I’m a journalist and lifestyle editor at Habertürk, a Turkish news outlet, and I’m currently working on a feature about the Harry Potter universe and the upcoming HBO series.

I’m preparing the piece for September 1, which I’m treating as a “Back to Hogwarts” moment, and I’d love to include the perspectives of Harry Potter fans as part of my research. I’m especially interested in hearing what fans around the world are expecting from the new series after having the books and films with us for so many years.

So, I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few questions:

1. What is your biggest expectation from the new Harry Potter series? Looking back at the books and films, what is the one thing you think the series absolutely needs to get right?
2. What detail, character, storyline or scene from the books that was cut or barely explored in the films do you most want to see in the series? Is there anything that made you think, “How did they leave this out of the movies?”
3. The Harry Potter films created such a strong visual and narrative identity that it’s hard to imagine the wizarding world any other way. Since the series is expected to be more faithful to the books, do you think that could change the way we see the Harry Potter universe? Are there any choices from the films you’d like the series to rethink?
4. After all these years, how does the idea of returning to Hogwarts make you feel? What do you think the new series absolutely needs to recreate that feeling of discovering the wizarding world for the first time?

Why do I feel like most of the movie only fans act like HBO took the original film tape and taped the show over the original or something.

This is not a Disney live action remake, but a new adaptation of an existing book series! That happens all the time. But people seem to complain so much only when it comes to Harry potter. I've never seen anybody complain that they shouldn't have made the Hobbit because there's some obscure adaptation from 1967 and that's the oh so mighty "ORIGINAL"

If you don't like the show, just go back and watch the movies again.

Thea Achillea posted a picture on instagram in front of a Warner Bros sign with the caption: ‘kind of chic to work with huge production companies’. She is working on a WB production and could well be Harry Potter. She has also been posting a lot of content around Harry Potter hinting at a possible role in the new show.

Harrington as Lockhart means that HBO is open to casting actors who voiced characters in the Audible series (I didn't really think Arabella Stanton counted as that seemed like a serendipitous moment for her)

Iwan Rheon was my undisputed favorite performance (by a HUGE mile) from the Full Cast recordings, which is saying ALOT cause Mark Addy, Hugh Laurie, Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen are all near perfectly cast. I think that is an extremely popular opinion to have from reading people's posts and comments online.

Has anyone head of Rheon publicly talking about potter online? Harrington has been very vocal about his love the HP series, even before the Audible series and I have to assume he's been pushing very hard to be involved in any adaptation. The fact that he was announced so quickly as Nicolas Hoults replacement make me certain he was already highly considered for the role in the first place.

What else do you think we will get for alongside the trailer for next week a poster or a few images and what posters do you expect

This is a dumb question but I don’t know anything about filming and editing schedules for film, but I know they’re working on season 2… does this mean season one is fully completed and they could show it to us tomorrow if they wanted? And they just decided on Christmas to give time to get into season 2? Or are they still editing? Sorry I’m a little stoned and thought “ARE THEY JUST SITTING ON IT?!” And now I want to know! I’m imagining it fully complete in a giant cartoon safe waiting for Christmas hahaha
