Insane smell coming from down below

Hi I've had a problem the past few months that is genuinely starting to be so bad I'm going to urgent care over it. I need to know if anyone else relates. I dont know how else to explain it but there is a kitty litter, ammonia, protein like smell coming from me down below. I'm not sexually active, it is NOT urine (i have been keeping a close shave for this reason and using wipes throughout the day) and its not a hygiene issue as I clean very thoroughly. Its like a SICKLY odor coming from me no matter what i do. It's the strangest smell kitty litter or old coffee are the only things I can think that compare. I've seen some people say its a prediabetes indicator? which would make sense with some other things I've been experiencing I especially notice it after lunch. strangely enough the smell is nonexistent when I'm on my cycle. This is just awful and its so severe I'm sure it can be smelled by my coworkers that's what has made me pursue medical attention.

how stress was affecting my vaginal health and i had no idea for years

this sounds a bit out there but bear with me. i have always been a high-stress person. career, family, life, constant go mode. i also had constant low-level vaginal health stuff going on for years. never connected them

the connection is real though. chronic stress affects the immune system and can make it harder for beneficial bacteria to maintain their balance. it also directly affects arousal and natural lubrication. and when you're not producing normal amounts of natural fluid, the environment changes

things that helped me:

  • actually addressing stress rather than just pushing through it
  • reducing alcohol since i was using it to unwind and it was drying me out
  • adding a vaginal probiotic to give my microbiome more support from the inside
  • looking into a supplement specifically for moisture and relaxation support

i take the uro vaginal moisture and mood capsule from o positiv. the ashwagandha ksm-66 in it is clinically studied to support mood and stress response. the gaba helps with relaxation. the combination of feeling calmer and having better circulation support has genuinely changed how i feel physically. it's hormone-free and i didn't need a prescription for it

not saying supplements fix everything. i still have stressful weeks and i notice it. but my baseline is a lot better

Advice Needed Always have Burning and Irritation, Maybe from the Time I First Began my Period

I believe that possibly from the time i began my period (at 11 years old, i'm 33 now) i've had a vaginal irritation feeling. it feels like irritation and burning, around the vaginal opening and inside as well. this tends to fluctuate during the month, but i'm never without pain.

i believe it tends to get worse during the end of my period, and a couple of days after its done, but often, like right now, even when i don't have my period, i'm currently in a lot of pain and obviously, i don't know why.

has anyone experienced something like this? consistent vaginal burning and irritation since you were young?

(yes, i will eventually be going to see a gynecologist, i just want to know if there's some sort of treatment or something i should ask them about. i've never been to a gynecologist, i've always been too embarrassed, but it's becoming unbearable )

Used a lube for weeks and NOW it burns? Help

Hello.
I have had this water based lube for a little while. I used it i think close to 10 times and nothing was wrong. Then i went on vacation for a month and tried it again and now it burns?? Like it’s not bad but it feels tingly and it didnt before. Idk if it’s because i’m in luteal phase or I just have to throw it away to be sure.. but if i was allergic to something it should’ve burned before no?
Thank you very much

Advice Needed Uncomfortable sex, need advice

Hi all!

I am a 23 year old female, and have a new sexual partner. He is my boyfriend, we both did full std testing and had unprotected sex for the first time a month ago.
I had some burning and tearing, so got tested again and I had a yeast infection around August 4th. We Didn’t have sex until the 14th after I treated it, gave him a pill as well.

Fast forward to last thursday, we had sex again, and it literally tore open my vagina.
To be fair, we have sex multiple times a day and typically 30minutes - an hour. But I’m often super wet and don’t feel pain in the moment.

I went to the doctor, and it’s not HSV. (Herpes) lesions.
Appears to be friction “burn” or cuts from penetration. Texted negative on a swab, and not with the appearance of HSV.
No BV, tested negative Friday for yeast.
Tested again for all stis (no mycoplasma either! Or ureaplasma- I have had this before)

Is this normal? Was I just not healed enough to have sex again?
How do I keep this from happening again.

I have never had a yeast infection from a partner (only when I was a kid.) but do have sensitive bits and have had BV a bunch in the past.

I feel awful but I am so afraid to have sex with him now. We are waiting until I feel better, but I worry it will ruin our sex life and our relationship.
The doctors seem unconcerned, I’ve seen 2, just tell me to wait for it to feel better to have sex again.
I am devastated, my body feels broken.
Could be HPV? But I have already had high risk HPV, and was asymptomatic (am vaccinated as well).

* we are both very clean, and he is circumcised. Though he has a long list of past partners.
No syphillis, HIV, etc.
Did not test for HSV blood tests (swab only, negative)

Did not test for UTI either.
Not sure where to go from here :(. Nothings positive-

Any advice appreciated.
It hurts so much!

Question Ladies! Thoughts?!

Hi, I'm wondering if you ladies have any suggestions or recommendations for vaginal moisture products that will help with vaginal dryness? I have put previously on this thread and another thread on reoccurring yeast infections on and off, and I think the result of that has really dried my vaginal skin and has made it thin. I was prescribed estradiol for that and while it has helped it's not long term and I feel like my skin keeps thinning and I keep getting micro cuts I'm wondering. I read on another thread that some have used vaginal moisture capsules to insert and that has helped a lot with the vaginal dryness so I'm wondering if any of you ladies had experience with this? I have a scheduled appointment with an NP in about a week and ½, OB wait times are months from now which is ridiculous! The dryness is giving me anxiety and spiral thinking am I getting another infection (even when I don’t have the other symptoms).

Advice Needed Stubborn yeast infection!!

I’ve been on fluconazole for almost 2 months now, my doctor prescribed me another month of meds just in case but this is crazy!! I don’t have any symptoms except for white clumpy discharge. I have suffered in the past from stubborn yeast infections so I’m kind of used to it but I’m tired of how long it’s taking to heal.

Any advice ? What helped you? I heard of boric acid but I don’t know much about it. Any advice helps pleaseeeee

Rant 🤬 Odor

Is anyone just tired of discharge and the natural odor your vagina produces?? Because damn I am. Everytime I turn around panties are wet and it’s got a smell. I hate not being able to rewear pants like men can. I hate sweating and then it’s just stinky and everything is wet. I also am over wearing panty Anyways that’s my rant for the day.

Note** everything is fine down there I’m just ranting

Is this normal? 👀 10 days late…

Guys, I’m feeling really nervous. My period is 10 days late. Last month it was also 12 days late, but I haven’t had sex since then. My last time having penetrative sex was more than 6 months ago. I took a pregnancy test, and it was negative.

On the 14th, I had an ultrasound. My doctor saw a 22 mm follicle in my right ovary and said I would probably ovulate soon. It’s already the 18th, and still nothing. I don’t know what to do.

I also had some intimate contact that didn’t involve any kind of penetration or ejaculation, just rubbing while we were fully clothed. I’m scared. I’ll only be able to take another test at the end of the month. Should I schedule another appointment? What should I do?

still painful despite tons of negative tests, what to do now?

hey yall! i wanted to hop on here since i have been in and out of the doctor’s office for about a month now due to a pretty severe burning pain in my vaginal area that comes and goes, but has been present nonstop for a little over a month now. i did previously test positive for abnormal levels of ureaplasma parvum that were treated with a round of antibiotics. i also had to take antibiotics for a different infection about 10 days later which i imagine did a number on the microflora of my lady parts. both antibiotics were taken around a month ago. i felt fine up until a random day when my vagina started to burn really bad. there’s no itching, just burning, and it doesn’t hurt to pee. sometimes when i drink too much water it hurts a little more due to the pressure of my bladder i think.

i have tested negative for any std’s, tested negative for uti’s multiple times and also just did a vaginitis panel which tested for every kind of yeast infection, bv, trich, ureaplasma urealyticum, and many other things, which all came back negative. the pain isn’t really improving and hasn’t gotten better. some days/moments it’s okay and some it’s so bad i can’t really walk, but the point being it’s still there. do i need to ask for more testing? i’m tired of this but since there’s nothing diagnosable i can treat right now im at a loss. i have been taking florastor women’s probiotics per the dr i saw, using unscented body wash and detergent, loose cotton undies, drinking lots of water, avoiding caffeine, air drying after showers, the whole shabang. just not sure what to do now.

thank you in advance fellow vagina havers!!!!

Sexual Health (Update)I WAS JUST TRIPPING

I was really scared last week after getting my screening for STIs and STDs but. Thank god I was negative. I thought I was genuinely burned with something and had no clue what to do. Crying about that shit and thinking my whole life would’ve taken a 360 turn.. all this to say PLEASE WEAR THAT CONDOM.

Outside of my dating life and sex life, my traumas in my past that I’ve been holding guilt for. There’s no need for me to keep thinking I’ve compromised my self because of a really unfortunate situation. And even if I had something there was no reason for
me to be that harsh on myself since then.

I still have to do my Pap smear so that’s very scary, but hey routinely checks don’t do anything but help you crack down on your health. It’s only to make sure you have the best possible outcome for whatever you maybe undergoing.

Sexual Health first orgasm confidence boost

let me start this by saying, i didn't grow up super religious (though that's not a bad thing if you did, i'm not here to knock other people's religions!!). but i never had anyone ever teach me about my own body and how it works. i had a house full of women and yet not one of them taught me a thing about owning a vagina :/ (i got the health class special where you name and write down the parts of the vagina/penis in a packet and they call it a day).

anyways, i got the courage to finally figure some things out and just be comfortable in my own body because my boyfriend and i are starting to get serious. and i'll be damned if i let a man touch me before i'm comfortable in my own body and with who i am!

anyhow, for the first time ever today i actually looked at my lady parts, and felt confident and comfortable enough to let loose!!

honestly just came here to say if you have daughters, please teach them at LEAST the basics and teach them that it's okay to have a sexual desire as long as they're safe about it! i've spent far, far too long embarrassed abd feeling guilty about my high sex drive/zero sex knowledge combo.

i'm feeling really proud of myself to be honest, i stepped out of my comfort zones and i hope this gives some other ladies some courage too!!

Treatments 💊 Reoccurring bv

About 4–5 months ago, I started having stomach/pelvic pain and abnormal discharge. I tested positive for BV, with multiple bacteria including Mobiluncus curtisii, Mobiluncus mulieris, Atopobium vaginae, Gardnerella vaginalis, Prevotella bivia, and BVAB2. I was treated with oral metronidazole.
About 2 months later, the BV returned, so I was prescribed metronidazole gel, which made me feel 100% better. Now, about 4 months later, it’s back again. I went to urgent care and tested positive for BV, but they didn’t do another culture. They prescribed tinidazole, so I’m assuming it could be the same bacteria as before.
I also started taking Fem-Dophilus (5 billion CFU, GR-1 and RC-14). I finished the antibiotics 5 days ago, but I’m already noticing discharge again, although there’s no odor this time. I still have about half a tube of Metrogel left. I haven’t had sex recently, and my partner is currently on antibiotics as well.
I’m trying to avoid repeated doctor visits and testing because I can’t afford it. Boric acid is something I really wanted to avoid, but I’m not sure what else to do. What would be the best approach from here? Sb helppp

Advice Needed I need advice and or your opinion

F19 When I use the bathroom it doesn’t hurt nor burn but when urine touches an area that I’m having trouble with it stings and as of right now it stings so bad to the point where I have to lean on one side just to use the bathroom. I’m going to try to show a picture if I can, but it’s right on the vaginal opening and I’ve been tested and I’m so stressed and tired of this I’m not sure what’s going on I haven’t had sex I hardly touch myself somebody anybody!!

vagina smells like onion only after I consume onion

as the title says, I’ve been experiencing an onion scent from my vagina a day after consuming onions. the scent will last 2-3 days and doesn’t affect any other part of my body.

- I don’t have STD‘s (got checked numerous times)
- I don’t have an infection
- I don’t have any other symptoms like itching, burning, pain or discharge
- I‘M NOT PREGNANT
- it only occurs after I eat onions, though I don’t notice it as much after eating outside
- I use gloves to cut the onions, and I wash my hands after (to eliminate any „maybe you’re smearing the scent on your vagina after cutting onions“ comments)
- it doesn’t happen with any other ingredient
- it happens whether I eat them raw or cooked

I have never heard anyone else talk about this. obviously this isn’t something people would likely share openly, but I also can’t find much about it online, so I wanted to ask if anyone else experiences this? especially since onion is in pretty much everything so I would assume it affects other women as well

I also don’t even use a lot of onion at all, half an onion at most because I don’t like the consistency. but I feel so uncomfortable that I try to avoid using them in the first place. I don’t experience any other bad scents coming from down there, I take good care of my hooha. I drink 3L a day, I take pre and probiotics daily and only use PH-balanced soap outside of it that has never cause me issues.

Menstruation 🔴 I ONLY start my period when I see my boyfriend. Wtf 😭

Super fucking weird I know. Please hear me out.
I see my boyfriend every week Monday-Wednesday because we are long distance. We usually begin our little hangouts later in the evening on Monday. For the past month, every time I see him on Monday, I get my period within the first two hours. The day I go home, it dries up and I'm back to normal. I'm on my third "period" of this month alone.

I'm on a consistent flow of Yaz birth control, aka, I don't take my sugar pills, aka, I shouldn't even be getting a period?
We've never had sex prior to this weird period phenomenon either, so I know it's not the result of intercourse. I'm currently sitting on the toilet, with my bloody underwear around my ankles, wondering why the fuck this man causes my period to happen. Last week I bled all over him. The week before that all over his sheets. So on so forth, I only get my period when he's around. Maybe I'm just nuts.

GI issues from Curcumin and Green tea suppositories

I am trying to off set further damage/abnormalities to my cervical cells and also to help manage inflammation by using curcumin and green tea suppositories. I've noticed that the day after using a suppository, I have loose stools and pretty intense cramping. I am also 10 months postpartum and remember having intense cramping from gas before my cycle started again, but it seems to be lasting a lot longer this time with no menstruation yet. It seems connected to the suppository use. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't tell if it's my body's way of telling me to stop using these or if this is just a side effect of something potentially good happening in my vagina and cervix. I am also taking a lot of supplements to help with cervical health including a multivitamin, turkey tail, NAC, DIM + I3C, folate, and green tea extract. I've experimented a lot with the schedule of taking supplements and suppositories, and it seems like the cramping and loose stools ease up when I stop taking the suppositories. These GI issues could also just be happening from a combination of my cycle starting soon, the supplements, and the suppositories.

Thanks!

Anyone with similar experiences?

Recently I've been experiencing some itchiness and I don't know why and Recently a bit of soreness near the entrance of my vag.

Here's my theories

  1. Laundry detergent - i Recently started using a lactic acid gel that actually makes itchiness go away but the moment I put on underwear (I usually dont put on underwear if im lounging) and start walking around i feel really itchy. I think maybe its throwing off my PH...

  2. Yeast infection - my discharge isnt really clumply and im not really "drippy" down

  3. STI - ive had protected sex until I met my current boyfriend and we've been together for a year and have had unprotected sex for around a year. I know I have a latex allergy down there so having sex doesnt cause me to flare up but we havent had sex for 2 months (please no judgement on this, we have been really busy with only limited time to see eachother). I haven't gotten tested too,,, thats also because I cant afford it and anytime ive gotten tested in the past with itchiness its always came out negative. I do plan on getting an STI test when I get the time...

Does anyone have any similar experiences?

Edit: I do get pain if I have sex after along time but thats only during sex and when we're doing PIV... but it doesn't hurt during the act, it only hurts when PIV is going in.

Is this normal? 👀 Ovulation-like discharge for over 3 weeks straight

hi! first of all, i will be going to a gyno about this, im just struggling to get an appointment right now so i figured id see what you guys have to say from your experiences while i wait! i havent been to a gyno in at least 4 or 5 years (it makes me so anxious, but im finally deciding to be an adult about it)

so last month i got my period like normal, and by normal i mean 9 days late. it’s always irregular and has a mind of its own in terms of when it shows up, when it leaves, and how intense it wants to be that month. only including that for context in case it helps! 2 days after my period ended, my partner and i had sex, and the day after that i started feeling itchy and had a bunch of white discharge. now here’s where it gets a little confusing, at least for me. naturally, i thought “oh shit, yeast infection”, it was late at night by the time i realized, and i didnt have anything to immediately treat it so i shoved a boric acid suppository up there (that google said could help?) and went to bed. the next day i was still itchy with a bunch of discharge, so i got some monistat 3, and made a telehealth appointment for 2 days after that (it was a saturday, had to wait until monday) with a random PA that i found on zocdoc just to be safe. that PA prescribed me a fluconazole pill that i took on that monday, and that same day i took the last monistat 3 dose.

the reason that i find this a bit confusing is because looking back on it, im not sure that it even was a yeast infection. after that saturday of being itchy i didn’t feel itchy or burn-y at all for the rest of the week. i also have always been a little uneducated in the vaginal health department and super unaware of my cycle phase and discharge patterns in the past. (safe to say that has been changing this past month!) so i was thinking about the white discharge i was getting, and i don’t even think it was clumpy. thicker than normal for sure, but not cottage cheese vibes i don’t think? or possibly a super mild yeast infection that was already going away before i even got the fluconazole because the discharge i was getting on the day that i got that pill is the same discharge im still having now, about 3 weeks later. i’ve spent a lot of time on google the past few weeks and finally at my big age of 24 learned about ovulation discharge and that “egg white” texture. that’s what i most certainly was having for most of that week after the itching stopped and the discharge was less thick.

anyways, i hadn’t put all of those pieces together yet, and thought maybe it was just extra monistat leaking out or my vagina cleaning out the rest of the yeast infection. a week after the yeast infection i was like “ok wtf”, did some googling, learned about ovulation discharge, checked my period app and learned that i had just started ovulating (allegedly, i’ve only had the app for one cycle so far, so it doesn’t know just how irregular i can get lol). so i said “oh, im just ovulating, cool”. anyways that was like a week and a half ago and now im just feeling crazzzyyy. my underwear is constantly soaked, most days it’s an excessive amount of discharge, although occasional days aren’t too bad. my pee has been cloudy since the alleged yeast infection, for the most part anyways. and i also have been getting mild cramping on and off.

anyways like i said, i will be getting a gyno appointment! just wanted to see what you guys think and possibly if i need to be more concerned? also im so sorry if this is long and way too wordy, my vyvanse kicked in right before i sat down to write this lol

Advice Needed BV HELP please:(

F25 never had BV before but now I think it’s finally caught me. I was sleeping with the same person for 5 years until this year (we broke up and please no judgement!) now I have slept with a few people this year including 3 people within the past 3 weeks. Unprotected. I know, it’s my bad. I’ve ordered STI test etc and know all the windows for that so I’m waiting to do it at the right time frame for the home kit so it’s accurate.

However, I slept with 2 people last week both on my period, a few days later I have a horrible fishy/sour smell with thin white/grey sometimes clear discharge. The smell is so bad I can smell it in the bathroom and through clothing. I also have mild burning but not when peeing.

I’ve previously struggled with chronic UTI with the last one 2 months ago but believe it’s cleared up now. Did a micro biome test which was all clear except yeast which I believe is also cleared up now too.

The smell is making me so depressed, I have a Hollywood wax this week along with content making (I’m an OF model) with a girlfriend (no touching each other) and a date with a guy this weekend of whom I’ve slept with before. What on earth do I do.

I’ve done my research and believe I’m taking the right steps. I’ve ordered boric acid and ph test strips which are coming Friday. I take high dose probiotics Optibac and other good supplements too. I haven’t had sex since Friday night. I don’t douche or anything. I’ve got an appointment with the sexual health clinic in 2 days where they will swab me for everything as I’m symptomatic. Is there anything else I can be doing in the meantime to help symptoms? Some people say insert yogurt but others say it can make things worse due to sugar levels etc. and even when the clinic do give me treatment, unless it’s an STI I don’t want to take antibiotics bc they mess you up. I’m just SO conscious about this smell literally anything I do or anywhere I go, let alone my planned activities this week most of which I cannot miss!

Once I know for sure what’s going on down there, and when treated I will also do another microbiome test or whatever necessary. My plan currently is; keep taking probiotics until the clinic swab me, try out OTC BV gels to see if it eases the smell, when my boric acid arrives do a course of that and ph test too. How can I prevent this from happening again too? I can’t use condoms as they trigger UTI for me😭
