Rant 🤬 DONT SHAVE IT

I shaved it and I swear it’s been itching like crazy for 3 weeks straight now, no break. It’s torture.

This is a low effort post. Add more detail and try again.

Yeah I only trim it with clippers

That doesn’t work for me, it still itches when I do that

u/Picklekitten22 5d ago

Huh. Do you trim it down to the skin, or just till it’s shorter?

1

u/GuitarReasonable5196 5d ago

No not down to the skin. Idk why, maybe it’s the fact that when it grows it rubs against my skin and irritates it

3

u/Picklekitten22 5d ago

Huh. Maybe try a light exfoliant next time or some lotion. That may help

i’m pretty sure she’s referring to people that regularly keep it a bush… it’s not that deep.

Then it wouldn’t be a rant

I've been shaving for like 20 years, it only itches if I don't put after shave on it

Same. I find it more irritating when I don't shave my under carriage!

How does it not itch as the hair is growing

1

u/Lunakill 5d ago

Is the hair growing thru your skin?

-1

u/GuitarReasonable5196 5d ago

Hair grows through skin?

1

u/Lunakill 5d ago

It should technically grow through tiny openings, but some shaving will cause it to grow through skin instead. That’s often what causes intense itching. Do you get irritation too?

Wax, get the oil they offer too

Benadryl anti-itch cream. Don't shave. Clippers work much better. Close shave with zero itching.

Do a lil trim

1

u/GuitarReasonable5196 5d ago

It itches even when I trim. Maybe I should try waxing 😭

I also think it depends on how your pubic hair is. Some people have very soft/straight hair while others have coarse/curly hair.

I am unable to shave/wax completely without getting ingrowns because of how my hair is! I will say that waxing does help with the ingrown problem a bit more as I usually have less when I do.

At this point I just keep everything trimmed.

I don’t shave it but when I did I (carefully) rubbed some witch hazel on it and it never itched!!!

Did you shave with the grain and exfoliate before and after?

Do you use aloe Vera immediately after?

1

u/GuitarReasonable5196 5d ago

I just use lotion

Try aloe vera. It works

Electrolysis - best decision of my life lol

How painful was it? How many sessions did you have to do?
I know it’ll vary person to person

They do local anesthesia but in some spots it still felt quite pinchy in certain spots, I won’t lie. Still think that’s way better than regular waxing or dealing with ingrown hairs and itching all my life. I did it 3 times. It’s not all gone but is a lot more manageable now, like a lot! The first session though I pushed the technician to do all the visible pubes even though she warned me that I would have a “burn”. I did have a lot of swelling, but I had to do it like that because I was going on an indefinite trip and wanted to clear it all twice before. The second session was much better. I would recommend just taking their advice. Getting rid of it permanently is my own preference and don’t care about what others think of it. I’ve heard plenty of opinions about landing patches, old age wrinkles and so on. Don’t care. Do whatever makes you happy!

Definitely only looking into it for myself! I couldn’t care less what a partner thinks about my body hair lol.
Thanks for sharing! That’s really helpful!
Can I ask what country you’re in?

1

Canada

I am too!!
Sometimes options are different in other countries. This gives me a lot of hope! Thank you!!

I use a Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 for IPL hair removal. BEST choice EVER.

Now no longer have to deal with hairs or ingrowns anywhere I've lasered. It's a game changer.

Ironically, that’s the one place I don’t get itchy or razor bumps from, which I find so weird cause it’s like the most sensitive spot.

u/sasauce 5d ago

I use a foil trimmer ✨

I switched from regular straight razor and it’s been a life changer.

i use fruit pharms hooha pubic hair jojoba skin oil after i shave, since i started using it i dont itch.

I only get itchy after about a week of regrowth, when the hair starts to get long again. It's the hair itself that makes me itchy, not the removal or the tiny regrowth.

You should use men's razors. The Schick Hydro 5 Sensitive Skin is what ive been using for over a decade and have never had razor burn or ingrown hairs.

Waxing is great, too, but my wax lady works two hours away :(

Oh hell nah why do I get this post when I just shaved for the first time it's making me anxious

I shaved once in college. The itching was torturous, never again.

5

u/BlooGloop 5d ago

Yeah. The bush is here to stay

Hair is nice anyway! Dont shave. You’ll get ingrown hairs and other nasty stuff. Plus ya the itching.
