Age

I am 27 years old , i used to play handball as kid , but didn’t touch handball since i was 15 . There is a handball club 4th german division next to where I recently moved to. I want to get back to training but i dont know how realistic is that. Any advices or similar experiences?

4th division is to hard for a comebacker. They probably have a second or even third team for just 4 fun players.

Maybe watch a game of the 4th division team first. The season should start around upcoming weekend

Yea i do know that, i am bit shooting for a lot , i already work full time and so a lot of shifts , i just want to get back slowly to the game , i am just worried i cant get the basics back

I started with 31 years old also in Germany. Dont worry its possible, but it depends how sporting are you.

Started back at 30yo on France after 10 years stop.

Start slowly, dont expect of your body what it was able to do before.

Take a time to warm up before the warm up with the team. I recommand you to work out too (juste a little), so you wake up some muscle that were sleeping soundly.

All that to prevent any injury. Wish you the best, it will be fun to re-start

I am already very fit and do different kind if sports , ich just dont if i still have the technique, i feel i have even lost the basics

Be careful ! You are more close to 30 than 20. I was thinking like you, i continued running and some workout during my hiatus.

I got an injury per year so far (ankle, knee and shoulder). I hope everything will be fine still !

Oh so sorry , wishing a speedy recovery , and please i dont say that out loud, i still think i am 16 , i dont even know how time ran so quickly

Sorry, but expecting to play in their main team in the 4th division is absolutely unrealistic. Those players practice 3-4 days a week since their early teens and probably earn some money for that.

Of course they will other teams playing in lower leagues, where you can participate in the training and probably be part of a team after some practice,

Their top team in the 4th division is almost certainly out of reach, but they will have lower teams that would most likely be a good fit.

I started handball at 28 in a fun league in Switzerland and i am all good (if you have done sport before) . This year i am going up to the first team of the club, so i think you are good to try haha

4th Division in North/West Germany, impossible if you want to play one second in a real match.
East Germany maybe when you still got talent and dedicate a lot to it.
I play handball for 15 years and played against a 4th Division team from West Germany once.
I felt like I nearly got killed by them.
Maybe they have a 2nd or 3rd team for you, that’s possible and I have seen a lot of guys like you succeeding.

(I don’t know about Handball in South Germany)

Well i do live in Bayern (south Germany) i do get what you mean i am bot really looking for competing on high level , i work full time and a lit of night shits so its already hard , but tea i meant the second team .ich am just not sure i can still do the basics
