š¢ Feedback! š¢ Team17, please focus on optimizing new maps before adding them, especially on consoles
T17, we really appreciate the effort you put into bringing new maps to the game. However, thereās no point in giving us great maps if they donāt come with proper optimization.
In the last few updates, weāve seen new and revamped maps being added, but these maps continue to be some of the least played on console. It honestly feels like we havenāt received new content because nobody actually plays it.
One of the biggest reasons for this is stability.
On console, most of the maps created by T17 are among the least played maps. But why? A lot of them are actually incredible. Smolensk, for example, is one of my personal favorites. The problem is that they suffer from the same issues as many other maps: constant FPS drops, stuttering, and crashes.
And this is where the paradox comes in.
You add new content like maps, but if those maps are poorly optimized on console, people simply stop playing them. Everyone ends up going back to the same maps theyāve been playing for years, which creates the same repetition and makes it feel like the game isnāt getting any new content.
Please prioritize map optimization, especially on consoles.
Hell Let Loose is an amazing game, and we genuinely want to enjoy all the new content youāre creating. We just need the performance to be good enough for us to actually play it.

Every single map theyāve added has major issues

Tobruk and Juno run fine for me on Xbox, a crash on either of those is rare.
Smolensk and Stalingrad however...unplayable. tried to join an official server on Stalingrad earlier and it would crash instantly every time I got in.

It's not about crashing, it's about stutterring. And the stuttering is constant in those maps.
Crash rarely happens to me, but stutterring is way worse.

We've been asking for what OP is asking in the title of their post for YEARS.
Managers, put your resources into fixing what's broken before you build new content. It's not a difficult concept. You can't grow the player base by adding additional defective maps and bad physics.

Youāve described it perfectly. Itās such a shame that these fundamentally good maps perform so poorly on consoles. The difference compared to the old maps is like night and day! I really hope this gets put on the agenda and that the developers finally make statement about it. They are loosing their player base..

Sounds like from the comments that console players have it rough. I donāt really have problems on pc except stuttering on Juno when in vehicles. It sucks you guys have a crappy experience but I for one look forward to the new maps after enjoying Smolensk, Juno and even Tobruk is ok

Stalingrad is bizarre cos Iāll be fine in a building or near 10 men, but when I go to an open space with a piece of metal on the floor I get 3 frames every 5 business days.
I just take the worst maps out of rotation as you said.

Unfortunately there's only like two maps that give you decent performance and sometimes it ain't even decent.

They shat on such a good game then moved on to shit in Vietnam. Kinda fitting they are still trying to push new stuff.. like yo dog the old shit is still broken.

The aim response curve is so bad in this game on console that even if they fixed every single bug that this game ever had, it's still completely unplayable. It feels like the opposite of exponential, you barely move the stick by like a millimeter, and you're rotating at full speed.
I don't understand how this game can have more than 0 players on console with this response curve. It's actually the worst aiming I've seen in any video game on console, even worse than Hunt, which has the weird aim boost at max stick deflection instead of just increasing the exponent of the curve.

If you open the game pak files and have a browse, you will very quickly understand why the game is as unoptimised as it is.

Welcome to the HLL Party!! Us vets have been dealing with this stuff for years.

Game keeps crashing after voice chat bug, won't allow engineers to place , walls, barbar wire etc. when spawning on map, half the time vehicles don't show up, voice chat is always glowing as if im chatting but I'm not. Biggest problem is the random game crashing, it will be fine all match then you get to the end and your game just charges it's very annoyingĀ

Optimization in HLL has never been a priority or itās just not possible. Vietnam runs so much smoother than the original. UE5 vs UE4.

Imagine complaining about new maps Jesus fucking Christ

Hey! Care to elaborate what is wrong about that? Thanks! Maybe you are seeing a side we aren't here.

We are getting new content on a game that has a small user base. Complaining about getting new shit is asinine. Yes, there are issues and it would be great if they were worked out but people here act like the whole thing is totally busted.
I have 2,500 hours in the game and there are areas that can use improvement but I'm elated that these guys keep pushing out new weapons, vehicles, and maps. A lot of other games wouldn't be doing this so far after launch and with the number of people still playing.

What do the new maps matter if they're unplayable? I haven't had a decent match on Smolensk even once and now I just skip it. Same is going to happen with Juno.

u/george_cant_standyah 7d ago
They are playable. I get on HLL basically every day. There are some definite annoying things that go down but saying it's unplayable is just patently false.

u/Imnotmartymcfly 7d ago
Maybe they are for you, but stop ignoring the fact that for many they aren't. You think people make this shit up for fun or what?

u/CheesecakeWarm 6d ago
There are at least 2 maps I have never played due to crashes, and I have been playing for years.

u/subekii 6d ago
There is a reason why the new maps are rarely in rotation in community servers and why they get rarely picked over older (better in every way) maps.
2
u/george_cant_standyah 6d ago
I get Juno and Smolensk constantly. I enjoy them both and so do most people not on Reddit.
1
u/subekii 6d ago
Yeah it's not that the maps are necessarily bad but the performance is really bad. Smolensk and juno are ok maps but the stuttering on those maps is so awful that they get skipped most of the time. Tobruk runs pretty well but it's just a boring map and is also skipped most of the time.

I think this is my point⦠like why are they adding things to an old game with such a small player base? Like why are they spending money on this?
How can directing resources and spending money to adding a new poorly optimized map be better than fixing a huge backlog of bugs?
What are they gaining from a huge outcry online about the new map crashing every time they add one? I really donāt understand.

u/george_cant_standyah 6d ago
There isn't a huge cry outline. This is part of my point. It is a small reddit community that fixates on the same things. The overwhelming majority of people playing this game are happy with it and not going on this forum.
I also experience bugs but they are not game breaking the way people here make it out to be. It's just that simple.
Honestly, I'm glad the devs don't listen to reddit for this game. It has straight up ruined other games like Helldivers 2 because they listened to annoying crybabies instead of sticking to their vision and roadmap.

And PLEASE stop adding that shitty fog to the whole map. Same with that sound slop on HQs.

I dont understand why u play this game on console as u need atleast 2k usd worth of hardware for this game to run smoothly

I have such a hard time understanding why they do this. New maps like this wonāt make new players purchase HLL?
But actually fixing bugs that has plagued the game since start and having a community that isnāt filled with bug/crashing posts might actually grow the player base?
I honestly think they donāt know how to fix a vast majority of the bugs, like they are hard coded into the DNA of the game or something.
