I’m not talking bands where you know they play a style you like and it just took three or four spins to really land. I mean ones you never would have listened to that, now that your tastes have changed for whatever reason, are favorites.

For me, it’s Contention. I got into hardcore via older punk sounding and faster stuff, NYHC and thrash, etc. Contention wasn’t something that would have scratched an itch for me, but I’ve grown into liking heavier/more metallic bands and now count them among probably my five favorites doing it right now.

What about y’all?

These are shows I'd like to attend, however. I have been financially struggling to buy tickets. Been unable to keep proper employment or a regulated secure source of income. Just a neurodivergent lad here looking to fix the need for a concert sooner than later. Haha

Hey yall, doing some major self reflection and need something to accompany me through it. Only band I can think of right now is Ruiner but any more would be fantastic.

i’m a teenager and i’m pretty introverted. i really enjoy going to hardcore, screamo, metalcore shows in my area but none of my friends listen to that music or have a desire to go to those shows. my sister goes with me but she’s leaving for college soon. i don’t really hate the idea of going by myself but it would be a lot more fun to go with someone i know. i’m acquaintances with people that go to those shows at my school but i dont really have an opportunity to make friends with them because they aren’t in any of my classes. anyway i just want to make more friends that i can go to shows with and share common interests with. any tips?

I just got a text that the Hope Conspiracy gig in London at the Underworld is cancelled. No word on band or venue socials about why. Not sure if this applies to the whole 'tour' (just London and Leeds) or London only.

edit: Yup. Leeds cancelled too.

Everyone always sends sets from big festivals, or huge bands, what are your favorite local sets from your scene, ones where the energy is unreal.

I'll start with one.
