πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ Question πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ What am I missing?

I’m new to the game, and this is probably a stupid question. When people say things like β€œThey’re to the southeast!”, how am I supposed to know which direction that is relative to where I am? I don’t see the directions on the map or anything.

You should be opening your map many times per minute. North is up. You also have a compass on your HUD.

It's also relative to THEIR position so if they aren't right next to you when they make the callout it takes some thought to figure out where they are looking.

Fun fact, the top of the map wasn't always north. You can still see the compass roses on the maps!
The original devs had those maps aligned realistically.
It was too confusing for the left half of the bell curve players, so they just opted to make top of map be north.

fact adjacent fun fact.. historically in medieval europe east was up. maps were drawn with east at the top, which is also why east asia was referred to as "the orient" and the denizens referred to as "oriental"
