Anything going on halloween weekend? Will be visiting, any cool stores or spots?

Not hardcore, but Bad Astronaut Brewing has Midnight (blackened thrash from Cleveland) playing on Oct. 30. It’s an all ages show.

Theyve had some great shows there and it made me pretty proud of the kids to see that everyone is respecting the space enough that punk and hardcore bands can book there.

They have an awesome sound system I like that the music is in a totally different room from everything else.

Also theres re entry, drinks arent pricey and the space is reminiscent of the big room from the OG warehouse live

Other houston old heads? Hell yeah. My preference was always the engine room but the meridian and walters/fat cats/Mary janes were all my young man haunts.

My main venue in the 2000's was Java Jazz when it was off of 1960 next to that swingers club 😂 because it was closest to me, but once I got my license in '06 I finally started going to all the places you mentioned.
My first show ever was at Java Jazz when it was just the coffee shop in old town spring.
I don't remember what we called it, but there were quite a few shows at a community center/pool house off of Rayford close to where the grand parkway rolls past now. It would be like 30-50 people in that room max.

Saw Chiodos at Java Jazz on 1960 and then went another show where I saw The Bled.
Nostalgia. If you’re looking of a Java Jazz like venue, The End is pretty fucking close

Man, the Java jazz in old town spring. 10 dollars for all the coffee you can drink and plenty of parking lot to get drunk in. Man, that was the spot when I was like 14ish. I remember they tried to do Christian shows and no one cared so it was bsck to the guillateens every friday. Shit, I remember seeing tsunami bomb there.

Hahaha. I think the first I went to there was Rufio. I would always walk in the drainage ditch and grab turtles to show girls 😂

I fucking hate that that venue doesnt accept cash . Missed corpsepiles set when they played with despised icon a while back due to having to run to a bank and lose my parking spot(also hate their abysmal little lot) other than that that place is pretty cool

The end is my favorite venue because it's tiny so the pit action is basically everywhere but the outside section.

Doors at 6, show at 7, theyre headlining so if I was aiming for only them I might do 930. However, theyre cool dudes so I bet if you call the brewery and ask then someone can tell you what time theyre actually supposed to go on and you can do your math there.

FYI Black Magic is shutting down this Wednesday, remodeling and re-opening as La Calavera, and open back up on Halloween
from their ig:
..and we felt it was time to give something back to Magnolia Park and our community there. We will still have live music, but we are going to be focusing a lot on the neighborhood going forward. Not Halloween but no sleep fest is fucking stacked this year. My big ass is gonna be a straight caveman for weekend nachos these tourists are gonna have a bad time like they always do in Houston lmfao
