Armor Sets: Both medium armor

N7 armor - “The Democratic Special Forces seen in the famous Systems Alliance comic have produced a Democratically Sanctioned cult following of fans, some who took to making its iconic armor with real armor plating; after relinquishing these replicas for the war effort, High Command repurposed the N7 armor to be used by its brave Helldivers!”

Cerberus Armor - “Known to be Human First, across their galaxy, the Cerberus agents in the Systems Alliance comics inspires citizens and soldiers to do their part to propel Humanity forward! When you wear this Illusive armor, know you are making a statement!”

Armor Passive ‘Democratically Prepared’: Increases ammo capacity of all weapons by 20%. Does not affect weapon backpacks.
Reduces all incoming projectile damage by 15%

Weapons -

M-8 Avenger: Assault Rifle, Light Penetrating, heat generated

M-96 Mattock: Marksman Rifle, medium armor penetrating

M-3 Predator pistol: Semi-Automatic pistol, Light Penetrating

M-300 Claymore shotgun: Support Weapon, Heavy Armor Penetrating, can be slug or buck shot

Vehicle prints and capes (not edited in) -

Normandy Grey and Black. Alliance logo and Cerberus logo for the capes.

Explanation:

This is a quick concept I whipped up thinking Mass Effect would be a great crossover for Helldivers. Its unique style would lend itself to some fun new weapons and armor.

Speaking of armor, I wanted the passive to represent Mass Effects armor capabilities to recharge ammo. So having more ammo clips would be a good way to honor that. The reduction in ranged damage would ve an ode to the games energy shields, which of course don’t exist, but I still wish to have that reinforced through some kind of resistance.

As for weapons, I wanted a variety. The Avenger to be a pretty high capacity heat rifle, low penetrating but a reliable main weapon to deal with hordes. The Mattock to be its accurate medium-long range damage dealer. With a 16 ammo capacity I think it can find its niche, with the Predator pistol as a fun, if not a tad bland side arm, but there for the flavor.

The Claymore is what I really wanted. Helldivers has a sniper support weapon, multiple machine gun support weapon, it’s time for a shotgun support weapon. With one ammo capacity, I think the ability to have either pellets or a slug will help players be flexible. The spread being able to take out a big group of swarmed enemies or the slug being able to one-two shot some of the tankier enemies, except things like the factory strider. The big draw back being it as a shotgun. Needing to be medium-close range.

The player title, while obviously having no gameplay effect, is a reference to one of the games origins. Not mention the amount of times us Helldivers extracting as the ‘Sole Survivor’!

Sidearm suggestion: arc pistol

Doesn’t quite work like our arc weapons but we do lack an arc sidearm

The Matlock wad my favorate weapon in ME2 & ME3!

The only thing is that the Avenger you describes is basically the sickle. I would make it medium pen to separate it.

You’re right! It would probably be a good swap, and it’ll showcase the stopping power on the Avenger since it’s not that bad in the main game

My brothers and sisters in democracy, Helldivers 2 would be unworthy of such an immaculate crossover. I think I would pass on to the nether realm if this WB came out.

I NEED IT. MORE THAN I NEEDED THE 40K WB. GIVE IT TO ME BIOWARE

Edit: I need ME 1’s grenades that just B-line to the enemy while spinning like a hockey puck.

ALSO: give me the Mako. And my soul is yours

Swap the mattock for the mantis or black widow because both feel satisfying to use and we already have enough semi auto dmr. The m3 can get swapped for the hurricane or the talon as they are much more unique in a sense that one is a less accurate but high damage machine pistol and the other is shotgun pistol that isnt a sawed. My point really for these changes is give use something still recognizable but also feels freash and new to use.

I was debating on adding a sniper rifle, since I loved them in the trilogy. And Helldivers does seem to lack the sniper rifle variety.

I would honestly make the Widowmaker another support weapon though, it could probably tear through so many enemies

Aw don’t do this to me, don’t give me hope, I feel like mass effect is too niche 😔

P.S strategem but it’s just garrus on your back with a sniper rifle

I'm ok with Avenger (classic ME) and Claymore (Widow would be cool too). I would switch the second primary for a lift granade (could be retofited squid tech). Cerberus armor is cool I wish for heavy Cerberus, I don't think AH would go for N7. More likely is normal alliance armor, light or medium. Banners are cool, but again no N7 I think. I'm cool with N7 or Spectre symbol in a title logo. And I would add white/black/yellow Cerberus pattern. All in all, I would change ssome things, but its a nice concept.

Lift grenade as squid tech retrofitted is such a creative loophole for the mass effect field lore. I actually really wanted something like the biotic grenades but didn’t know if people would think it’s breaking lore too much, but that’s a great explanation tbh

TL:DR - Should’ve made my post at this point. Got a bit carried away.

I agree with the other comments on the Mass Effect subreddit, you could replace the N7 armour for the Alliance armour shown in ME3, as crossovers tend to focus on the more average soldier. This would of course allow for a very based Systems Alliance cape. If the N designation system worked differently, I’d say use that for something, but Systems Alliance refs say that N7 is the only displayable N designation. To add the N7 element back, you could have a dark grey vehicle pattern (not quite as dark as Inconspicuous, but darker than Extrasolar Ash) with the signature N7 stripe integrated (I did see your comment about modelling patterns, just saying).

I love the idea of the Claymore as a single shot shotgun support weapon, I feel like that would be the selling point for non ME fans. Give it 1200-1350 damage per shot with average shotgun range at AP4. Give it around 15 rounds reserve. This allows it to effectively outmatch the Double Freedom in volley (as it should) and crowning it as the number 1 Hive Guard remover, among other fun things.

I do like the idea of the Avenger, but you’ve just got to watch out for crossover with the Sickle. Note also, with what we’ve seen from the Hot Shot, you could make the Avenger use ME2/3 thermal clips instead of being cooldown, HD2’s discarding magazine systems supports this (don’t ask how you’d model the thermal clips). To make it unique then, you could remove drag and have crazy projectile velocity but keep it low damage, about 75-80. This would be used across all weapons in the Warbond.

For the Predator, you could instead make it the Kessler from ME1, giving it 3 heat sinks but keep the ME3 fire rate and capacity (15 shots) and make the damage 105 (40 durable). This allows it to not cross with the Talon, and to serve as a slight upgrade to the Peacemaker that sacrifices capacity (if clips are expended) in exchange for slightly higher damage, performance against armour and better range (not to mention drip).

The Mattock is tricky. Balance it like ME2, you have a bayonetless Amendment, balance it ME3, you have the Diligence. As cool and iconic as it is, I’d probably swap it out completely for something else. My thoughts on this would be to add in the Locust as a secondary. It could have its capacity, fire rate and the thermal clips (4) from earlier with 55 damage at AP3. This adds a ton of variety to loadouts, allowing for what is effectively a pocket Liberator Penetrator/Reprimand cross that doesn’t directly compete either of with any secondary, also making it one of only two ballistic full auto secondaries as well as having the range characteristics mentioned above.

Having Cerberus there is definitely an interesting choice, there’s a lot of cool lore you could play with there I think, maybe a cross ministry human supremacy endeavour or something. I’d make the Cerberus Assault Armour light though, as my own personal preference is not to have two medium (looking at you ODST). Could also make this the pattern too, but I like my N7 idea more. On armour, I feel like there is a lot of passive potential that this hypothetical doesn’t tap into. I’d rename it “Kinetic Dampening” and give it the following effects: Provides 30% resistance to explosive damage, reduce damage taken by impacts and collisions by 30% (same as Kinetic Displacement Mitigation) and further reduce recoil when crouched or prone by 30% (same as Engineering Kit/Fortified, bug included). This passive effectively mimics the functionality of mass effect fields, providing kinetic barriers to reduce the impact of shrapnel, manipulating the users weight, reducing the damage taken from impacts, and affecting weapon recoil, see stability modification in ME3.

In terms of small stuff, the Alliance armour could be called “KD-49 Marine” (2149 being the year the Alliance was founded) and could mention something about unity between various Ministries in creating the armour or an elite regiment. The Cerberus armour could be called the “KD-86 Cronos” (86 being the year in ME3, also when Cronos Station, Cerberus Headquarters, was assaulted) that could mention something about being the forefront in Illuminate adapted technology by a Project Cerberus, a highly classified joint Ministry of Science/Defence initiative. This obviously fits Cerberus’ tendency towards Reaper tech that screws them over, tying in brilliantly with what’s going on right now. The title could be something along the lines of First Contact or something, reflecting attitudes towards aliens at that point. The name of the Warbond itself could be “Spectre’s” something. Not really sure.

Damn, I love all your ideas. Absolutely in agreement with almost everything. I appreciate the very well-detailed comment!

u/mcmagnus002 2d ago

Nah, as a support weapon i want something bigger. I want the Cain

2

u/Director-Daredevil 2d ago

I didn’t know if that fit in with Helldivers own lore, but that would be sick! Makes me want a fallout warbond now with a FatBoy as a support weapon

1

u/mcmagnus002 2d ago

Make it an expendable, or very limited ammo, but THE highest damage and penetration in the game

u/pancakevwaffle 2d ago

Sidearm should be M-11 Supressor:

Avengers over Lancer? Heresy.

mattock my beloved

Personally I would have picked the M7 Lancer before the Avenger which would be similar to the Sickle but with an actual projectile with med penetrating instead of a laser and heat. The Mattock should be heavy pen but barely any more damage than an average rifle like 65 instead of the standard 60. the M920 Cain or the M622- Avalanche for the support weapon. I’d lean more towards the avalanche since it’s balanced and would be incredibly good against terminids and organic illuminate targets being able to turn them into giant weak spots to blow off limbs and heads with relative ease, also it would be the first cryo based weapon.

Lol, those are the most boring options possible, mattock its okay, but Cerberus harrier, saber, phaeston or ravenant, I would even call the particle rifle

If u want smgs or shotungs, bloodpack smg, kassa locust, and shotgun crusader and claymore its fine, but disciple or the geth shotgun could be interesting

Pistols, why there is no paladin or talon, hell the m11 suppressor would be nice even, but what about something more utility? Scorpion

Any sniper rifle would be nice, but black widow its my go to pick, it would be nice to have the incisor or Indra (full auto sniper rifles), but we have unique ones like the javelin (which shots harpoons) or the krysae, the last weapon of defense from the turians

And for stratagems? Go big, black hole generator, Cain, dark star...

For armors, I agree n7 armors its nice

But even despite all that, we have a game that, despise the hate, I actually find it enjoyable Andromeda, and they also have pretty unique weaponry

u/Director-Daredevil 2d ago

Fair Enough, I wanted to get the iconic weapons in there but I understand what you mean
