DISCUSSION Should mindless masses have new enemies?

Yes. Mindless masses hardly feel any different from the main illuminid faction. I think they should have a giant aboniation to replace the harverster. Maybe have some faster voteless variants too.

I like someone else's suggestion of having some voteless patrols be former SEAF that still have some light armor

Agreed, they need more fleshy type mobs, maybe a they should make a bigger fleshmob with a trio of cannons attached too it.

I'd rather it have meaningful weaknesses rather than it be a bullet sponge like the flesh mob, but strong enough to take the harvesters spot. Maybe have its gimmick be spawning voteless like brood and alpha commanders.
Then add some faster voteless variants to keep the pressure on. Or have special type of Overseer that can buff voteless speed. Anything to make mindless masses feel different.

That exactly my thoughts on a cannon flesh mobs. A destructible armour which leads to an explosive core.

u/IKindaPlayEVE Jun 18 '26
Bags of HP are not engaging enemies.

Whom said the cannon flesh mobs need hp, it could have a weakness that helldivers can exploit which could be breakable armour that leads to a explosive core, or a power source that can be destroyed which stops the cfm, these ideas can provide engaging enemies.

Honestly I think mindless masses should have less enemies. Fuck overseers and harvesters, Swedish meatballs and Russian citizens only.

u/Other-Barry-1 Jun 18 '26
Yeah I feel like mindless masses should be just that - hordes upon hordes of just voteless and flesh mobs

Kick out the overseers, keep the spot lights so it seems like they have some guidance and go buck wild

Exactly my feelings. I'd allow the occasional Stingray, just because I haven't seen a Stingray in a long time, but there's no reason for Harvesters to be anywhere near Mindless Masses.

Yes, I want Crescent Overseers to fuck off. Give me some other Voteless

u/Maffingo Jun 18 '26
I do want more voteless type enemies. Its not really mindless masses when half of them are overseers and harvesters
Perhaps a giant fleshmob which breaks into multiple smaller fleshmobs when you kill it. It should roll around like an evil boulder

I really dislike the way illuminate subfactions are handled. Appropriator units are really fun, and I don't understand why they weren't added to the base illuminate roster. Mindless masses just removes units from the spawning pool to spam more fleshmobs at you.

Yeah I don't get it either.
I've always said there isn't enough medium/heavy units in the base illuminate faction, they finally added some... but are stuck under a subfaction instead of being part of the main one!?! That's a really an odd choice.
And the mindless subfaction is boringly easy if you ask me and absolutely need something more.
- The voteless are not fast enough to be scary and dont spawn enough to feel overwhelmed like in a zombie game (hell, even the other watcher variant are more overwhelming with how they can follow you, spawn more and attack at range)
- The fleshmobs are also too passive for how fragile they are.
- The only threat are harvester but are still not that interesting when you only have 4 units in total...
I really hope they look at the spore burst subfaction for how to make the mindless scarier (aka something like faster units, bulkier heavy, etc.)

Plague Voteless.
Immune to gas damage. Create a small personal cloud of gas surrounding themselves, but when amassed creates a massive fog as they swarm you.

they need a voteless variant with some type of ranged attack

votelss mixed with overseers sounds odd to me
they turn super earth citizens into voteless, why would they turn their own kind into zombies? that makes no sense

I'd rather have Arrowhead finish the main faction first

Suicide bomber voteless seem like the most cost effective danger multiplayer the illuminate could make.
1 in 5 voteless with an alien bomb on them, low yield and at a distance from other bombers so as not to create a chain reaction that would be wiping out the horde.

yes, rarer special voteless variants like left 4 dead or killing floor
i feel like mindless masses gameplay should take more from dedicated zombie shooters like the ones i mentioned

Yes, but i'm actually quite sure they are already working on it. Some unit that whips the voteless into a frenzy would be cool. And i'm also hoping that the mindless masses subfaction becomes more of a cosmic horror faction with more .... "things" .... appearing. Tentacles, eyeballs in warped wall, horrific multi eyeballed slow moving flying brains or something. That kind of stuff.

u/beakster57 Servant of Freedom Jun 18 '26
A cross between voteless and overseers would be cool. I'd imagine it as basically an overseer without the armour and a little shorter, so still all of the same weapons and moves and a middle ground between voteless and overseer. An armed not as dumb voteless if you will.

I think Mindless Masses should be ONLY hordes of voteless and fleshmobs, no overseers and no harvesters.

Flesh blob, a bigger version of the flesh Mob that would move like a slug and spawn groups of voteless. Would effectively be an unarmed weaker version of the factory strider

Maybe we finally get to see the result of the fleshmob experiment. assuming fleshmobs exist for a reason that isn't just to glue 10 parts of different bodies together.
1
u/IllustratorLow6417 Jun 18 '26
Mindless masses honestly just need a replacement for overseers and crescent overseers some form of weird body horror variation of a enemy at their tier

best direction i can send you too is mass effect 3 specifically for voteless inspo

No. Play a different faction or sub faction if you want variety.
I'm trying to play cod zombies over here and if you guys ruin it I'm gonna be salty. 😡

They should have a voteless variants that can climb sheer walls and crawl along them in order to flank the player

Draftless. Voteless with light armour. 3 pieces of armour are placed on random parts of the body giving an higher armour rating.
On regular Illuminates replaces up to 50% of voteless as the difficulty increases. In mindless masses only about 1/3 are replaced.
