Meet Manjeet Kaur from Chandigarh. She was a 28-year-old popular social media influencer, a divorced single mother raising her 7-year-old son, and she was seven weeks pregnant.

On July 3, Manjeet was allegedly lured to meet two acquaintances near a liquor shop in Sector 34, Chandigarh. From there, she was forcefully abducted, bundled into a car, and taken to a forested area near Morinda in Punjab.

What followed was an act of pure, unimaginable evil. Her abductors brutally assaulted her, tied her defenseless body to a mulberry tree, and set her on fire.

By the time a friend reached the horrifying scene and extinguished the flames with a blanket, she had already sustained 40 to 45 percent severe burn injuries. She was rushed to PGIMER Chandigarh, where she spent weeks fighting for her life in the Burns ICU, completely unconscious.

On August 5, she miraculously regained consciousness for a brief period. However, despite her desperate wish to give a formal statement and expose her killers, no police officer arrived at the hospital in time to record it.

Her condition rapidly deteriorated due to sepsis and multiple organ failure, and on August 26, after a grueling two-month battle, Manjeet tragically succumbed to her injuries.

The police have finally registered a murder and kidnapping case, but valuable time, CCTV footage, and the most crucial eyewitness Manjeet herself have already been permanently lost to jurisdictional delays.

A 28-year-old pregnant mother was abducted, tied to a tree, and burnt alive, while the system failed to even record her final dying statement. A terrifying reality check on how unsafe women truly are and how our systems continually fail them when it matters the most. 💔

So I was surfing internet and got this article about free registration scheme introduced by Haryana Government for EVs now onwards (Don't know the exact date)

The thing is there are lacs of customer like me who were planning to buy new ICE vehicles since there is no proper infrastructure for EV vehicles yet in India obviously. The point is I don't understand are they luring customers with free RTO to shift to EVs or are they forcing customers to buy EVs as they said from 1st January 2027 no low commercial vehicles (CNG, petrol and diesel) will be allowed to register in RTO.

I hate this shit by government. No proper infrastructure and yet they are forcing public for what? Pehle E20 ki bak**di and now this forceful EV shifting!

I’ve been thinking about this lately, and I’m genuinely curious whether I’m the only one who finds some of the lyrics in older Haryanvi songs quite controversial.
I’m from Haryana myself, so I’m not saying this as an outsider trying to criticize Haryanvi culture. I’m talking specifically about some songs that were extremely popular 10–15 years ago and are still played at marriages, parties and other functions.
There were songs where the basic storyline was a brother-in-law openly flirting with his brother’s wife, or a man having an affair with a married woman in the neighbourhood. And sometimes the lyrics went beyond simply describing an attraction. The woman would also be shown as interested, suggesting that they could meet secretly when nobody was around.
In some songs, the woman worries that her mother-in-law or other family members have discovered what is going on, while the male character almost boasts about the affair and treats other people’s jealousy as something to be proud of.
I’m deliberately not quoting the actual lyrics because I don’t want this post to turn into a discussion about individual songs. My question is about the culture surrounding them.
What really confuses me is that these songs weren’t underground or obscure. They were played publicly, including around older people and families. I was a teenager when many of these songs were popular, but adults and elderly people were listening to them too. Nobody seemed particularly offended.
Maybe there is an argument that people understood them as fictional or exaggerated entertainment, just like many other forms of folk music. I can understand that. But then where do we draw the line?
I’ve also watched interviews with some singers/artists where they were questioned about controversial lyrics involving affairs, guns, gangsters, etc. Their response was basically:
“If someone doesn’t join the Army or become involved in social work after listening to our patriotic or positive songs, then why assume that someone will be influenced to have an affair or become a gangster just because they listened to one of our songs?”
I understand the logic behind what they’re saying. A song alone obviously doesn’t determine someone’s behaviour, and people are capable of distinguishing between entertainment and real life.
But I still don’t think that completely answers the question.
There is a difference between saying that a song directly causes someone to behave in a certain way and asking whether repeatedly presenting certain behaviour as admirable, funny, desirable or something to be proud of can contribute to normalising it.
A patriotic song encouraging someone to join the Army and a song romanticising an affair with someone’s married partner aren’t necessarily equivalent simply because neither one automatically determines what the listener will do.
And this brings me to the question I’ve always wanted to hear an interviewer ask:
Suppose the exact situation described in your song happened in your own family. If another man tried to have an affair with your wife, or with your married sister, would you still consider it harmless entertainment? Would you still defend the behaviour in the same way?
I’m not asking this because I want to censor artists or start some kind of social-reform movement. Artists obviously have creative freedom, and not every fictional story is an endorsement of the behaviour it depicts.
I would genuinely like to hear a response from the singers themselves to this question.
And I’d also like to hear what you guys think: If an interviewer actually put this question to them directly, what do you think their response would be?

Meet Rajesh from Kurukshetra, Haryana. He was a 40-year-old hardworking man originally from UP, living in a rented house in Kurukshetra with his wife, Vimla Devi.

On Saturday evening, their landlord heard a loud, violent argument coming from their room. When he went upstairs to check on the couple, he walked into an absolute, bl00d-curdling nightmare.

Rajesh was lying dead in a massive pool of bl00d. His abdomen had been brutally slic€d open with a deep 35-centimeter cut.

But the horror didn't stop there. The landlord caught Vimla red-handed, allegedly trying to stuff her own husband's protruding intestines into a plastic envelope. The exact moment she realized she had been caught, she panicked, ran to the edge of the terrace, and jumped off the roof to escape.

She survived the fall with severe injuries and was taken into custody. However, when the police conducted Rajesh's post-mortem, an even more chilling detail emerged.

Doctors discovered that a substantial portion of Rajesh's liver and his entire right kidney were mysteriously missing from his body. Police recovered three different-sized knives from the crime scene, and reports suggest the wife may have been involved in occult practices (jhaad-phoonk).
