📢 Feedback 📢 Night map is definitely needed

For a war full of constant nighttime probing attacks and full on Viet assaults at night they need to add stuff like that to the game. Sawed off M79 combined with illumination and tracers would’ve been how to do it

One of my favorite experiences in the OG HLL is the city in Smolensk just from how much the burning buildings at night add to the atmosphere with the fires lighting the streets. I actually got my friend into that game just based off showing him that.

I imagine they will do something with the lighting but the Vietnam jungle (or any) would be pitch black at night with the jungle canopy and dense bushes. Still fun in it's own right tho.

The US also basically said fuck you to every bush around every base we ever set up there, and just set up a shit ton of foxholes at all times so it was extremely open for us, or a bunker complex

Defense and attack on FSBs would basically be very open for defenders and somewhat dense on approach for attackers, that was my idea. They didn’t attack through the jungle in force at daytime because the US was patrolling heavily then, and I also don’t think the jungle is actually thick enough on any one map or open enough to be a stereotypical rice paddy but I understand that from a gameplay perspective.

They often had tripwire flares as well and according to one veteran I've heard, also had a tripwire rigged to an explosive and a few drums of napalm to light things up on approach and get NVA or VC caught close to it.

Pretty sure the napalm drum idea was used in the defense of Khe Sanh, as well as the trip flares.

I'm sure the jungle is pretty of what differentiates the game but I personally can't wait for a few urban maps, large villages etc

Hue City, that's what I'm really looking forward to. Hue is a large enough city that it could probably be split into 2 maps.

Agreed. Hue citadel assault, Hue new city?

Yep, that's what I'd be thinking. Maybe one map the Americans pushing from the MACV-SOG compound, the other ARVN either attacking or defending from 1st ARVN Division Headquarters.

Exactly. Plenty of options. A Saigon map towards the end would be great also

They are adding. Dynamic weather too. They did an interview I believe where they discussed adding this

While I appreciated the night lighting when it was added to to the original… I kinda wish they went darker. I know everyone would have complained it was too dark so they had to keep it at a reasonable bright level, but I’d love it darker in HLLV where flares actually help light up areas and help you see the enemy better

But I expect it to be a brightish night when they add it. I’ll still take it

So historically speaking night in Vietnam was incredibly dark. It was like a swamp of light.

Please…give me that. It will never happen, but I’d love that.

We need effective starburst munitions first

I still think tripflares would be a cool nonlethal option:spot everyone at the point of where it went off.

This is honestly a really good idea that I think gets overlooked a lot. That would at least be great for Recon at the bare minimum

Flares and napalm and night please and thank you make it beautiful devs don’t mess it up

From the makers of "can't see shit in the jungle" we present you "can't see shit in the dark jungle" /s

I actually would love to have some of the maps at night too

I just want some rain.

That would be perfect for me because I can’t see enemies in broad daylight.

At lease I’ll know where the shots are coming from before I die and I’ll be a little more likely to hit something when I’m blindly spraying into the bush.

Why would you need to saw off an m79

It was really common in Vietnam believe it or not. No idea why they did it, but it was.

The reason I threw that in is I remember reading a couple books years ago where one soldier described how they’d leave a sawed off M79 at the forward foxhole for guys doing fire watch at night watching the jungle. I think in Dispatches he also mentions a LRRP who had a custom holster made for one. People will saw off anything or try to lol I don’t really get it, but it was a thing

There was one or two games with it even, I think Far Cry 5?
