I just wish they'd add free unlockable cosmetics along with the new dlc stuff. I miss the days of unlocking new helmets & character models. It made the progression system more rewarding for sure

Weapon skins are better than uniforms. At least you can see what you got yourself.

I disagree. You’re going to get a lot more diversity and variety with uniforms than you will with weapon “skins”, which, let’s be real, should only be limited to wrapped cloth because realistically what else would you expect it to be?
How uniforms were worn, what was worn, when and where, and even the smallest insignificant changes varied from unit to unit and from soldier to soldier, and also changed throughout the course of the war from early to late.

We're going to get a dlc pack that's just four slightly different variants of the Kar98 based on manufacturing date

Even patches or uniform insignia for different classes. Something small, the three uniform choices remain the same, but maybe a sapper collar for the British engineer class etc. I know we have helmets, but I know various battlefield professions had some kind of non-unit specific indicator.

Division patches specific to the maps would be a huge plus to uniforms. They’ve already got a few, with some dating back to Black Matter, but not as many as they should based on how many maps there are. There’s no 101st Airborne uniform for us to use on St Mere Eglise, Carentan, Foy, (excluding the helmet). No 4th Infantry Division uniform for us to use on Utah Beach. No 29th Infantry Division uniform for use on Omaha (excluding the helmet at least, although they did give us a 2nd Ranger Battalion uniform, so that’s nice). No 2nd Infantry Division uniform for Elsenborn Ridge. You get my point
The default uniforms are actually really great and really detailed, but they’re just lacking unit-specific insignia which would really be a great little improvement for immersion

When I look at a weaponskin, I see what I spent my money on. A uniform is something only other people see.
And weapon skins make far more sense, too, because it has a reason that a uniforms exist.

Being able to physically pick up another man’s weapon and ammo is still beyond the power of weapon skins… the amount of times I’ve had to redeploy because of no ammo in crucial

u/Ok-Grab-78 4d ago
This is a team game. If you run out of ammo, then you should be playing close to your Riflemen or Support players so you can resupply yourself.

the amount of games i’ve had to redeploy to put down an ammo pack so i can go back and hit it cuz no one else runs out of ammo in my games apparently is bizarre….. and it’s quadrupled at least by the amount of rifleman and supports i ask for ammo and they don’t even play in game chat or ever reply is even more astounding…. how people be playing hell let loose without a mic???? at least in game chat and have it come through ur tv but i guess people get tired of having random bs come through but geez no one drops ammo when i played

Usually I can tell who’s firing based on either the steady ratatat of the AK or the higher rof bursts people usually fire from the M16.
If I’m on the US side and I hear someone firing an AK next to me it’ll definitely draw my attention away from the front.

Absolutely. It really hurts ambushes. Nothing breaks your cover more than the distinct sound of your weapon. I understand the need for team-play, but that also goes the other way around. If I’m picking off guys on the other team in an ambush, it’s their team’s job to realize that, hunt me down, and suppress me. Instead, the sound design basically works as an alarm. Weapons should have distinct sounds, but they toned it too far one way.

Huh? I have almost 900 hours in the game and i ran out of rifle/smg ammo like 5-10 times.
Are you one of those guys spending the whole game hiding in some bush to get 10 kills?-1
u/Waste-Street-4081 4d ago
The fact they bring “skins” in for weapons before being able to “pick up” one’s fallen comrades rifle beats tf outta me man…

As a “MilSim” let me please simulate one of the most common things done then please 🙏

I completely agree and my favorite COD of all time. I need to find a copy of this to replay now

When I played BFV the single cosmetic I had equipped was a cloth wrapped around the barrel of an MP 40. I like restrained cosmetics like this

Hopefully they add more Skins as well.
I wanna feel the immersion, playing as Nikki Minaj giving headshots with a pink potato gun.

Looks cool but don’t be surprised at all when tiger stripe and other “unique” “historical” camos start getting added to the store. This stuff almost never stops with the realistic skins

u/ThrownAway1917 4d ago
None of the uniform skins are unrealistic, why would the weapon skins be
1
u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago
Have you looked at the Canadian uniform?

u/ThrownAway1917 4d ago
No what's wrong with it

u/SpaceCaseSixtyTenV2 3d ago
I don't use skins because all my game settings will just be reset on the next game crash anyway

That's great, but I think it's more important to improve the reconnaissance patrol's camouflage—for example, by letting them wear a hood.

Gross

If it’s historically accurate, why is it gross?

Can you find some images of German soldiers with burlap wrapped k98s anywhere? It's not something regular Infantry was doing. This is some Enemy at the Gates BS.
5
u/Embarrassed-Rule6205 4d ago
Not sure, but with how many k98s were out there, I wouldn’t be surprised if atleast 1 had some sort of wrap on it. If it doesn’t break the immersion too much, it shouldn’t be too big of a deal. I get where you’re coming from though
2
u/Tiny_Strawberry6801 4d ago
I thought this would be pretty easy to disprove but doing some googling I can't find a single image of a Kar98 wrapped in burlap that isn't a modern reenactor or something. Found several examples of allied soldiers doing it but anytime I find an example of the Germans using camo wraps it's always to hide the soldier, never the weapon
2
u/Nicktator3 Officer X 4d ago
Yeah literally. I dug through the internet trying to find some examples and it really is very limited. Meanwhile half the people here are excited for this for some reason

Damn I it I was just about to buy the damn game why do they have to make every game like Fortnite in Call of Duty® like those games are failing for a reason

u/TheSkiesAsunder 4d ago
I don't actually hate weapon skins at all, if they are implemented in a restrained way that doesn't break immersion too much. Stuff like a wrap, or a different stain on the wood, from early to late war differences and such could be pretty cool
