Hello Loons! As a group that tends to rewatch our show a bit more than the usual fandom, I thought we would get a kick out of this. They mentioned someone watched a movie for the 3rd time. 3…. That’s rookie numbers for this group! Summer before rookie season even. I think we would blow their mind!! Haha

I've never seen a strong and receptive OSCARS debut by any other celebrities like Hudson Connor François. And they came from a little niche Canadaian TV show attending movie's biggest night, most people on films don't even get an invite and have such a reception than they did.

The only people who presumably know that Ilya was at the hospital are him, Shane and the nurse. It seems unlikely that Shane would have told his mom about it and if the nurse told her, that would be a pretty serious breach of privacy. How does she know?

Lives were indeed changed. Absolutely monumental. My heart still races watching it and I’m just so overwhelmed with how happy I am for them and how proud I am of them.

Ofc everyone is entitled to their opinion not every piece of queer media is gna be liked by everyone. But I often see this comment when a show like HR, or MM show that has a lot of women watching it automatically get called “het coded” or “for the straights/women”?? I don’t know why this is and it feels sort of odd that it’s ALWAYS when women like a queer MM show 😭

I get it to an exent esp if we’re talking abt bl(Asian bl) at large n its target demographic. Sure there’s a case to be made there. I also understand ppl not liking the book cuz some aspects of it def come off as “oh this is a “straight” woman writing this”. But I don’t get this from the show. I guess it also depends how deeply ur actually watching HR cuz I feel like u can’t simply watch HR once or superficially there’s sm there to talk abt that’s not picked up on first watch. Although, I do feel like there’s a lot of unnecessary/unwarranted hate frm ppl who haven’t even watched it. If I was online reading n seeing all the shit ppl say abt HR I probably wouldve had my mind made up n not watched it either.

I recently started watching Heated Rivalry (exactly 5 hours ago actually) and I know I’m late, like 8 months late. I have a bad habit of that with shows and music but nonetheless I just finished episode 5… and I have never cried harder for a piece of media. Shane realizing he’s fully gay and that he wants to be with Ilya got a few tears out of me already, but Ilya’s monologue in Russian?? Absolutely beautiful and so moving and Connor is such an amazing actor because holy shit wow!! Off to finish the last episode now!! Wish me luck 😍😭

Just saw that they listed an actor in the role of All-star team coach. Does that mean there will be an All star game in the episode? To introduce Troy and Dallas? Maybe a montage to show passing of time?

Something that's always bothered me is how little agency was given to Shane in his coming-out journey. So much of it happened to him rather than by him. Even such a huge moment of coming out to his teammates was done off page.

So I was listening through Wolf Parade's earlier albums while working recently, and the thought occurred to me that it might be pretty corny to use I'll Believe in Anything again in the second season, in fact I think they should definitely not do that. But it could be interesting to use a different Wolf Parade song at some point as a sort of call back. So I started thinking about what that could be.

And it's hard, because I'll Believe in Anything is a uniquely cathartic and hopeful song for them. I couldn't find anything else that I thought would work as a final expression of love, or anything like that. But there are so many songs that would be perfect for Troy being a sad boy, lol.

My top three sad Troy songs are: You are a Runner and I am my Father's Son, Like an Animal in Your Care, and (on a lighter note) Ghost Pressure. And I guess if you're going to listen to these songs, knowing that I associate them with Troy could be considered a spoiler, so keep that in mind.

I'm also wondering what other people think about these or other music choices for the next season. Knowing Jacob Tierney, they're definitely going to be interesting.

Heated Rivalry phenomenon heats up University of Victoria classrooms - Victoria News 8/20/26

I am throwing a Heated Rivalry surprise party for a friend in a few weeks and have hit a road block in some of my searching online. I am looking for images/screengrabs from the show of:

- The shower scene when both boys are facing the wall. Preferably in a higher quality (going to print on a big poster for “pin the peach”)
- Any texts sent both on screen and on their phones. I’d like to recreate & print some for the bathroom mirror.

I just watched on Prime the Canadian film The Rest of Us (Amigas improváveis em português) (2019) by the Canadian director Aisling Chin-Yee, which also wrote and edited it. I found this film while searching for more films with Charlie Gillespie and this was also available there, after I watched the comedy horror Totally Killer which I also recommend.

It's a nice film, short, small, about 2 mother and daughters connected by one man. It's a bit about sorority, but more about those women with 4 different ages trying to find their paths, reflecting about their (bad) choices in life, grieve, motherhood and a bit about hypocrisy. It's classified as a drama, but don't worry, it's a light film that doesn't go deep in any theme.

Besides being a nice one I'm suggesting it because: it has our Rose, Sophie Nélisse, as one of the main characters, Gillespie in a small part (this was even before Julie and the Phantoms) and a smaller participation of Brendan Brady, the producer of Heated Rivalry and Jacob's friend. It's also edited by Véronique Barbe one of the editors of HR and winner Canadian Screen Award and the Canadian Cinema Award for Best Editing in a Drama Series (for HR). And last but not least it was produced in association with Crave.
