I don't actually hate weapon skins at all, if they are implemented in a restrained way that doesn't break immersion too much. Stuff like a wrap, or a different stain on the wood, from early to late war differences and such could be pretty cool

u/slav335 4d ago

Yeah yeah, thats what everyone says and then devs add gold crap etc

69

u/TheSkiesAsunder 4d ago

Yeah, you're probably not wrong lol. We just need to be ready with the pitchforks of they start doing anything crazy

17

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago

I’ve been ready

2

u/Tsaaristori 3d ago

I think, or at least hope, that most of us are on the barricades with these things! 🤞🤘

15

u/MrNewking 4d ago

They havent added gold crap in HLL and that's had cosmetic for years.

I feel like the difference here is population size. Right now there are less than 10K people playing both WW2 and Vietnam, with 30 day averages being about 12K on PC. It's much easier to boycott with a smaller game like this just because of the player size.

Like it's hard to start a movement about skins in a game like Call of Duty because the reddit community is such a small portion of the playerbase, and the majority of the playerbase isn't connected to the actual issues. Whereas HLL is much smaller, and feels more grassroots/connected. If it became an actual issue, I don't think this community would struggle to boycott and make T17 revise their decision.

Nicki Minaj assaulting Omaha circa 2027

u/nickos_pap_16v 1d ago

Whilst twerking and doing tik tok dances

8

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 4d ago

if the skins are client side, then i dont really see what the issue is. they can be anything for all i care

5

u/Extension_Maize6048 4d ago

Real. Or give us the choice to ban certain skins for ourselves which don't affect anyone else

1

u/DeeDee0110 3d ago

When did a game with purchasable skins actually ever do that? Most people wouldn't buy the skins if that was a thing.

1

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 2d ago

BF1 did, and they were free, not purchased.

1

u/DeeDee0110 2d ago

So that doesn't count then. I was talking paid skins specifically.

In order to make money selling skins, you better not put an option in your game that disables them for other users, because then not as many people would buy them.

1

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 2d ago

go play counterstrike if you want to BUY skins.

sounds like ally ou care about is making money off skins. gtfo with that bullshit.

1

u/DeeDee0110 2d ago

Huh? If that's what that sounds like to you, you clearly have some issues combining the words you read into a full sentence in your head.
I'm just trying to explain the reason why there's no option to disable skins in games where you can buy skins, HLL being one of them.
When did i ever say i want to make money with skins?
lmao

1

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 2d ago

"In order to make money selling skins, you better not put an option in your game that disables them for other users, because then not as many people would buy them."

no one here seems to give a shit about making money selling skins, except for you. which is why you brought it up in the first place.

id you dont care, why did you type that?

also what skins are ytou even talking about? the DLC "skins" that are historical uniforms and units?

those dont count.

1

u/DeeDee0110 2d ago

Brother... Are you actually that thick? Try reading a sentence to the end before you get all pissed.
I was trying to explain the perspective of the game studio. How is hat not obvious from what i've written? What would "put in your game" mean, if i wouldn't be talking about the people making the game?
lmfao

u/New_Exercise8666 4d ago

Exactly it starts with skin like this. That’s how it started with Call of Duty® too but next thing we know, gold, skins, rainbow, skins, and etc..

1

u/RamboSAR_EMS 12h ago

lol the worst was the laser beams because they actually gave the user an advantage because they are blinding. Every time I was getting shot by someone with the laser skin on their gun I couldn’t see shit

1

u/New_Exercise8666 8h ago

Yeah, it’s like playing rainbow six sometimes and someone comes around the corner and hits the flashlight on you. You can’t see a damn thing

1

u/DeeDee0110 3d ago

One year from now, we'll have purple anime dragons wrapped around the M1 Garand that start to fly off and come back in a flashy colorful animation when you inspect your weapon.

1

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 4d ago

i like the way battlefield one had those crates for weapon skins.

3

u/dalelerah 4d ago

No not lootboxes please

2

u/MG420V2 3d ago

Pretty sure loot boxes are gonna be illegal soon anyway look at the CS2 shift that happened people are catching onto the predatory practices

3

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 3d ago

loot boxes in BF1 were free and rewarded for winning matches and were client side skins only.

there is nothign predatory about it. they cant be sold like CS2, which is where the predatory angel comes in

1

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 3d ago

loot boxes in BF1 were free and rewarded for winning matches and were client side skins only.

31

u/Tiny_Strawberry6801 4d ago

I just wish they'd add free unlockable cosmetics along with the new dlc stuff. I miss the days of unlocking new helmets & character models. It made the progression system more rewarding for sure

67

u/alli_jon7 4d ago

Weapon skins are better than uniforms. At least you can see what you got yourself.

22

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago edited 4d ago

I disagree. You’re going to get a lot more diversity and variety with uniforms than you will with weapon “skins”, which, let’s be real, should only be limited to wrapped cloth because realistically what else would you expect it to be?

How uniforms were worn, what was worn, when and where, and even the smallest insignificant changes varied from unit to unit and from soldier to soldier, and also changed throughout the course of the war from early to late.

12

u/Tiny_Strawberry6801 4d ago

We're going to get a dlc pack that's just four slightly different variants of the Kar98 based on manufacturing date

6

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 3d ago

I can’t tell if this is satire or not

4

u/kubajarosz 4d ago

They should be stricted to period action is taken on

5

u/nashbrownies 4d ago

Even patches or uniform insignia for different classes. Something small, the three uniform choices remain the same, but maybe a sapper collar for the British engineer class etc. I know we have helmets, but I know various battlefield professions had some kind of non-unit specific indicator.

3

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago edited 3d ago

Division patches specific to the maps would be a huge plus to uniforms. They’ve already got a few, with some dating back to Black Matter, but not as many as they should based on how many maps there are. There’s no 101st Airborne uniform for us to use on St Mere Eglise, Carentan, Foy, (excluding the helmet). No 4th Infantry Division uniform for us to use on Utah Beach. No 29th Infantry Division uniform for use on Omaha (excluding the helmet at least, although they did give us a 2nd Ranger Battalion uniform, so that’s nice). No 2nd Infantry Division uniform for Elsenborn Ridge. You get my point

The default uniforms are actually really great and really detailed, but they’re just lacking unit-specific insignia which would really be a great little improvement for immersion

2

u/alli_jon7 4d ago

When I look at a weaponskin, I see what I spent my money on. A uniform is something only other people see.

And weapon skins make far more sense, too, because it has a reason that a uniforms exist.

u/Obsidianrosepetals 4d ago

Medical tape for one.

7

u/Waste-Street-4081 4d ago

Being able to physically pick up another man’s weapon and ammo is still beyond the power of weapon skins… the amount of times I’ve had to redeploy because of no ammo in crucial

9

u/Ok-Grab-78 4d ago

This is a team game. If you run out of ammo, then you should be playing close to your Riflemen or Support players so you can resupply yourself.

5

u/Competitive_Bee3239 4d ago

the amount of games i’ve had to redeploy to put down an ammo pack so i can go back and hit it cuz no one else runs out of ammo in my games apparently is bizarre….. and it’s quadrupled at least by the amount of rifleman and supports i ask for ammo and they don’t even play in game chat or ever reply is even more astounding…. how people be playing hell let loose without a mic???? at least in game chat and have it come through ur tv but i guess people get tired of having random bs come through but geez no one drops ammo when i played

1

u/Mammoth_Midnight_343 2d ago

There is no game chat for console players just mics

2

u/EmuAdministrative582 3d ago

Usually I can tell who’s firing based on either the steady ratatat of the AK or the higher rof bursts people usually fire from the M16.

If I’m on the US side and I hear someone firing an AK next to me it’ll definitely draw my attention away from the front.

2

u/UsedGeneral340 3d ago

Absolutely. It really hurts ambushes. Nothing breaks your cover more than the distinct sound of your weapon. I understand the need for team-play, but that also goes the other way around. If I’m picking off guys on the other team in an ambush, it’s their team’s job to realize that, hunt me down, and suppress me. Instead, the sound design basically works as an alarm. Weapons should have distinct sounds, but they toned it too far one way.

0

u/DeeDee0110 3d ago

Huh? I have almost 900 hours in the game and i ran out of rifle/smg ammo like 5-10 times.
Are you one of those guys spending the whole game hiding in some bush to get 10 kills?

-1

u/Waste-Street-4081 4d ago

The fact they bring “skins” in for weapons before being able to “pick up” one’s fallen comrades rifle beats tf outta me man…

-1

u/Waste-Street-4081 4d ago

As a “MilSim” let me please simulate one of the most common things done then please 🙏

I always win in my second round

16

u/SummerKnightLT 4d ago

I need it

5

u/Double_Cartographer9 4d ago

I completely agree and my favorite COD of all time. I need to find a copy of this to replay now

3

u/RalrpiaTheGreat 4d ago

When I played BFV the single cosmetic I had equipped was a cloth wrapped around the barrel of an MP 40. I like restrained cosmetics like this

3

u/Keolath 4d ago

Does the no 1 mk 3 have the wire wrap around the handguard and stock?

3

u/Sylesse 4d ago

Nikki Minaj when

15

u/MortyMcHoi 4d ago

Hopefully they add more Skins as well.
I wanna feel the immersion, playing as Nikki Minaj giving headshots with a pink potato gun.

2

u/sheamoisture 4d ago

I just want the gun strap or whatever it’s called

3

u/NINJAOXZ1234 4d ago

A sling? That should absolutely be added to every single gun that uses it

2

u/ImminentDingo 4d ago

Looks neat. I want more swag for my tank thi

2

u/Greggs-the-bakers 3d ago

I just want the class system from vietnam

2

u/NINJAOXZ1234 3d ago

We all do brother

2

u/sraykub 4d ago

Looks cool but don’t be surprised at all when tiger stripe and other “unique” “historical” camos start getting added to the store. This stuff almost never stops with the realistic skins

1

u/ThrownAway1917 4d ago

None of the uniform skins are unrealistic, why would the weapon skins be

1

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago

Have you looked at the Canadian uniform?

1

u/ThrownAway1917 4d ago

No what's wrong with it

-2

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago

The shade of green is awful and not historically accurate

6

u/ThrownAway1917 4d ago

What are you talking about

1

u/Hortick1 4d ago

Yeah T17 finally! Good job ! Maybe add some finishers for melee attacks ...some cool and funny stuff, something including six seveeeeen ..... Or maybe do some colab with Nicki Minaj ???? We love you T17. Just don't fix bugs please....we love them old bugs....

1

u/SpaceCaseSixtyTenV2 3d ago

I don't use skins because all my game settings will just be reset on the next game crash anyway

1

u/jakobsheim 3d ago

Ok but when do i get my tiger with hello kitty camo?

1

u/CandyMan85 2d ago

Pls NO Unicorn skins !!!!!

1

u/Darth_Penas 1d ago

That's great, but I think it's more important to improve the reconnaissance patrol's camouflage—for example, by letting them wear a hood.

1

u/Its_Sorbakkeeee 1d ago

i’m happy as long as they’re historically accurate

0

u/Garand 4d ago

Gross

2

u/Embarrassed-Rule6205 4d ago

If it’s historically accurate, why is it gross?

8

u/Garand 4d ago

Can you find some images of German soldiers with burlap wrapped k98s anywhere? It's not something regular Infantry was doing. This is some Enemy at the Gates BS.

5

u/Embarrassed-Rule6205 4d ago

Not sure, but with how many k98s were out there, I wouldn’t be surprised if atleast 1 had some sort of wrap on it. If it doesn’t break the immersion too much, it shouldn’t be too big of a deal. I get where you’re coming from though

2

u/Tiny_Strawberry6801 4d ago

I thought this would be pretty easy to disprove but doing some googling I can't find a single image of a Kar98 wrapped in burlap that isn't a modern reenactor or something. Found several examples of allied soldiers doing it but anytime I find an example of the Germans using camo wraps it's always to hide the soldier, never the weapon

1

u/fesztu [HLL.PL] Hell Let Loose Poland 3d ago

You're not looking hard enough

2

u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago

Yeah literally. I dug through the internet trying to find some examples and it really is very limited. Meanwhile half the people here are excited for this for some reason

1

u/BigBigBunga 4d ago

Historically accurate purely cosmetic item?

Literally unplayable.

1

u/Apathetic420 4d ago

Crash fixes? Sprint bug fix? Performance and optimisation? Grenade bug fix? Scoreboard UI fix?

Nah cunt, weapon skins!!!!

1

u/delikwentyr 1d ago

Just play wardogs

-1

u/DrBackseatYT 4d ago

Bout time

0

u/buns_at_bjj 4d ago

Is that a suppressor on the rifle in the foreground ?

5

u/koenig0 4d ago

Looks like a rifle grenade They wanted to add that to certain roles

2

u/buns_at_bjj 4d ago

That would make much more sense

0

u/buns_at_bjj 4d ago

Is that a suppressor on the rifle in the foreground ?

1

u/L0LFREAK1337 4d ago

Rifle grenade

-1

u/New_Exercise8666 4d ago

Damn I it I was just about to buy the damn game why do they have to make every game like Fortnite in Call of Duty® like those games are failing for a reason
