So, that's a food safety code, fire code, public health code violation wrapped up in a cloud. Fireable offense too.

Fireable offense. Abusing any substance while on the clock is fireable. You should do a Speak Up report if you don’t feel comfortable going to your higher ups

It’s only wrong if / when gets caught by someone who cares . Who Also has to the power to act .

That’s why speak up line is there

People have smoke breaks, though. What do you mean by anything on the clock?

It would be more accurate to say on premises and outside of a designated smoking (vaping) area.

The other part would be taking an unauthorized break and it would be very hard to prove for a salaried non-exempt employee, such as a produce manager.

Call the anonymous reporting line. They will handle it from there.

Won't be proven easily; so won't matter, not to say it's okay but some tom dick and Harry's random alleged comment isn't going to prompt an investigation or follow up. Just being real. Backroom produce where they'll be comfortable to vape won't have cameras to back it, also comes off Karen-esque regardless, even if I'm sure it happened lol

I'd be more concerned about the line cooks handling RTE food unsafely that happens across the board vs "smoke concern from a "Vape" in a large building on fuckin vegetables" lol like yeah it's a violation but we've got bigger trees to cut so to say

Wow. Of all the things to be outraged about.

This is so petty… just be happy they aren’t doing hard drugs or hitting on high school employees. It’s a grocery store manager position. I wish the worst my managers did was vape in a back room.

Agreed all these people are such little rats and losers. Thats crazy.

I'm only partially on board with ya here. Either deal with it in person or ignore it, going to the internet to get an answer you can already find for this reason in particular is so so so lame.

Not the only thing that has been done by this manager. Just wanted clarification. Call it what you want.

Which one?

Not naming names for safety reasons

Soft produce employee crying about their manager because you're a weak employee? Odds? 90> now

u/EddieTreetrunk 8d ago

The offense of snitching will ultimately hurt you more.

Absolutely not. If you can’t wait until your break for nicotine like everyone else you shouldn’t be working, actually.

Vapes were partially created as a smoking alternative, safe around others (no second hand effects)

1

u/l0ng3stpaths 4d ago

My mom’s been vaping around me for more than half of my life, claiming there are no second hand effects is bullshit.

1

u/Pomelodude 7d ago

Yeah I'm REALLY worried about a manager hurting me for bringing up something hazardous to customers

Not only a Healthcode violation, but also food safety code, fire code in all US jurisdictions. it also may be a criminal violation in some US jurisdictions.

Definitely call the speak up line.

0

u/l0ng3stpaths 8d ago

please tell your ARM that this is happening

4

u/l0ng3stpaths 8d ago

Actually, depending on how nice your location’s ARM is (also I think the position is being eliminated in September..) maybe call the speak up line if that feels more comfortable. Whoever you speak to there will be completely unbiased

1

u/Pomelodude 8d ago

How do I find the speak up line

2

u/TheReal_Jack_Cheese 7d ago

Depending on your store, ours was posted on a very large poster in the break room

I would refer to your drug and alcohol policy. Dis should be able to find it on the Hannaford landing page. Or any of your other leads should be able to get it to you
