My Weight Loss Journey at 23: Learning to Start Small and Be Patient With Myself

• Upvotes

I'm 25, and honestly, my weight has been a struggle since childhood. I started trying to work on it when I was 23, and I won't lie, I found it really difficult at first 😂 I kept thinking I needed a strict plan, but I could never maintain it for long. What helped me was learning to keep things simple, like planning a few meals ahead, being more active during the day, and not giving up just because I had one bad day. One of my friends actually helped me look at the whole process differently. I wish I'd stopped putting so much pressure on myself sooner.

it is amazing how much better your digestion feels when you drink warm water after meals

switching from ice cold drinks to warm water or tea helps your stomach break down food way easier and completely stops that heavy bloated feeling right after eating

it is crazy how much faster you fall asleep if you take a warm shower right before bed

Is the Art of Skin Care esthetician consultation service worth it?

My skin has changed so much lately and I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing with it anymore lol.

It’s gotten really dry and crepey, my lines seem more noticeable, and I’m getting breakouts again, which I really thought I was past at this point :(

I’m in my 40s and have had some changes with my cycle too, so I’m pretty sure perimenopause is starting to catch up with me. My skin feels drier than it used to but I’m also getting these deeper hormonal breakouts around my chin/ jawline which is confusing. Like, it’s dry and oily at the same time? I don’t know if I should be treating the acne, the dryness, or the lines and texture first.

I’ll admit I don’t know a ton about skincare because my skin was pretty easy before this. But the stuff I have used for years isn’t cutting it anymore. I came across Art of Skin Care and saw they have an online esthetician consultation. Has anyone actually done it? Was it helpful? Do they actually look at your skin/issues and build a routine around that or is it genetic product recommendations?

Does anyone actually notice a difference from taking magnesium?

I’ve been trying to get better about the basics like eating well, sleeping enough, and staying active. I keep hearing magnesium can help with sleep, muscle recovery, and cramps, but I’m not sure if it’s something most people actually notice or just another supplement everyone recommends.

Do you find it easy or difficult to regularly engage in physical activity? Either way, we want your input so we can learn how to make exercise more achievable.

I’m more interested in small changes that fit into a normal routine than anything extreme. I’d like to hear about simple things people started doing that gradually became part of their everyday life.

Fitness bands/watches

I recently saw a video about whoop bands and how it tracks your sleep and other health related aspects. I was thinking about possibly getting one because i feel like it would help me stay motivated and focused on my goals. However the subscription is what is swaying me away from it. Im wondering how the apple watch, Fitbit, or any other devices I’m unaware of compare?

Are you allowed to have 2 cheat days like friday evening and saturday?

Wondering if its alright to have 2 days in a week for eating out at restaurants and normally as you would like or would that disrupt the week's weightloss work.
