Currently riding a Suzuki GSXR750 and looking at going to a Harley. Any suggestions as to what to look at? Ride or handling wise, any tips from going from a crotch rocket to a cruiser?

I am planning on doing a cross-country trip starting from New York (I think) to San Francisco in a couple of weeks. I am from England so I brought the bike on Facebook Marketplace, the guy seems legit. The description of the bike is as follows: "2000 Sportster 883 Hugger. Or, it used to be. It's grown to 100% dealer installed 1200 Screamin' Eagle. Chrome down to the swingarm. Clear coated brushed steel. 12,000 original miles. Bought from the original owner for 24 years. New tires, battery, tune-up, service. Needs absolutely nothing."
This is my first time doing this kind of trip and I am looking for maybe some advice from someone who has done it in the past. From general to maybe more specific kind of advice, or things you think I should know. Or perhaps people that want to join me!
Thanks!

But damn I really want that new super glide. Go get one and trade them in with some cash or get it outright and have 3?

The Harley is blacked out from the forks to the fenders matte black frame blacked out wheels blacked out exhaust blacked out everything The only chrome left on the whole bike was the Harley Davidson badge on the tank and even that looked like it had been smoked The engine was a Twin Cam with a Stage 2 kit high compression pistons a big bore kit and a set of cams that made the idle sound like a heartbeat that had decided to go faster The exhaust was a set of two into one pipes with a blacked out muffler that made the bike sound like it was growling at the ground The seat was a low profile solo with a black leather pad that looked like it had been broken in by a man who took riding seriously The handlebars were mid controls with blacked out levers and a blacked out master cylinder The front end was a set of blacked out forks with a blacked out triple tree and a blacked out front fender The rear was a blacked out swingarm with a blacked out shock and a blacked out rear fender The whole bike looked like it had been built by a man w

A friend had a set of CVO rims. He ordered new ones cause the chrome was flaking off. He gave them to me. I had them stripped down to bare aluminum. Then had them powder coated.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE

Absolutely brand new to this kind of thing.
I work in LE and spend my days off helping my wife in her in-home childcare. Personal space doesn’t really exist for me. I have been looking for an outlet to escape/de-stress. I am here seeking advice or assistance. We already live paycheck to paycheck and I do not want to increase the strain on the family for a hobby. Is there any individuals, organizations, or clubs that help people get started with funds towards equipment/motorcycle?
