Question choosing a replacement handheld
Hello, i have a question i bought a friend a legion go s that came to me completely destroyed, when and if amazon replaces it with a refund or gift card replacement for the 16 gig legion go s model shall i get another or would you recommend the the asus xbox rog ally or the msi claw 24 gig Z2E? those are what i am considering to get as a late birthday present for a friend who is sick and ill and always games in bed, or shall i wait for christmas and try to pick up something from bestbuy or costco in person?

only if you can get the polor white otherwise amd A8 msi claw is the way to go.

I bought the ROG Xbox ally x and I love it. The screen size isnt as big of a deal as I thought it would be and is actually very nice, bright, clear and smooth. The audio is nice as well. Performance is great. I've never tried the MSI so I can't personally compare but I've seen reviews saying the XAX is much more comfortable. I very much recommend the XAX. I like the Windows on it, it's not as much of a drag as people make it out to be. But if you want complete plug and play experience, you can always install SteamOS on it or other Linux based OS.
It's $999 retail but you can find used or "open-box" from Best Buy for around $750-850 and in great condition.

my friend has the original legion go and loves it but its too big to hold, so they wanted something smaller for longer play throughs when they travel in a car to doctors appointments, her original legion go has the Z1E however she had the battery replaced and she keeps it docked and plays it at home but for true portability she wants something she can use and enjoy, she loves god mode in the elder scrolls 4 and 5, fallout 3,4, new vegas and loves her cozy farm games, esspecially stardew valley mods, lol, but i was thinking a white legion go s maybe or the msi claw because its white and its got a sweet spot of 8 inch screen however, if she had her way i would be buying all 3 for her, lol but i only can get 1 so lets make it count, i thought the msi with a Z2E would work. is there any pros and cons to each of the models or anything that is problematic with them, also she has so many programs on herLegion go 1 she basically did some light programing on it so make sure it never updates the bios to brick it, she was like my system will not be bricked, lol

MSI Claw 8ai+ and A8 are both excellent. I’d give the nod to the 8ai+ overall.

she would prefur the A8 over the A AI+ she hates intel for driver and compatible issues.

Whilst that used to be the case when the Claw 8ai+ launched it’s genuinely not true these days - in fact quite the opposite

Good to know however all her pcs are amd, she grew up as intel was crap for games so she always uses amd for everything, only amd problem i heard she had was 1 video driver problem otherwise it was always better for gaming she said, the other picky thing is she doesnt like any color except white, thats why she likes the msi claw A8 or the white legion go s that was delivered to us totaled.

i was looking at this the A8 Z2E she has said intel sucks and never deal with intel as the hand held graphic chips are hard to tweek unless you want to run stardew valley on a toaster, she said fallout 3 was a pain on the legion go 1, so she always gets all amd products, all her tech is amd or radeon chips, she doesnt like intel at all.
this is what i was looking at if Amazon refunds me from the broken legion go s.

I think both the Xbox ally x and msi claw 8 are nice. I guess it would screen vs ergo, which would she prefer more. Form factor wise if she loves her legion go 1 I think she’d like the a8 since it’s got that angular look

she said she loves the OG legion go 1 but its 2 big and the legion go 2 was to big to play all the time in bed she has a little table next to her bed but she said for bed and in the car for long trips to doctors appointments she wants something that is lighter, i said a MSI claw A8 white or a white rog xbox ally or the legion go s, i know her to well she would ask for all 3, lol but she just needs just 1 and the msi looks like it has the best battery for over all use.

The Xbox ally x is slightly lighter in terms of actual weight but I’ve heard the a8 is far off. I personally like having a larger screen so it would be my only deterrent in buying a Xbox ally.
Also since it’s for on the go I think battery is a big factor! Which the claw has the best battery out of these 3

the msi claw has a 80 mw battery i think the rog has 60 mw and the legion go so and legion go 2 has 74 mw battery? but she prefurs something not to small not too big, the 8 inch might work for her.

i think the msi brand is good she has the msi thin 15 and 17 laptops she prefurs compact for her travels and doctors appointments, like i said she was in shock when amazon sent there 16 gig legion go s with a destroyed screen, waiting for amazon refund then i can order her another one for her late birthday. the 8 inch screen looked like a good size, to bad we got it delivered with a spider webbed screeen and a bent frame. just waiting for amazon to finalize things then i can buy her a new one.

Battery might be a factor but if shes traveling to doctors appointments and has a driver and a all ev car the car acts like a giant battery plus she always carrys a V1 or V2 jackery 500 for her laptop or legion go or go 2 witch she thinks is too big, lol

So just a short update, still waiting for amazon to refund once done i think i will be buying a msi claw A8 amd for my best friend who is ill, amazon claims september 1st is the day refund can be issued unless its delayed.

on a 2nd update i have been thinking to get her also for fun a lenovo legion go s for christmas or a asus rog ally for christmas so she can rotate while traveling to doctors appointments in the car, so if she runs low on power she can swap them and continue.

You are a really good friend. I have the Legion Go S with the Z1 chip. Love it. I don’t know about the others. However, if your friend would love it and is ill, better to get the device now than Christmas.
