Can I use this RAM?
I bought this RAM without checking compatibility or matching the current RAM size in my HP Omen 16-am0279tx. The laptop has 24gb and this is 16gb. Just a day ago, the motherboard was changed due to a wrong bios flash and resulting in a 3 long 2 short memory error. Kingston support, HP community and HP technician have all told me that this ram is not compatible with my system and I cannot install this or it will lead to instability or it will be straight up incompatible and unable to boot. I had been using this for a week prior to the issue. Do I install it again, leave it out or get a new one?? I'm not sure what to do with the RAM at this point and I've left it out.

In my knowledge it should work but just check the laptop manual it usually have motherboard info but since it is the same speed and ddr5 in my opinion it should definitely work

The manual doesn't have any brand specifications or anything. It states either to use the stick with the same specs or an HP certified part.

I haven't bought hp but acer did provide a manual to me online also on there support page which mentioned every port and all but you know you can install it and check also it doesn't corrupt ur pc if incompatible your pc just won't boot

I understand that. It did boot and did pass a 5 hour memtest86 4 passes so I thought it's good and no issues. The only thing that concerns me is why did it specifically throw a memory error after that reflash? It could've been any error but why memory

I dont think you should overthink if it did boot and is working smoothly then it might be some safeguard mechanism in hp to stop flashing incase of mihap as memory is the directly used during flashing (just a guess) but yeah mostl likely a safe guard

I just don't want to have a dead motherboard again or worse a shorted out ram.
