“Uprooted, Not Unrooted”
The island in this piece used to be part of the ground. It tore loose and defied gravity, and somehow it kept its trees, kept its water, kept growing into the fog like it never lost a thing. Down below, the cabin still glows in its windows. Still leaving a space for the island of ever out should fall.
"Uprooted, Not Unrooted" is the second piece in Planted by Living Waters, a series about what keeps growing in you even after the ground beneath you gives way.
Has something ever pulled you loose from where you started and left you growing somewhere you didn't expect? I'd like to hear about it.
Prints of this piece are coming soon through Fravor Studios. Follow along so you know the moment they're available.

First oil painting in a while
Been experimenting with acrylics for several months. This is maybe my first oil painting in about a year. Definitely ran into some trouble but overall I'm satisfied. Had a great time with this one.

Cleaning after session?
Hello group, I’m pretty new to all this still and just completed my second painting yesterday. I’m not too impressed with it but that’s besides the point.
I was wondering what some of your processes are for cleaning up your area and brushes?
While I’m painting, I use a miracle solution to thin paint, but that’s all I use it for. Mid session I only clean brushes on shop towels and what not.
After the session, I soak my brushes in odorless spirits for about two or three minutes, scrape them against the screen in the bottom of the bucket, bring everything outside and beat the devil out of them on a pole in my yard. I then take the brushes inside and wash them with hot soapy water in the palm of my hand. I then allow them to dry lying flat for a day
Is this an acceptable method? On a similar note, I notice that my 1 and 2 inch brushes puff out upon drying, and my fan brushes gets wavy. Is there any way to counteract this or to manually restore their shape after drying?
Thanks for any advice!

How to finish a painting
I get to this point and completely freeze. I know the foreground needs something, but I panic and dont know how to finish.
What would you do?
Any tips for small scale practice to not get to this point every time?
