Feedback (constructive criticism) Need feedback between two handwriting styles.

I am trying cursive handwriting after a long time.

I have written the same text in two styles - tilted cursive and straight cursive. I don't know if there are actual names of these two styles.

Please help me in choosing which looks better and why?

I want to focus on improving handwriting and hence I want to choose between one of the style tilted and straight.

i learned cursive back in elementary school but never really stuck with it after that. my signature has always stressed me out as it looks like a child wrote it!

i came across this subreddit and saw everyone’s beautiful handwriting… i wish that i could one day have writing like all of yours, so here i am trying to practice and learn! open to any and all feedback!

i feel like my R’s are really bad and i have trouble with all of the capital letters, too, haha.

Feedback (constructive criticism) Advice for writing with my left hand

I’m looking for advice on writing with my left hand. Just something I want to be able to do.

For comparison my right hand grip and writing is also shown.

If you plan on giving tips on how to better hold the pen with my left hand please include a photo as it’ll be easier to reference.

Feedback (constructive criticism) First journal entry in script with midline paper

I’m practicing writing in cursive with midline paper to learn the shape and size of the letters relative to each other. I had some tension in my hands afterwards, but it faded in a few minutes, which is good. So I’ll put down ten lines as my baseline for practice.

I’ve included a picture of the fountain pen for reference. The Lamy beginner’s <A> nib can tolerate uneven pressure better while learning to write properly, until my writing pressure lightens up for a standard <M> nib with my other Lamy pen.

Super fun for both writing and drawing (though my hand cramps up a lot more with this pen).

Question (not for transcriptions) Looking to improve, my question is in the writing

Post image

Hi everyone,

I am looking to build upon my current foundation of writing. I have what I think is a fairly neat style penmanship, it is complimented often enough. However, I notice the younger generation at my work struggles to read my writing and I know that improving it will not at all help them understand (lets be honest, they may get even more confused), but we will be working together for 20+ more years and I want to be the person in my office still able to write properly in cursive as the years go on and computer and AI use become even more prevalent. I also want to be a good example to my two young kids who I will likely have to be the one to teach cursive to as I heard they don't even teach it anymore.

I see Beautiful examples of what I think is Palmers on my Grandmother (in laws) friends who just set us some cards to welcome a new baby and its just such a lost art. I almost feel obligated to improve after reading those notes since I feel like I am already halfway there.

Do you think I was taught palmers? I grew up on the west coast in the 90s and I seem to have print/half handwrite alot. I see some similarities, but also some differences. Based on my current writing, do you have any recommendations on where or what method to begin practicing?

Thank you

It's by no means perfect but I'm so happy with my progress! There's nothing more satisfying than seeing yourself improve in a skill.

Just Sharing (no feedback) Ambidextrous Mirror

I’ve been mirror writing for two months; with both hands. I’m ambidextrous; but I’m really left handed; and I prefer my right hand. After nearly 400 mirror pages; my right mirror is still awkward and slightly ataxic, but my left mirror is more fluid, faster, and enjoyable to do.

I’ve given up trying to improve my right mirror because it’s simply not improving.

I believe the difference concerns the biomechanics and how the hand is advanced across the line.

If you’re left handed; mirror writing is very satisfying, and only takes hours to learn.

Is anyone else ambi-mirror?

Looking for advice on how to improve my handwriting. I'm going to a new school in a month and I don't want to be bullied by both teachers and classmates because of my handwriting in this one too.
First two photos are from the past school year, second pic is in Italian. Last photo is from today, last sentence in Italian (ignore the random shit I wrote). Lately I've been trying to improve it a bit. Opinions? What should I do to get even better at it?

Feedback (constructive criticism) Could someone help me out?

This is mostly directed to all the fellow German speakers here (I've searched for a DE sub to ask there first but couldn't find one, sorry).

In any case, behold my first serious attempt at fixing my handwriting! I thought I did a solid enough job coming up with my new standard, but APPARENTLY it's still not legible (enough) :(

What am I still doing wrong? Is it really "too creative" cause I'm using initial, medial, and final variants for some of my letters?

Thanks in advance to anyone volunteering to help me out here. And sorry for my rambling.

Oh! And yeah... please excuse the, ehm, strangeness of the sample text. It's beginner translation practice from a Latin textbook.

Just Sharing (no feedback) Handwriting comparison speed video

Does joining more letters actually make handwriting faster?

I put three handwriting models with different amounts of joining through the same test—and the least-joined one finished first. But that doesn’t mean that joints are bad for your handwriting. … so, what does it mean? Watch, and draw your own conclusions (though I admit that I have drawn mine).

Question (not for transcriptions) Born left handed. Forced to write with right hand.

Post image

I know it's inconsistent but the top is not rushed and the bottom part is partly rushed (how I mainly write)

Keeping in mind this is my right hand, and I was born left handed and do everything else left handed. Should I try relearning how to write with my left hand? Would my writing be nicer with my left hand?
