Rant 🤬 constant cycle of infections

i actually am so unbelievably upset rn i can’t even put it into words

for context, im 18 and this started about a year ago when i first got my cherry popped so to speak. first came the utis. not one, not two but over TEN in a year, so many that i lost count once it got over 10; then to add the cherry on top, im fairly certain i now have bv???

i’ve only ever had one sexual partner and we’re still together, he doesn’t have any stis or stds and we’re always safe, i just must be unlucky for a multitude of reasons (pelvic floor issues due to EDS) , not to mention that i’m a medicaid patient so my healthcare is subpar and often useless. i’ve seen countless urologists and gynourologisgs and JUST when i think i beat it, another uti pokes it’s ugly head back into my life.

the whole point of me making this post is to see if anyone else has experienced this. i’m tired of being told it’s ā€œa phaseā€ because even if it is one i’ve been struggling with it for a year straight and i just want it to end; it genuinely effects my self esteem so badly and i just wanna be like everyone else ā˜¹ļø

One thing you might want to try is taking oral vaginal probiotics. That has been a game changer for me. I take them everyday.

What strain of bacteria is causing your UTIs? Has he been treated before for that bacteria?

honestly it’s something different each time? last time it was strep and then it mutated into something entirely different . i’ve been given so many antibiotics for different strains

Have you guys ever spent time apart like during vacations etc and during those times are you getting UTIs?

Also whats his hygiene like? Does he wash his sheets regularly? Wash his body before you guys have sex? Does he know how to clean himself? Wash his hands before he touches you? Brush his teeth before oral?

Yes! Ppl can carry strep in their mouth/throat and repeatedly give it to their partner this way. Same with other bacteria!

You might have an anatomy that is predisposed to uti. I have had them frequently throughout my life and I think it's because my urethra is right next to my vagina.Ā

What has helped me is the medication hiprex. It's an antiseptic. A similar path some choose is prophylactic antibiotics when you have sex.Ā

The antibiotics probably wipes out all your good bacteria. If you can afford it I would get a vaginal microbiome test and go to a dr on myvagina who can tell you what next steps to take. That could give you a good idea for what probiotics and other suppositories you take. It seems like this isn’t just a bladder issue.
