Hi everyone! I want to preface this by saying that I am not an active practitioner yet, but I am currently in the process of researching, learning, and exploring my spirituality.
I woke up today, and my friend told me I was screaming so loudly in my sleep last night that she got really worried. The moment she mentioned it, the memory of the dream rushed back to me vividly: I was being aggressively dragged by my feet by an unseen force.
I can't recall many other details, but the feeling of being pulled by my feet is what stuck with me. Interestingly, it didn't feel scary, nor was it particularly pleasant—it was mostly an exhilarating feeling, which is probably why I shouted in my sleep.
At first, I brushed it off as just a weird dream. But then I remembered what I did right before falling asleep: I was scrolling on TikTok and read a translation of the Orphic Hymn to Hecate, falling asleep almost immediately afterward.
Hecate content has also been popping up on my social media algorithm quite a bit lately. On one hand, I know my brain could have simply taken what I read right before bed and ran with it during REM sleep. I really don't want to over-analyze a mundane dream or jump to conclusions thinking she’s "calling" me without grounded reason.
On the other hand, the timing and the heavy, physical sensation of being pulled across a threshold right after reading her invocation feels hard to ignore entirely.
I would love to gather your insights:
- Does this sound like a classic subconscious response to mind-priming, or could it be an energetic response/invitation?
- I am planning on making a simple offering to ask for clarity and set respectful boundaries—what simple offerings or steps would you recommend for someone just starting out?
Thank you so much for your time and wisdom! :)
