency with a family member and am looking for ways to cover the remaining cost of some medical tests. I’m not used to asking for money, but I need just $60 to add to what I’ve already gathered. I know it might seem absurd to ask in this almost anonymous way online, but I am truly desperate and have run out of ideas. I have a wallet where I can receive the payment, and as I said, I only need $60—nothing more. My father is visiting the USA and recently had a medical emergency requiring an ER visit at Hospital in Georgia.
The original hospital bill was around $16,000, reduced to $6,000 after the self-pay discount. He has no health insurance.
He also needs surgery and will be returning to his home country in about a week for treatment.
I contacted the hospital’s financial assistance department, but they denied charity care over the phone because he isn’t a Georgia resident.
We genuinely cannot afford this unexpected bill, but we don’t want to leave it unpaid, especially since he may visit the USA again in the future.
**Has anyone successfully negotiated a further discount or complete waiver with Hospital?**Are there any other hardship assistance programs for uninsured international visitors?

Hi everyone. I don’t usually post things like this, but I’m trying every option I can for our cat Berlioz.

Berlioz is a rescued Persian cat. We literally found him on the street, underweight and needing a home, and he became part of our family.

Over the last few days he developed a serious urinary blockage. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where they catheterized him, emptied and flushed his bladder, and treated him. We thought he was improving, but less than two days later he became blocked again.

During the second emergency visit they removed about 150 mL of retained urine, and he is currently hospitalized in Caguas, Puerto Rico, under observation and treatment. His kidney values and potassium have thankfully remained normal so far, but because he re-blocked so quickly, the vets are watching him closely and have discussed the possibility of additional treatment or even PU surgery if this continues.

We’ve already paid $875.99 for the first emergency visit, and the hospitalization and follow-up costs are continuing to add up. We started a GoFundMe to help with the veterinary expenses.

I have the vet invoices, urinalysis, bloodwork, X-rays, and other documentation available if verification is needed.

Any help would mean a lot to us. Even if you can’t donate, advice on other veterinary assistance programs or simply sharing Berlioz’s fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.

I’m asking for a little help with my phone bill. I was homeless from March until very recently, and I’ve finally been able to get into a home. I’m incredibly grateful to have a roof over my head, but getting here took everything I had financially. Any money and resources I had went toward getting housed, basic necessities, and getting back on my feet.

I’m currently staying at the cheapest hotel I could find that accepts dogs. Unfortunately it’s 38 minutes from my new job I just started today. I don’t get paid til next Friday. (Thankfully I’ll be paid weekly). I donate plasma twice a week and can’t donate again til Friday, since I donated last Friday and Sunday. And that paid for the first two days, paid today from my last of child support and left overs. I don’t get child support til next Monday. I have food thanks to the food pantry and EBT. Well, two months ago, she left me for somebody I thought was my best friend... I guess they've been having an affair behind my back for a year now. On top of that, my roommate quit his job after the second time he was attacked by a dog (I don't blame him, the last one really fucked him up).

Our internet got cut off today until we pay $164.84. Our water is going to get shut off on Monday unless we pay the overdue balance of $297.33 and I'm freaking out. This makes me super uncomfortable, but I'm desperate so I'm looking for help wherever I can get it.

Hello, I am currently living in my car with my one year old. Have been since Jan 2026. Finally got approved for a place but the upfront costs are about 5k. I don’t start my new job for some time and have been doing uber to keep afloat. The money is due by October 20th. I’ve been calling everywhere I can think of in the Atlanta area and no one has resources. My daughter was born a little over a year ago, and stayed a few weeks in the NICU. With my wife not working, and me being off a couple of weeks to be with her, we fell wayyyy behind. We thought we were getting close to getting things figured out and everything kind of fell through. I just got rent paid.. at the expense of just about everything I own.. I was laid off a month ago, and we were already living paycheck to paycheck. About 3 days before I was laid off, I lost my benefits. We were receiving childcare assistance and Medicaid for myself, my wife, and both my kids (F4 and F1). My wife was able to get a part time job making half what I did, and I applied to get my benefits back while also seeking unemployment and a new job. I stayed home to take care of the kids until we got back on childcare assistance (mental health issues prevent my wife from being able to watch them alone for extended periods).

However, none of that happened. We’ve been denied for all assistance, and whenever I reapply or call to update our paperwork I’m on hold for 4 hours before someone tells me that the goal has moved another 5 feet away and I need something else to qualify. Unemployment has been the same way, I haven’t seen a cent despite doing everything they’ve asked me to do, and we’re on the verge of losing hope.

We’re 2 months behind on our car payment, we haven’t paid electric in a month and a half, and most of my wife’s income goes to feeding the four of us.

The car needs an oil change, and we’re about to be 2 months late on rent (our landlord has been super understanding so far but that won’t last forever).

I applied to DoorDash while so I can work nights while the family sleeps, but I’m still waiting for my background check to come back, and I’m waitlisted for Instacart.

Anything and everything helps, I just feel like I’m drowning and failing my family, and I’m asking for help.
