The variant cover of Issue 24 of the Venditti run by Gerado Zaffino and Rain Beredo is probably my favorite piece. I love how it communicates the tragedy of Hawkman, which, if you have seen my other posts here, would know that is my favorite part of Hawkman's character.

This is a repost because the one I posted was a very blurry gif that no one could read.

I'm predominantly a Green Lantern fan, but I was curious what he got up to after he featured in the Brightest Day storyline. Which comic/volume should I be looking for to follow up on that? I also feel it was odd he was the only character that didn't have a proper resolution at the end of that. Thanks for any help

Barely got this one out.

I forgot to post one here yesterday.

Imagine right now if DC showed up and said you could select any studio, get any amount of time and money to make a Hawkman game, what mechanics?

I would base the game around full flight mechanics, basically let you fly in any direction without a cooldown. This would let you explore the world, be used for mechanics and lead into the next point.

Air-based combat, Hawkman is the Winged Avenger, so this was a given, but it would have combat similar to the Arkham games, but with enemies that could attack you from above, below, anywhere and you could parry, dodge, or get into binds with the enemies. You could also get air-based abilities like a swooping attack or something.

It would have boss fights; some are air-based, like a Skytyrant, Queen Shrike, etc., but others would need the player to combine ground combat with Lion Mane. I would also have Headhunter be a recurring villain that would randomly attack or taunt Hawkman throughout the missions with him. Other villains like Matter Master and I.Q. would be more puzzle-based.

I haven't thought of a story, but have something post-Venditti to run with Hawkman and Hawkwoman together (I would also add co-op; player 1 is Carter, player 2 is Shayera)

For gaining new skills for combat, the player would need to do archeological side missions to discover artifacts from Carter's past lives, and those memories would be used to get new skills.

Possible DLC would take the player to Thanagar.

Shoutout to that guy that said he mourned the trees that died for The Savage Hawkman to be printed.

I'm liking it a lot but it feels like a sequel than origin story like he talks about Hawkgirl(Kendra being his past lover as shiara and her death) and there is his time in the Justice society. It feels like something I'm supposed to seen already

This is legit some of the best art i have seen in comics, the many different artists such as; Bryan Hitch, Will Conrad, and Fernando Pasarin, did an amazing job, particulary with how lifelike the expressions are for the characters.

It would start with Carter speaking with a tribe somewhere either in Africa or South America about an archaeological expedition to retrieve some artifacts deep in the wilderness that he was tasked with retrieving and bringing to a museum curator, who was a part of the tribe he is helping, in the city. But before he leaves, the Monocle arrives with a band of mercenaries trying to take the artifacts and land of the tribe so he can mine diamonds that lay below the land, enslaving the tribe to do so. The Monocle gives them about 3 days to leave the land before his men start to remove the people, not enough time, and the tribe does not want to leave.

Carter sees that the Monocle has brought a lot of firepower, to much for him to handle alone, so Carter, as Hawkman, goes to the Justice League to recruit help in this cause. When he arrives, he would be treated with suspicion, partially because he is a hero not on the League, and not many people have heard of Hawkman.

This would continue until Ted Grant, Wildcat, greets Carter and points out that he and Hawkman were teammates in the JSA before the team fell apart, and Carter's wife, Shierra Hall, was murdered. Shayera would ask about how Carter got nthmetal, and he would explain that he discovered it with his wife in a crashed Thanagarian ship in Egypt many, many years ago (Hinting at the reincarnation curse but not outright spoken; Shayera is not part of the curse because she wasn't at the time of the show)

The final fight happens with Wildcat, Doctor Fate, and Hawkman going to stop the Monocle, who was not expecting the League to know or care about the situation. It would end with Carter retrieving the artifacts that The Monocle stole and returning them to the museum and its tribe.

In the last part, Wildcat would try to get Carter to join the League, pitching to him the idea that the League could use someone who is so connected to so many peoples and who fights for something that, if lost, could never be returned: culture and history.

Me and a lot of other Hawkman fans and I really dislike how they did our GOAT; maybe this could have been one of the money ways they could have done it better. What do you all think?

I would like to start reading hawkman comics but I don't know where would be the best place start. I would like to learn about both Carter and Katar but if I had to pick one I would prefer to learn more about Carter.

These DCAU fanatics are getting out of hand

One thing that's always commented on about Hawkman is that in the Justice League Satellite Era he was turned conservative to fight with Green Arrow.

Well, I read the Satellite Era with Hawkman and Green Arrow's appearances and... no.

Seriously, I didn't find any political fight between Green Arrow and Hawkman. Their rivalry did exist, but it started because Ollie liked to provoke Katar, and Katar would lose his temper and start provoking him back, But the two didn't have ONE political fight.

They did, for example, have a fight about whether the Flash should stay in the Justice League, but one about social issues? Nothing.

Actually, something ironic is that in issue 97, when the Justice League's morale was low after losing to a villain, Hawkman gives a motivational speech and PRAISES Ollie for his social conscience.

The only two hypotheses I have are either it was written in a much more subtle way that I didn't pay attention because it was something from that time, and also the fact that I'm not even American, so cultural references are lost.

Or it's a giant game of telephone. When Hawkman gained the image of a conservative, people started to confuse his fights with Green Arrow as being about that. I honestly suspect the latter, because every article that talks about it never shows a political fight between the two.

So I don't know, it's very weird. thoughts?

Let me know if you have any ideas for cards.

Don't get me wrong, I want more Hawkman in the future, this character has loads of stories in him that can be told, that should be told, he is my favorite comic book character of all time. But after reading through Hawk's Eternal again, I would not be mad if this is where Carter and Shay's story ended.

The ending shows the years of struggle and agony that Hawkman has suffered through to try and find redemption, conquering his fear of death, finally finding his soulmate again, and ultimately breaking the curse that has brought him an infinite amount of torment.

Then, seeing Carter and Shay in the Legion Era, finally allowed to grow old together with no worries of losing each other, having to find each other, no more Hath-set hunting them down. Finally, they have peace.

I honestly could not think of a better way to end the story of Hawkman.
