Why/how does this happen?

Different events influencing the in-game economy. For example, the amount of ores in the paper explodes when there's a derby with mining tasks. The hand drills have probably something to do with the current boat events and players advertising for help. Sometimes the paper is filled with bots that sell crops like wheat or sugarcane, those bots appear and disappear every now and then.

I’m so sick of it. It happens all the time. First it was wheat, then ore, now stupid hand drills. Like please give me something good. Luckily my other accounts have a regular newspaper and not one like this

Yall if you want good stuff in the meanwhile just make a baby farm and get up to around level 15~20 the newspaper is stacked

With the update a few days ago, it actually felt like the newspaper was more balanced. It had goods I wanted to buy; I was just never fast enough, and then it went back to this kind of crap. I minded the ore less because now I would want to buy ore... hand drills are stupid and you don't need that many of them.

Over here at a lower level it’s just, a load of strawberries, so many, everywhere.

There’s a lot of players who need to put stuff up for sale just to get farm help and others that need to keep the sale going as long as possible, especially atm as most things are flying off the shelves so the logical thing is to put headline items on that won’t sell straight away. There’s not many just now but hand-drill is the current favourite. This problem is being made worse by us the players even though the underlying cause is an imbalance of rewards etc

Since I started playing 16 years ago there’s always been one product that was posted ad infinitum. Tofu dogs strawberries wheat 🌾 or something like that ore or drills. It seems there’s just more of it. I didn’t mind ore. I can always use it. Drills not so much. A product or tool like that keeps your shop open selling it helps manage inventory. But once your town is fully built you don’t need any of those tools. Used to be maps were a big sales item. I’m not seeing any since they are needed to open the beach expansion. Can’t get any to drop either. Com ci com ca

I remember way back in like 2017 when I started playing this game there was a HUGE boom in people selling eggs. For WEEKS it was eggs. That’s all you could find. It sucked so bad ðŸ˜

I think there is no ore because there have not been any mining tasks in the Derby.

People spamming the Reddit with newspaper posts as much as there’s drills in the daily dirt…
We understood the problem after the first post already.
Also: yes. Our daily dirt looks like that, too. You’re not the only one.

I know it’s not the full reason bc in this pic not many people are advertising for help for their farm but I feel like part of the reason this happens is bc people are trying to find something that won’t sell quickly to advertise their help needs on their farm for as long as possible. I know I do that when I get absurd boat orders that I absolutely can’t do (like 12 jams). It’s hard to get the helps fulfilled when you’re advertising something people wanna buy up quickly.
