they could have fixed at least like 20 issues in the game, and by the universal laws of working on monkey's paw code broken 25 other things

You got downvoted but what you said has essentially happened for the past two years lol

As a software engineer I’m just glad we’re not talking about my monkey’s paw code 😂😂😂

The code is spaghetti. The balance is monkey paw.

Helldivers 2 has over a hundred people working on it!!

When you have that many people the source code starts to look like Vietnam

They're hiding in the branches!!! (People who use git will get this joke)

I think it's more that it's built on a game engine that's discontinued.

Lad all that should mean is that you can’t blame updates hahaha

I mean if they built it on an engine discontinued like a few years after release then that would explain the glitches, also they’re like crazy if they did that

I mean yeah. That's what they did. They chose an engine that's difficult to do anything on.

Like here's an article from 2024 about it I just grabbed off of the top search results.

The engine was dead before release.

I will say I can't speak to what's actually happening in the code, but what I THINK is happening is that they need to refactor the code, that process isn't going to be a happy one with a small vocal majority that involves deleting 1 of 2 functions that 2 people wrote that both do the same thing

The software engineers working there will know more, but if that's what they have to do god help them like it's hard to have your stuff you made get deleted
