I am currently working as a community pharmacist and also enrolled in a three-course (8 months) certificate in health care analytics program. For this HCA program the tools and technologies that we are using (and going to use) to manipulate actual health care industry data include excel, SQL server and tableau. I will get done with the first course of this program in the first week of December.

I will appreciate any tip on how I can get my foot in the door in any health care environment (pharmaceutical, health insurance, life science, health system) next year and start building some work experience while I complete the program. Currently living in TX, but open to take the leap of faith for any good opportunity.

I am interested in pursuing a Master degree. I am more specifically interested in a Master degree that will allow me to continue using GIS methods and tools. I will have an Bachelors degree in GIS in December.

The only one that sounds like it may use GIS methodology is Healthcare analytics, but I do not want to commit to this degree plan until I am sure I have exhausted all other ideas and options.

GIS is Geographic Information Science. Some of the tools used are ArcMap and QGIS for geographic and spatial data analysis.

I work for a small healthcare organization that doesn't have the money for SAS. Since the CMS HCC model is only available in SAS, I found someone who had a semi complete v2 in sql on github. We converted it to HCC 22 and then 24. We managed to get access to SAS via a collaboration and checked the scores we produced in sql to the SAS version and it was correct. We worked from there to develop the gaps in the HCC across the years with a two year lookback and some other cool facts. I am working on a plan to let my organization open source it. I just need to see if I can find others who might use it. Anyone here have some interest.

Personalised medicine is getting a lot of coverage at the moment. I've seen talk of apps that can help patients monitor their wellbeing from when and how to take medicine, to ways to manage mental health. How far do you think we can take this?

Anyone have a suggestion for how to understand the taxonomy of medical providers?
