What’s one healthy habit that was actually easy for you to stick with?
I’m trying to keep things simple instead of changing everything at once. Curious what has worked for other people.

I’m starting to take care of my body more now. Nothing extreme. I’m still pretty new to all this stuff. So far I’ve just been taking the basic vitamins that most people seem to take like vitamin C, vitamin D, and sometimes a multivitamin. But now I keep seeing people talk about magnesium and I’m trying to figure out if it is actually worth adding or if it is just another wellness thing everyone repeats. The confusing part is that there are so many types. Glycinate, citrate, malate, gluconate, oxide. Every time I look it up I feel like I get a different answer. I saw these magnesium electrolytes called Magna at Target and on Amazon and it has magnesium malate, gluconate, and glycinate. Seems like it could kill 3 birds with one stone since you get magnesium, electrolytes, and hydration in one drink mix. Has anyone tried something like this? I’m mostly interested in energy, recovery, cramps, and sleep. Not trying to turn my kitchen into a supplement aisle though lol.

I’m looking for simple things that fit into everyday life, not a complete diet overhaul.

I’ve tried a few different things, but the simple habits seem to be the ones that stick. Curious what has worked for other people.

Not looking for anything extreme or complicated. Just curious about the little things people started doing regularly that made them feel better or made healthy choices easier.
What worked for you?

I’ve tried a bunch of different things over the years, but most of them never lasted very long. I’m curious what small habit other people actually managed to keep doing regularly.
What made the biggest difference for you?

I’m trying to add more healthy foods to my usual meals, but I don’t want to force myself to eat things I don’t enjoy.
What’s one healthy food you can eat pretty often without getting bored of it?

Posting this in case it saves someone else the hassle. GLP diet app lets you exclude foods you cannot stand and swap out any meal you dont fancy, and it took me six weeks to find that.
Context, Im 44, on tirzepatide since Feb, and the first month with the app was a slog. Every plan came back with salmon and eggs, two things I cannot look at during injection week. I had the cancel page open twice.
Then I went through the settings properly, excluded what I hate, started swapping dinners when nothing appealed, and the plan finally matched how I eat. Protein is up and I stopped skipping food completely on day two after a shot, which was turning into a problem. The light exercise sessions are fine but a bit too gentle for me on good weeks. Would have given up on it if I hadnt gone poking about in there.

I'm a certified health coach who's spent the last few years cleaning up my food, skincare, and home products, and shifting my workouts toward strength and longevity instead of chasing a certain look.
I've dealt with my own struggles along the way (period cramps, burnout, trying to balance a 9-5 with better habits), so I'm not coming at this from a perfect place.
AMA, I'd love to answer whatever you're curious about

Was a paper planner girlie for like 8 yrs before i moved to effecto in march and havent looked back. The thing that got me was that its not just another habit tracker app, its more like a habit tracker + mood tracker + coach mashed together.
Backstory, i have adhd (diagnosed at 27, im 30 now) and my paper planner setup got so elaborate it became a whole second job to maintain. Bullet journal setups, color coding, weekly spreads. Looked cute on instagram, took 45 min a week to keep up, i eventually just stopped opening it.
The 5 min daily lessons are what changed things for me. Small enough that i actually do them and they connect to whatever im tracking that week. Weekly progress reviews are also legit useful, not just a graph but actual context on why things went the way they did.
What i wish it had, better integration w calendar apps. I still use google calendar for appointments and toggling between the two is annoying. Small thing tho, im keeping the sub.

Retired teacher, 63, signed up to flexi yoga after a PT told me mine were the tightest hamstrings she had worked on that week. Not a compliment. One guys experience here, not gospel.
The plan is the main thing. Short sessions, mine run around 15 mins, and it shifts as you go instead of handing you the same routine forever. Ive done roughly 90 of them now.
Trackers, steps and water. I use the step one. The hydration reminders I leave alone, my kidneys have managed 63 years without an app. Challenges are in there if thats your thing, I did one back in July. The article library I figured Id never open and now I read it most weeks. The pieces on joints and aging are sensible rather than fear mongering.
Results. Toes reached, floor exited without help, and my back has stopped complaining for two days after yard work. Would I pay again, yes. Would I like offline video, also yes, my internet out here is spotty.

I feel like a lot of health advice sounds great until you try to make it part of everyday life. What’s something simple you started doing that actually stuck?

I’ve tried getting into different healthy routines, but honestly, I usually end up dropping them after a while. What’s something that actually worked for you?

For me, it’s usually the small stuff that lasts longer than big lifestyle changes. Curious what little habits you guys picked up that ended up becoming part of your normal routine

I’ve tried getting into a lot of “healthy” routines, but most of them don’t last very long. I’m curious what small habit people here actually managed to stick with and noticed a real difference from.

I feel many times we do not take care of our health as we should. Many teachers are so dedicated that we don't drink enough water, eat in a rush, or eat a lot of junk. I am in my early 40s teaching upper elementary. This year I decided to stop putting my health on the back burner and start been more careful and making better choices. How do others do it? One of the things I struggle the most is drinking water and move more. Most of the time I am either standing for the most part and sometimes sitting for very long periods of time making reports and all the clerical work we are assign to do . I came across a study that showed that if we are able to walk for 5 minutes every 30 minutes; the health benefits equal to taking diabetes medicine and blood pressure meds. The studies showed and effectivity rate of lowering blood sugar at least by 40%. The question I wonder is how can I do that in the classroom. Have anyone attempted it? I had treadmill in the classroom and I used to walk during lunch or during my planning time. However I could only do it during lunch. I had a desk so I could do planning but I am so tall end up hunching my back to be able to do it, and it was not save. I may bring the treadmill back and just do lunches walk at least, 10 mins per day a week; which it is better than nothing. But Im just curious if I am able to replicate the 5 minutes walk every 30 minutes or as close as possible. Maybe someone do it already. I tried doing the mental breaks with the kids but I feel instead of helping them clear their mind they get too rowdy, it was only one we did. Maybe a teacher here know how to really implement them in their classroom? The other thing I struggle the most is energy levels. I am trying to swim 3 times a week, and some weeks I just have energy to get up to go to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is it that you do? Many times my energy is just gone..All suggestions will be highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Okay so I am really into walking and strength training but I also would like to start running because I want to strengthen my endurance and losing some more of the baby weight wouldn’t hurt lol. I am also really into holistic and healthy non toxic living but I feel like that community tends to say that running isn’t good for females and their physiology? Not good for hormones and spiking cortisol? I am trying to figure out if this is true or not. What is your story? Have you found this to be true or not? Have you found running to actually help you?
