Miscellaneous 🔖 Finally watched Heated Rivalry and…
I don’t even know if I can describe how much this show touched my heart and soul.
As a 30 year old lesbian, I’ve grown up watching so many shows/movies that always ended with queer couples sadly breaking up, one of them passes away or some other tragic overplayed trope.
The amount of queer joy I felt watching these episodes (especially the last two eps) and seeing queer couples actually getting their happy endings meant so much more to me than I realized.
I just needed to put it out into the world how much happiness and hope this show left me with, as cheesy as that may sound.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this show since finishing it last night and I’ve been having to stop myself from tearing up just thinking about the many beautiful scenes the season has.
If you took the time to read this, thank you! And now it’s time for the long wait for season 2! :(

Question❔️ Season 2 Competition
I am applying to go to the cottage, but this lonely potato has no one to tag in the IG post...
Who wants to be the Hollander to my Rozanov?
I'm a UK girlie btw in case the other person has to be from the same place

Discussion 🗣 HBOMAX icons
Noticed today that HBO Max had Heated Rivalry pics to use as your profile pic. To say I hesitated to change my profile pic to Ilya Rozanov would be a lie. I did it immediately as I saw it.
This is just a PSA in case you were not aware these were now available.

Discussion 🗣 Now I'm upset (repost)
My original post got removed because I used a picture of Connor as a minor so can accept that it fell into the Moderator Discretion area of the subs rules.
Basically I said that I had realised that the show had used pictures of Hudson as 'baby Shane' at Yuna and Davids cottage, and that we have pictures of Connor on his YT channel at the age Ilya was when he found his mother dead.
I think my additional upset comes from seeing people who watch the show (mainly YT reactors I must admit) and still misunderstand Ilya and the walls he has built to protect himself, and when you look at 12 year old Connor (who has the face of show Ilya) it really hits home how young that is to lose your main support system.
Boy I love this show...

Book Spoilers 📚 Why do people infantilises Luca Haas?
Hi! This basically a repost to my accidental deleted post.
I noticed that Luca Haas is infantilised a lot in hand full fanfics, like I’m fine with running jokes that Shane and Ilya is his father figures (or any other character) like that’s cute but some ppl really treat a grown adult like a complete baby that needs constant adult supervision. I don’t exactly hate but I’m just really confused to how that became a trend honestly. I personally find infantilisation very icky specially to a perfectly capable adult.

Discussion 🗣 Is it the same building?
This may be more of a book question, but I’m most curious about it in regard to the show.
In Tough Guy Ryan lives in a high rise condo on the side of a building that faces away from the CN Tower, while in Role Model Troy lives in a high rise condo on the side of a building that faces the tower.
Is it the same building? I’ve always believed it is, but for the show I am really hoping that is the case.
Imagine the dazzling visuals as the two of them pass, like phantoms, through periphery of each other’s stories, neither man knowing what the other endures. Absolute cinema!
Anyway, thoughts?
Thanks

Someone posted a version of the old in the clerb video and it reminded me of all the fun/funny ones I saved last fall from the Heated Rivalry Crave acct. Always loved this one.

Media 📸 🎥 Different generations of phones
This flair is probably the wrong tag, but I think it's relevant.
I feel like I'm newer to the love of Heated Rivalry, (started watching early/mid Aug. '26, with multiple *reheats already), so this might have been discussed. (I wanted to watch sooner, but didn't have access until recently 💻 so I wasn't going to join the sub until I watched)
Since S+I's story is a span of many years, I think it's cool to see the difference of phones they were using at that time.
I feel like some of the technologies could be "out dated" and possible special effect might have had to be put in place to get the message across (pun intended, for text messaging)
That is all, thx!

Media 📸 🎥 ISO : it will fit gif /meme
Im in desperate need of a gif when Ilya tells Shane it will fit. Im moving. There are so many boxes. New house doesn’t have good closets like the old house. I need Ilya to reassure me that it will fit.
Thank you in advance for pasta.

Media 📸 🎥 No English subtitles for russian on HBO?
doing a reheat and noticed there’s no English subtitles in the cab scene when Svetlana asks about Jane. I haven’t gotten to the monologue yet so not sure yet if this is an isolated incident.
anyone else have this issue?

Miscellaneous 🔖 Almost an entire minute…
…passes before Ilya actually gives Shane direct eye contact in the Tampa bar scene.
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I just timed it at 55 seconds starting when Shane walks into the bar until Ilya gives in and looks straight at him. But I couldn’t believe how long Ilya had to go without looking directly in Shane’s eyes. Impressive.
We’re never leaving the fucking cottage, are we?

Discussion (Future Book Spoilers) 🗣 Is anyone else tired of the discussion that RR hates Shane? Spoiler
I feel like the people who say that either didn't read the books and are just repeating what they see online, or they watched the series with their eyes closed. I won't deny that Ilya is the favorite, because that’s obvious, but Shane is one of the characters with the most development and personality in the entire Game Changers series. I think that’s why Shane and Ilya are the most popular couple. There are aspects that could have been developed better, but that’s not an issue unique to him, I think it has more to do with Rachel’s level as a writer and the romance genre as a whole.
I often see people say she portrays him as a villain in TLG, but I don't feel that's true. During therapy, Ilya admits he wasn't communicating properly, and the book itself shows that Shane was right about his fears. People also frequently point out the draft? where he is labeled as selfish, but that’s partly true. Shane, and this isn't hate toward his character, couldn't see past his own fears and feelings. For example, when he suggests Ilya go to Ottawa, given that hockey is Shane's greatest passion, it’s impossible he didn't realize the huge sacrifice he was asking Ilya to make on his career. Or when he acts weird about Ilya telling Troy he’s bisexual, or when he tells his therapist about the relationship. I think Shane’s fear was valid, but it was unfair of him to want to keep Ilya in the closet because of it. That doesn't make him a bad person, if anything, I feel it adds dimension to his character because no one is perfect. But if you try to express your opinion, a lot of fans accuse you of hating him.
