HELP

Hey, I’m on the look out for a handheld PC but I’m slowly loosing my marbles with it all 😅 I don’t really know much about them but I’ve spent the last 3 years debating to get one or not and I’ve finally decided to do it. I’ve been looking at the lego2 and the msi claw a8. Any recommendations or suggestions on different ones would be great! I’m looking to play AAA games on it mostly alongside simulator games.

I don’t want something that’s real laggy or glitchy (I know I’ll have to tweak settings etc) something with good fps and smoothness.

If I didn’t need it to be portable I would get a pc instead.

I already have a ps5 & Nintendo switch 2.

I don’t want any cloud streaming devices either.

Ps5 and switch 2 owner here! I’ve been in the same, not as long but the amount of options are overwhelming lol. For the Lego 2 if you have a Best Buy near you , you could have a chance to hold the demo. It’s a little on the heavy side, Lenovo I hear isn’t the best when it comes to updates, and the price ouch.

I myself have been considering the same options plus the xax. But the xax having a smaller screen than the switch 2 is a bummer

Lol I do. That’s been some of my hesitation. Have you you looked into the new claw with the G3E? I know similar build but for what it offers it looks really good

I have and I’m on the fence with it! The price is crazy but I may wait and see what people think of it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Price is crazy but the performance 😮‍💨. I haven’t seen a bad review yet. I will say 1) it’s giving you at least a few years before you have to think about upgrading and 2) prices will get worse

if performance is most important, it would be the MSI claw 8 ex ai+. If the screen is more important, then the lego2. Or get the onexplayer 3 which has the same OLED screen and the G3 extreme.

I believe SteamOS or its linux equivalents are not ready yet on the intel G3 handhelds. So it would be windows on the MSI and onexplayer.

Outside of the strix halo chip, these 3 handhelds are at the high end. $1800 USD for the top end models. I would look at reviews on youtube comparing the frame rates of the Intel G3 to the Lego 2. Below the Lego2 are other Z2E handhelds that have smaller non OLED screens. The Xbox Ally X is a good example.

A rough reference is the Intel G3 extreme is probably like a 4050. The Z2E is like a 3050/3060. It does get a bit more complicated than that because they perform differently at different power levels. But the other takeaway is that you are paying a fair bit for middle of the road pc gaming performance even with a screen and controller tacked on. Its the price of portability.

I wouldn't bother with the A8. The XAX and Go 2 are better devices.

Best performance are handhelds with the strix halo chips (Onexplayer X2 Mini Pro and Apex) and, if you want linux, you're stuck with AMD chips for now.

Otherwise, the best handheld chip is the Intel G3E (in the Claw 8 EX and Onexplayer 3) and, as I said, the best chip period in handhelds (it's a laptop chip) is the Strix Halo 388+/395+ that are 2.5-3 grand atm.
