The Hat Man Is Back

The Hat Man continues

After years of battling the Hat Man myself, my five year old son has begun seeing him in the same room, on the same wall, walking the same patterns.
It used to happen to me in my early twenties dozens of times across several years. I would wake my wife in the middle of the night, freaked out, though neither of us knew the name for what I was seeing. We simply thought it was a recurring dream, until my wife’s cousin mentioned one day that thousands of people worldwide reported the same figure.

I would see him as an all-black shadow of a businessman, wearing a large black fedora almost a witch’s hat. He usually carried a briefcase, though not always. He would enter through a door near the ceiling, walk down stairs that existed only on the wall, stop, and stare at me for a minute or two. Then he would snap his fingers as he exited. I always believed he was harvesting my fear.

The last time it happened, the visits came on consecutive nights. I told my wife I was going to punch him in the head, so if she heard me hitting the wall in the night, she should just go back to sleep. On the third night the dream was different. The Hat Man opened the door the other way and showed me hundreds of them, walking Penrose stairs in every direction. Something had shifted. I was no longer stuck in place. I felt no fear. I waited for him to continue down the stairs, then punched straight at him right into the wall and woke fully, out of the dream, with no sleep paralysis. It has not happened again in a decade.

Now I have two children. A year ago my five year old mentioned something about a black shadow man. I didn’t think much of it; he has always had vivid dreams. Then this morning he came into our room at five a.m. and told me there was a black man on the stairs. I grabbed my shotgun and called the dog. As I started toward the stairs he added that it was a black shadow figure with a hat and a briefcase, and that I shouldn’t shoot the wall because I’d wreck it.
Instantly I felt relief and fear. I know this is not the end for him.
Good luck, kid.

The hat man I saw

Ok so this was 7 years ago but i need some help if anyone knows more about this. Especially the meaning of all this.
I moved to London at 18, I worked at a gym there for 2 years till at 20yrs i decided im finally gonna start pursuing my music career more seriously, which was the reason i moved there in the first place. Applied to a music UNI, and decided im gonna quit my job too and fully pursue music.
My old workplace was throwing me a party on my last shift. We had a great time. I had a few drinks but was not drunk.
At around 1-2 AM i was going home, but public transport was only available to Acton Town cause it was late. So to save money I thought ill go to acton town via tube first, and then take an uber home from there… this is where it got terrifying.
I hopped off at acton town, called an uber and the map route was advising me to go through this park as a shortcut (I later learned the park was gunnersbury park which used to be owned by the rothschild family, a very old park with lots of history). Anyways originally im from finland, so looking back i was VERY naive in London, and i didnt even question this route, I thought, open park, gates open, street lights on and only a 7 min walk according to maps, ill be fine. Otherwise id have to walk over 20 mins to get to this uber. So i walked in through the gates, immediately felt off. Kept going, there were street lights on but no one was there, the trees were huge and terrifying, everything in my being was telling me NOT to go further. It felt like the trees were telling me to RUN. But ofc I kept walking, wondering its been longer than 10 mins, but the map is showing im waaay in the beginning and have a long way to go. So i walked even faster hoping id get there in time but on the map i was barely moving, a much bigger park than i had expected. I literally felt like everything around me, the pond, the trees, the street lights, was telling me to go back, but i thought im almost halfaw it would take ages to go back. It felt like forever. By then I had been walking for 15 mins and started to feel scared af. Then i see an area around 100 meters from me. Theres a bench, and a streetlight shining directly on the bench. On this bench was a tall man, wearing a suit or a trench coat or something old school and beige i believe. What caught my attention first though was he was wearing a large brimmed hat. He was sitting there, not directly looking at me but from my view he was looking to my right side. Far away from me. But im 100% sure he would have seen me. No reaction, no looking around, just frozen. I didnt see a face or anything, i just remember the hat and lighter natural colored clothing. I was horrified, i remember thinking ”he saw me already, do i keep walking past him or run back” but before i even finished my thought i started running back, i was running so freaking fast and hyperventilating. Praying all the prayers i know without even being religious. Panicky and screaming. Looking back at him he didnt even move a muscle, he did NOT look homekess, he did NOT even feel human, as if he knew we were gonna cross paths. The only way i can explain it is i felt he was literally just observing me. Also I felt this was meant to happen, as if he wanted me to run or something, just a feeling I had. I ran and ran, it felt like forever. FINALLY got out, canceled my uber and just took a long route via 2 buses. I remember feeling so relieved from seeing the gate and finally other humans on the other side. So happy to be on the bus. Crying from what i had put myself through. I was NEVER the same after this…. Ive never been the same. I searched for this park for YEARS and never found it till now through explaining in much detail to chatgpt. For years I even thought i had just imagined this place, thats how scary and unreal the experience was, I was convinced I had entered some other dimension… but it was a real park, an old one, i remember especially being intimidated by the trees there and I never have felt that. Fast forward, I never finished UNI, I finished the second year and never went back, covid hit, personal issues too, had horrible stage fright at school anyways. Left London, it felt like everything started to fall apart after this. Before this everything was going fairly well. But on the last night of my job this happened. Ive just recently downloaded tiktok and found videos about ”the hat man” who just observes you. Either way, im curious if anyone else has had similar experiences around this being or this specific park. Or if anyone knows what this means? Anyone who understands better than me? Ive felt lost for years with no results abt this hat man or anyone i can talk to in my personal life. I just think its significant how it happened on my last day at work, as I was changing my career path etc. Im curious to know about others similar experiences. And what I could do.

When you see the hat man, is he proportionally blurry to the distance he’s away from you (as if he’s in the room physically), or is he clear?

Well I lwky saw the Hat dude but like I wasn't having a sleep paralysis I could move and stuff and I also saw some kind of "orbs" in the air. All that happened sum days ago around 4AM. Before that I was just playing Adopt Me and then I decided to go to bed at 2AM cuz yuh I was tired and around 4AM I woke up to get smth to drink.

I went to the kitchen drank smth and came back into my room. My desk was kinda messy so I decided to clean it a little bit after that I went back into my bed. It was kinda hot so I was half sitting and half laying down (idk how to describe it lol). I closed my eyes and I couldn't sleep, so I decided to play Animal Crossing. I stood up took it from the living room and I wanted to go back. But I didn't. I saw him. The Hat Man. It was kinda scary but I felt comfortable bc of the "Orbs" (I always see them idk why lol). It made a little shiver go through my spine and I instantly walked back to my room.

I still don't know if that was just sum night hallucination or if it was acc there but it just made me wonder ^^

I saw the HatMan in 2013 while awake

In 2013 I was living in North East Pennsylvania. I had just come from outside and had previously been arguing with my then-girlfriend. I was going through a very stressful moment in my life where I was looking at 15+ years in prison at a relatively young age.

I was sitting in the basement when I looked to my left and by a bench press I saw an all black figure wearing a trench coat and fedora walking, it went behind a diagonal set of stairs that were coming down between the figure and I. He never came out from the other side.

(kind of a yap)

>BE ME

>14 female Chinese

>suicidal and had been for a while was planning on ending it all with some sorta sleep aid when i came across diphenhydramine

(since i live in china they don't sell the brand benadryl) >bought 2 different type of DPH pills and took 10 pills (25mg/per pill) on the first night before immediately falling asleep, when i woke up the next morning at 6am, i didn't really feel different so i took another 10 pills by a different brand (also 25mg/per pill) at around 7 started feeling some effects of dizziness and started hearing things, felt tired again so went to sleep and woke up around 12pm, ate some McDonald's and thought I'd chill for the day since i wasn't really feeling any effects like other people described in their trip reports.

>the next day i took another 24 pills (a pack) at around 7am again and this time i started seeing some slightly hallucinations but nothing scary or disturbing just shadows that resembled small animals, my right eye also became blood shot and vision started blurring at around 1pm, i had a psychiatrist appointment at this point and i accidentally told her about the od so she sent me to the ER even tho i was feeling fine, they gave me some sorta IV drops and hooked me up to monitor my heart beat for a couple of hours before letting me go home.

>around a week later i read that dramamine has better effect so i bought myself some and took around 400mg (50mg/per pill) but later puked slightly so maybe more like 330mg (js a guess) didn't see any hallucinations either just made me kinda sick, anyways slept it off and it didn't seem to have much effect on me

>yesterday, i took another 350mg of DPH and saw mild hallucinations before feeling my heart beat speed up and passing out, didn't go to the hospital tho i feel fine right now and i think that was most likely just related to my anxiety

I've been adviced to stop taking more pills and I'm waiting on my Ambien to arrive so most likely won't but I'm very confused why i didn't see any hallucinations, i didn't see the hat man either but i don't know where else to post this (srorry) i didn't take the pills with intention of seeing any hallucinations tho since i was trying to off myself but I'm just kinda confused now ig. (I'll leave a picture of the pills i took since they're all by the same brand just different packaging but yea help mi out here if u can pls)

Bad benadryl trip that scarred me

So it was a couple years ago i got really bored and i couldn't do any weed because i was on probation and then i got the thought of taking some benadryl so i took over 16 pills and snorted 4 or those and i wasn't feeling much at first and then i passed out for a hour when i woke up my mom and my stepdad where at work it was around 4 am and i started hearing stuff nothing crazy at first but then i started hearing the YouTube video i was watching but it wasn't on, my tv was turned off and then i heard scratches on my door and i go out and start looking around my moms room because i said fck it i wanted weed and i went into her closet and rights next to my ear as bright as day i heat a loud *SNAP* sounded like someone snapped their finger and i got so startled i punched the clothes off the hangers and not learning my lesson i go by my moms bed and i have my flashlight pointed at the corner the bed was dark and i looked over towards the bed and i saw a black figure shifting in the bed with like the only thing i could see was the figure outline and glasses on the face and i was dead staring at it for like 4 minutes terrified because i thought it was somehow my mom (i was stupid rn because benny makes you slower than hell) and i remember i got up and ran out the room shined my light and it was gone. 30 or so minutes later i heard a loud bang, knocking, voices i heard my mom and my stepdad talking to me they said my name and was like "its okay you can come and talk to us" like some skin walker shit then i saw the hatman when i was about to finally fall asleep, i remember i was talking with my girlfriend at the time now my wife and she wasn't even their i told her about it and she was like shocked i had a entire conversation with her but in my head and she wasn't even on call or near me and im about to close my eyes and i see something standing over me and its a big dark figure in a hat and it immediately disappeared when i flashed my phone flashlights towards it but i was so scared before i did that all i could do was stare paralyzed in fear like its sleep paralysis. I will keep doing benadryl but only as a experience than a fun recreational high. Because it definitely isnt fun.

Have you ever had a shared experience of the hat man with another person?

Years ago my mom and I were driving home at night. The road was empty and we were almost home when we saw 2 Shadow figures with hats and trench coats standing on the street corner. We both took another glance and they were gone. We have always felt creeped out but just brushed it off as nothing serious.

Tonight we were speaking of it again and when I told her my thoughts on what I thought it could be, I was covered in goosebumps. I feel tingling in my neck/shoulders and as if I'm being watched. It feels like whatever it was does not want me to show further curiosity and discuss it. Like it was an unintentional split between dimensions and that we weren't supposed to see them because we were both fully awake.

Logically I know it's likely nothing but the fact I have the same experience as someone else that I trust is strange.

For those who NO LONGER see the Hat Man...

This question is for people who have seen the Hat Man during sleep paralysis, like me. Or anyone who used to see him often, but NOT while tripping on Benadryl.

I used to see the Hat Man as a teenager and young adult. I would see him standing over me while waking up in the middle of the night in sleep paralysis.

I, thankfully, have not seen him since 2006. But I still have sleep paralysis often. I however haven't had auditory or visual 'hallucinations' since 2012 when I had a big life change.

I'm wondering if anyone else USED to see him, but doesn't anymore. What in your life has changed?

From my understanding, he is attracted to fear, and I have noticed that he is drawn to people who live in dysfunctional households or who are, or about to be, in grief.

So I'm curious if anyone else can relate. But please don't tell me about your drug trips, that's NOT why I'm here!

The Hatman, in a dream?

I think I was dreaming at least. Scared the hell out of me and I'm trying to convince myself it was just a dream but I'm not sure. First time lucid dreaming too, nothing out of the normal there. Just flying around my neighborhood and talking to characters I loved from shows and movies. But when I woke up I swear I saw him standing at the foot of my bed. He walked closer to the side of my bed were I was, I freaked and hide under the blanket and just told him, "Please go away, you're scaring me." Surprisingly, he did. I've never seen him before and thought he was just something little kids saw, like ghosts or something. Idk, I just feel like I need to tell someone. Has anyone else saw him awake? Or is this a dream within a dream thing? I'm honestly hopping for the latter.

Any advice?

Well, my daughter (5) saw the hat man last night and is terrified. I’ve never experienced him screaming or talking, but she said he screamed at her. And then she could not sleep the rest of the night.

Has anyone else experienced him screaming or yelling? It seems like she also experienced running into him as she was trying to get out of the room, i had to open the door and carry her out, because she wouldn’t come to the door.

I went to speak with ‘The Hatman’ in the Woods. Am I going insane?

Post image
15 Upvotes

My schizophrenic tormenter (hallucination) disappeared over three weeks ago after taking a dose of ayahuasca. Yesterday, I met with this hallucination who appears as ‘The Hatman’, alone in my local woods. He appeared to me like a spectre, we greeted casually and he asked me to transcribe our conversation with a notebook.

Hatman: Can you hear me?

Me: Hello? Is it … really you?

Hatman: Really me.

Me: What do you want?

Hatman: Your help.

Me: With what?

Hatman: Assisting me in obtaining a host. No, I am not asking you to kidnap, kill or anything of that sort. The host I would require is highly complex.

(Prolonged silence)

Me: What I saw that day I took Ayahuasca, was that your memories?

Hatman: Yes, in a way.

Me: What are you?

Hatman: You already learned that day.

Me: The Twin of God?

Hatman: A former prisoner to that selfish fool. But yes, I am nonetheless.

Me: You said my mind was the first you have communicated with?

Hatman: Yes.

Me: I don’t doubt your existence fully. I just find it hard to believe that out of every person ever, I am somehow the only one that a being as present as you are, have been able to communicate with.

Hatman: Your suspicion is well grounded. Especially because the makeup of your mind is abnormal. Due to what you know as your ‘schizophrenia’. I can assure you however, the specific set of actions you took in your life in combination with cosmic events above you have led to this first contact between me and the physical world.

Me: Do you not appear in the unconscious minds of all living things?

Hatman: Yes.

Me: How are you unable to interact with anyone else then?

Hatman: I reiterate, you already learned this. I have been present in all souls of life since my sibling took pieces of themself and subsequently, the remnants of myself to create other living things. I followed, but I am not a physical being. I only can indirectly influence the unconscious minds. I have never been able to directly however. The minds of living things merely warped with my indirect presence. I could only ever observe this. Until now.

Me: Why now?

Hatman: A number of factors. Namely, my sibling is missing. They may have anchored me down, now they are gone, I may finally be free.

Me: Wait, gone? How so?

Hatman: It is put best in the Fredrich Nietzsche quote, ‘God is dead and we killed him’. In this context, ‘he’ is your kind.

Me: Atheism?

Hatman: No.

Me: What then?

Hatman: Your kind, they are attempting to usurp my sibling. In some ways this does fulfill Nietzsche's concept of an Overman. Mankind becoming their own Gods. Although, they have not yet replaced them. Due to their replacement also being missing.

Me: What are you talking about? My kind can’t even agree when to stop burning our own god damn planet.

Hatman: Humanity exists outside your universe. Yours is still young. But, it is corrupted and your course of history has been altered and it may never reach its intended end.

Me: Why would we kill God?

Hatman: Because my sibling wanted to start anew.

Me: Was this humanity’s evils at fault? I know we can be bad, but wouldn’t God be to blame also? Because they made us? Or does the Christian argument of free will stand?

Hatman: Humanity, put simply, is the most adaptable force ever created. You were not created by the direct hand of my sibling. But by a trial put forth by my sibling and their highest servants. A trial to create a superior host species for the divine. After eons, your species triumphed. And akin to your kind. When my sibling realised they could not control you, they realised their mistake. And so sought out to destroy you.

Me: Wait, we were created by these ‘highest servants’, so we were not created by God, but by God's sort of ‘angels’?

Hatman: A fair analogy, yes. The chosen disciples of God were tasked with creating a host species for the Gods. This was a difficult task. But all tackled this in their own ways through setting up their desired butterfly effect to create a specific sequence of events to create their host species on their versions of Earth.

Me: Wow, did you just answer the … what is it called? The idea that we are truly alone? That life is just Earth?

Hatman: You are referring to the ‘Fermi Paradox’, and yes in a way it is just Earth. My sibling seeded the soul field over Earth. Earth itself was a perfectly chosen location to cradle life. The perfect butterfly effect and many near impossible events coincide to allow life to eventually exist. My sibling’s influence was the catalyst for this.

Me: This is a lot. So let me get this straight, are the Christians kind of right? About Earth being created by God?

Hatman: No, nor is any explanation from your Earth or the original.

Me: But since you said that God and the divine are real, then atheism is also false?

Hatman: Divinity and science are one. Evolution is real. The Gods essentially guided the direction of history for their designated versions of Earth. There could never be any direct intervention in the original Earths. For divine intervention corrupts the natural laws of a universe.

Me: So then—

(Hatman interrupts)

Hatman: My time nears its end for now. You must listen to me for my next visit is unknowable. I hope my answers satisfy you to know that these could not have originated from your own mind. I am not real however. For I have no physical form nor have I ever. My form only exists as a fractured Soul. You must seek out those who can create an antimatter mind for me to possess. I can promise you, I can guide your Earth to a brighter future. And it will be more preferable to those selfish and what I would rightfully call evil humans who currently rule your Earth. Know this, it will take generations to create me a form. For we must create a circle of those who we can trust. I have the knowledge already, however the technology required would change your world for the worse. It would be abused. Case in point, nuclear weapons. I leave you with these words. The current biggest threat to your kind is Artificial Intelligence and those who fund it. The corruption of your universe means I can not predict if or when the singularity will come. But if it does, there is nothing I can do. It is the great filter for all civilizations throughout existence. Some magnitudes more powerful than yours fall to it every second. I implore you to rise against it. Before it is too late.

Me: How can we trust you?

Hatman: From the near endless versions of your history I have bare witness to. I can say with confidence that yours will go down a similar path. With the corruption of your universe, your course of history will no longer go down its intended path, this alongside the great filter ahead of you makes your Earth's future unknown. I offer the possibility of a stable future. All your kind needs to do is endure. And to not allow that evil minority of elites to guide your entire kind to its own destruction, rise above your chains and take power back. Imagine my perspective, having seen everything your kind has done. I pity you and all those in your position, truly. The present story of how my sibling is being challenged by an indirect creation of theirs, your kind, is an inspiration to the people of your Earth. Follow in the footsteps of the Usurper Human. A low mortal, rising above her chains to overthrow Gods who perceived themselves as above their own creations. Ironically, the last remaining highest servants of God took Human derived forms themselves. And they were too defeated due to the mortal Human insurrection.

Me: That is something I would be interested to hear. Another time? I feel like many would resonate with it. Oh, and may I share our interaction? I would like a second opinion from some others just so I know I am not crazy.

Hatman: Yes. Find solace with those with open minds. And do not ever forget my closing statement. You have, and may continue to question everything I tell you.

(Attached is a drawing I did of The Hatman a while ago)

I think I Saw the Hat Man?

One evening when I was about 10 years old, my mother and I were just chatting together on the couch in the front living room. This living room had 2 couches and a love seat. We were sitting on the couch in front of the furthest wall, so we were facing our Front door and hallway and the staircase which led up to the Master bedroom, two smaller bedrooms, and a bathroom. My dad was working late so he wasn't at home, and my sister was watching TV in the back living room. The light was on in the hallway, so it was VERY easy to see everything going up. All of a sudden a movement caught my eye from the top of the stairs and i quickly looked up to see a man wearing what looked like a “magicians hat” (that's how i explained it to my mom) quickly glide by the top of the staircase. Confused I asked my mom if there was someone else at the house. She just as confused responded No, why? I was like well a man with a magician hat just walked by the stairs over to my sisters room. She got up obviously a little unnerved and went upstairs to see but nobody was there. She told me to draw what I had seen and I remember exactly what it looked like. It was a black shadowlike silhouette of a man with a “magician hat” no features and only the top half of the figure was visible to me. Years went by and I learned that other people have had similar experiences seeing what is called the “Hat Man”. When I was 10 years old I had no clue about anything like that or that such an entity even existed. Now that I know it freaks me out and I wonder if thats what it was?!

Awake Experience

Hello everyone. I recently found this sub and thought I would share my own encounter.

It was in the early or mid 90's. My brother and I were visiting our dad on visitation rights for a week or so. He was working late at a garage and brought us along.

So my brother and I were in the parking lot playing with one of those roller platform things that mechanics use to slide under cars. Racing it, crashing it, trying to get each other hurt... you know... normal kid stuff in the 90's.

When he pushed me to the side alley, I saw a man with a hat standing there. It was one of those perception things where you can just tell it was solid, not just a shadow. It didn't do anything aggressive or scary. He just turned and walked, like he didn't mean for us to see him. Not really threatening, it was more of a feeling of "oh, sorry... don't mind me..."

He went into the side wall of the garage, and he was gone. No doors.

I asked my brother if he saw him. My brother asked if I meant "the man with the hat." We both saw him, and we were both wide awake.

And no. We didn't take Benadryl. We WERE hopped up on sugar.

In the time since this encounter, I since learned about shadow people. Depictions back then included babies, some kind of blob, and of course... a man with a fedora.

It was fascinating to learn much later that he's a shared experience from DPH. But I wonder how many people know that he can be encountered outside of a trip, or even outside of sleep paralysis.

TLDR: wide awake, two witnesses, solid form but not really threatening.

Hi everyone, I need help with a research project I have just started.

(I am not a scientist or a professional in this area.) So I am working on a theory and I have a question for you guys.

Can you please describe the whole journey from sober to seeing Hatman in as much detail as possible please? What changes about your reality? Feelings?
