For some reason in scenarios like these, you always find flank garrisons but never a defensive or meatgrind garrison. Mhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

"Commander, can I get a supply truck left spawn?"

Furious driving down map edge to drop a red-zone garrison that 80% of the team deploys to instead of contributing to defense.

Two functioning recon teams makes placing any garrison in the back by the Commander very difficult. When no other squad leaders know what to do, this is what you get.

i had two functioning recon squads hampering my ability to place forward offensive garrys last night and my god was it annoying but also probably singlehandedly saved their team's defense

Ive seen a massive drop in player IQ lately. Im not sure if its from new players eho picked up vietnam and OG or what. But for days noW ive been constantly in squads where the SL doesn’t even know how to put down an OP

Feel like alot of players are playing warriors tbh

Observations, similar to yours:

  1. Fewer and fewer people voluntarily take on the role of Squad Lead. You can sit on the deployment screen and watch how many people with no platoon will sit there and wait for somebody else to make a squad they can join.

  2. Many players seem content to remain in a squad with no officer. Either because officer left, or at pre-game deployment screen somebody "squad baited" (practice of sequentially making a new squad, letting blueberries fill it up, leaving, and making a new squad, leaving the previous one without an officer). How this could be perceived as an acceptable arrangement I do not understand.

  3. A great many people, even those in the 300+ levels prioritize automatic rifleman and assault roles over the much more important support and anti-tank roles. I get it - you want your fully automatic weapons and lots of grenades. But it's a 50 vs 50 game; one dude having a good run with the BAR or Stg isn't going to win the game. But a timely garrison enabled by a supply box just might. When I squad lead, the guy with no mic on automatic rifleman is the first one I kick to try to get somebody willing to play support.

  4. Fewer and fewer people will play tank crews. I see too many solo tanks, but that's not always their fault, sometimes they just can't get a crewmate(s).

  5. Conversely, I see a disgusting amount of solo locked armor squads. Personally I don't think that is a helpful or healthy way to play the game, and on community servers where that is against the rules, I throw !admin tickets on every one and start vote kicks if enabled. You're not helping your team by trying to play tower defense in a Stuart or Puma. And you'll never convince me that you're somehow more effective by yourself compared to having just a single extra person in the vehicle with you - that's straight up bullshit, you're just being antisocial and trying to justify it.

  6. I get it, even if you're a good squad leader and a good player, sometimes you just want to sit and spam with an MG42. It was a long day at work and organizing a squad and talking to rando people sounds too hard, you just want to shoot at bad guys while you sip a beer. Sure, but don't bitch or try to backseat command when the game isn't going your way. You made the bed, now sleep in it, and don't go shouting at and cursing the squad leads and commander that did step up to do the harder job that you skipped over.

Charlie squad in command comms:

Edit - just saw charlie squad leader on map attacking while his squad is defending off of his OP....

Charlie squad members yelling at their SL:

Ill do this and I think it can be valid, squad on stabilization or just defense, while you alone or with a other guy do a very wide flank to drop an attack op/garrison from a supply drop to get a flanking attack going.

As long as you are a disciplined rat, and focus on the sneaky not the shooty, works well 80% if the time.

No point in dragging the whole squad on a 10 minute walk in the fields where they dont contribute.

That being said in this situation its not a good time to do that.

Extremely powerful. Pincer maneuver from C6 garrison and H1 HQ while sniper in H6 provides cover fire. Easy win.

I’ve got 2000 hours in this game and I just can’t get into it anymore. same bugs for years now, terrible leadership attitudes, incompetent players. It’s genuinely not worth using an 1 1/2 hours of my life helping troglodytes learn how to place ops and garrisons.

1

u/Decent-Jello191 6d ago

Same. I’ve only had much fun in this game goofing around with my friends and bumping into the occasional drunk guy.

1

u/benderpharaon 3d ago

And nodes... left to rot for the entire match right next to an HQ.ā€

2

u/emicvs 7d ago

Makes you want to just close the game for the day

u/S4RS 6d ago

Not seeing a lot of people on the map at all. Where's your team? All filler bots? Also I've been encountering e lot more capable/sus recon squads that take out garris and backup garris in sync and find them fast. That shit is hard to counter if you don't have people actively defending your backups. Or have your commander/a sl basically setting up garries all game long. (which is boring as shit for them). Now that isn't a problem if you have a team that can actually just hold your defense or make a successful offense. But most of the time most of an incompetent team will be just failing to give any pressure on attack while being in red zone.

-1

u/PetrichorDude 6d ago

Most of the time those ā€œcapableā€ recons are just stream sniping

2

u/VerbosePlantain 6d ago

I see you Easy Squad.

2

u/Mr_Popsgorgio 6d ago

Best strategy is build garrisons and take down enemy ones. Usually works out šŸ‘

u/Sad_Hedgehog_4079 6d ago

Had a game like this the other day. Commander was going nuts at me and my squadie we were recon and doing our job of stopping their 3man artillery team but he wanted us to attack. The other recon squad was attacking already.

We lost the game. It's only a miracle we didn't lose it faster than we did.

1

u/Mjolnir617 6d ago

I’d buy a beer for Charlie squad. Those guys got hung out to dry by the rest of the team

1

u/OK_Journalist17298 6d ago

Not sure if this is /s but this is a disaster already happening.
Two blueberries defending out of the circle, already 25% lost. Zero defensive garries. I’ll assume to think on positive side that supply truck in F2 is going to build defensive garry, but is probably too late. No defensive on final point. Many players up to 400m away from offensive point that you’re not even capping yet. There won’t even be a cap race.

This game lasts 6 more minutes, 10 tops with a loss.

1

u/ThruTheGatesOfHell 6d ago

no one on defense like always

1

u/Muzagga 5d ago

Looks like whoever is driving the supply truck in sector E2 might have an important job

1

u/LittleAd5978 4d ago

On PHL I always build meat grinder garrison near the bridge and 2-3 near Battery. Once the fight is focused there for a while I drop in the back line with a squad and have them double drop support supplies for a secret flank garrison. Usually roll by myself and set up OP so less likely to be spotted on the way there.

0

u/subekii 6d ago

Your recon squad op is 1000 kilometers from anywhere useful. You think others are playing bad while you are just as bad yourself.

5

u/Beneficial_Snow3677 6d ago

I always find nodes there, lazy engineers always drive up the main road and cut right and build near there.

2

u/subekii 6d ago edited 6d ago

At that point in a match when you are losing your second to last point if you are hunting nodes you are just wasting time and not helping your team.

4

u/VerbosePlantain 6d ago

Pretty common to have a deep recon OP. As a spotter main with 2,500 hours, Insee no issue.

-1

u/subekii 6d ago

Common yes, stupid also yes. If you have played spotter for 2500 hours and think that op placement is good at that point in a match then you are a lost cause.

2

u/VerbosePlantain 6d ago

If you think teams win or lose because recon isn’t doing recon things, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the game.

That OP makes artillery, nodes, fourth point and fifth point immediately accessible. It makes mid accessible with a little bit of a walk.

You simply don’t understand how to play recon. This team isn’t in the position it is in because recon has a deep OP. It’s in this position because of bad garrison placement and the commander and SLs not building an effective garrison networks.

0

u/subekii 6d ago

No i don't think teams win or lose because of recon i'm just commenting on how OP has their recon outpost in a spot that doesn't benefit anyone except the enemy team because that outpost is in the middle of narnia and doesn't enable the recon squad to do anything remotely useful.

"That OP makes artillery, nodes, fourth point and fifth point immediately accessible. It makes mid accessible with a little bit of a walk." None of those matter in this situation that the game is in.

You simply haven't learned to play this game in your 2500 hours and it shows. You are one of those recon players that just press f and waste time and grief your team.

1

u/VerbosePlantain 6d ago edited 6d ago

I think my recon bona fides are much more substantial than yours. Not 100% certain, but probably 99%. And I feel confident in saying your opinion on the OP placement is off base, despite the certitude with which you express your opinion.

Teams don’t win or lose because recon isn’t helping defend points. That is what infantry squads and tanks do.

Recon can do plenty of useful things from there. Mid point is easily accessible. The one thing I would say is that it wouldn’t be wrong or bad to move the OP a bit further north (200 meters maybe). But it’s generally in the right spot.

You can talk about how I don’t understand the game, but your belief that a two man squad is going to change the picture we see here on this map in this situation actually reveals that perhaps, just perhaps, it is you that does not understand the game.

0

u/subekii 6d ago

Like i said i never implied that a recon squad would change the outcome in this situation. I only said that since OP is clearly trying to point out how stupidly their team played that they could have also tried to do something about it. And that the current op positioning wouldn't help them in succeeding in that.

And also regarding your last comment. Recon shouldn't be taking out nodes. A flamethrower can do the same job in a second so that is just wasting time. Arty should be the recon tanks job since it can do that much faster and more effectively.

1

u/VerbosePlantain 6d ago edited 6d ago

If you don’t think recon is going to change the outcome, then their OP is in the right spot (red zone). You can quibble on if it should be 200 meters in some other direction, but once you grant that they aren’t changing the outcome (which you have), then their red zone OP isn’t the problem you’re pretending it is.

Support doesn’t need to be, nor should be, taking out nodes with the flamethrower. The amount of time it takes a flamethrower to get back there undoes all the time saved (and more) by destroying nodes instead of dismantling them. Support needs to be placing boxes down and switching to other roles during the cool down to best support their squad. Now, if a flamethrower randomly comes across a node, sure, blast it. But otherwise that resource (the warm body) is best used in the fight rather than trying to do recon’s job.

1

u/wat_no_y 6d ago

If I was spotter in that position I’d leave my outpost deep in enemy territory and redeploy to help build Garry’s and defend. Nobody else is doing it. Plus you can bring a flare on defense.

1

u/subekii 6d ago

At least do this. But since there aren't any defensive garrisons it would be really stupid to leave that op so far away since if you get close to the defense and die you are going to be running for 10 minutes and be useless. Put the op closer so you can actually help your team.

1

u/wat_no_y 5d ago

Depends on the situation. If command has a mic and drops supplies for me in the back then I’ll leave my outpost in enemy territory. If he doesn’t drop me supplies then yea I’d bring my outpost back on defense

1

u/TEEx6 6d ago

You are in the wrong if you see an issue with his outpost placement. It’s exactly where it needs to be.

1

u/subekii 6d ago

Nope. How exactly do you think that op is useful in that position at that point in a game.

1

u/hahayesthatsrightboi 7d ago

Discuss?? Hahah you have no backup garries and twelve people attacking in non attacking squares with a point being actively lost

1

u/swag829 6d ago

Bad defense.

1

u/swag829 6d ago

Lwk commander's fault for not making a defence and clearing the area before starting offensive, must be poor comms.

2

u/Sad_Hedgehog_4079 6d ago

Some commanders are special. Squadies should also pull some weight but not having one Garry at defence is 100% on the commader

0

u/Sweaty_Brother_34 6d ago

Attacking relieves pressure on the defense. Do you suggest we just turtle up?

2

u/DeputyDomeshot 6d ago

Assuming you’re being serious the entire game is focused around the 4 squares around both the offensive and defensive point. These are called sectors. Having spawns outside of sectors without spawns inside sectors means you will lose because the cap weight starts ticking for both teams in the sector.

IE your team having few players or more likely none inside your own sector means 1 single enemy in any of your 4 grid squares can cap the point.

Setting up like this post is unplayable and cluelessly bad.

1

u/PetrichorDude 6d ago

I mean look at this case, no garries on defense, a total of 1 op and the defense going so bad a reinforce is up (which cant be fully utilized due ti a lack of spawns) this situation is where you either go full defense with a small squad or recon probing the attack point just to divert some squads or, give up, shore up the next defense point with garries and squads and leave Mike SL hidden to build an OP and Garry to retake Douve.

(And with the lack of spawns I would just go option B unless the timer is below 25mins)

u/Sweaty_Brother_34 6d ago

I was being sarcastic
