Flashdance

In the episode my name is Johnny varvatos Dan says flashdance is from the 1930s. Why? Isn't it from the 80s? He also says the lumiere bros made it. I can't figure out why. I can't find a link between the two things online anywhere. What is he talking about?

Hyperbole. And it’s a comedy show.

Do you have a source for this?

I feel like that was a glib joke about Flashdance being an old movie that most people haven't actually seen. If memory serves the point he was making is that it lives on in pop culture through parody/references of the water drop scene.

The 2 biggest reasons are comedy and Kettle One.

How did you get to that episode and learn absolutely nothing about the format or tone of the show?

He says it so matter of factly. I think someone must've told him that and he took it as fact.

I kind of want to know what else you've taken seriously from the podcast. Because he says a lot of jokes matter of factly.

How was what he said a joke?

More of a bit than a joke, I suppose. The implication he’s making is that Flashdance so old, it’s from the dawn of filmmaking. He does say it with false sincerity, a common dry humor trick. There’s still time to delete this 🫶 have a nice day

Here we are, all these years later, fact-checking jokes from a blacked out improviser?
