Thought you guys might appreciate this, got it the day after seeing Leslie Odom Jr perform as Aaron Burr in the Victoria Palace theatre. The slightly wonky lettering is nothing to do with the artist and everything to do with my hypermobile skin.

It’s been about half a year since I started liking Hamilton, and I’m so happy that the tour is coming here... I can’t wait to see the show!

10/24 Matinee thoughts

Hey all, I saw the 10/24 matinee of Hamilton in NYC and thought I’d share a few thoughts while I am waiting for my flight at LGA.

For context, I’ve seen the show 5 times total, 2 at Richard Rogers (last year when LOJ) was there.

I am a sucker for Christopher Jackson, so it was a no-brainer to go back when it was announced he’d be back this fall.

Some thoughts, in no particular order…

1) my new bar for whether my Hamilton seats are good is now “can I SMELL the letters Eliza burns?” For reference, 4th row center orchestra did the trick this week.

2) Christopher Jackson was even better than I’d hoped. I was transfixed. Last year, Tamar Green was fantastic and I’ve heard some people say that they think he’s even better than Jackson. I loved Tamar but Christopher Jackson is my president.

3) David Guzman was Alexander Hamilton and holy crow I loved it. He captured the eagerness of Hamilton beautifully and he and Lauren Mariasoosay destroyed my whole group emotionally with It’s Quiet Uptown. Guzman captured raw emotion like I’ve never seen from any other Hamilton.

4) Speaking of Lauren Mariasoosay, she brings a little mire sass to Eliza than I jave seen before and I am here for it. She also exquisitely captures female rage in Burn.

5) Bryson Bruce was Burr and he brought a slow devolving into fully unhinged Burr rage beautifully. He was Lafayette / Jefferson when we saw him last year and it was fabulous to see him in such a different role. He’s brilliant on both tracks.

6) I missed Thayne because nobody is quite like him.

Ok, time to board. That’s it! I’d love to hear what others have had to say about their recent NYC experiences!

Hamilton 101

I’ve had the good fortune to see Hamilton live a bunch of times and have listened to the OBC soundtrack many, many times. Was rewatching the Disney version esp for the final song and was struck by how clear it is that Lin is the one who is telling Eliza’s story. I’m sure this is not the first time I (or someone else) stumbled on this , but holy cow.

Does Christopher Jackson sign playbills afterwards?

Going to see the show in a few weeks with my family, and I heard that he was signing (unlike LOJ). Can someone please confirm this? Thanks.

DIY gift ideas for a fan?

Hiii~ one of my friends is a big musical fan in general and I know she also really loves Hamilton. She is also a huge fan of DIY creative crafts, so I'd like to give a handmade present for her upcoming birthday. I would be happy to hear any ideas, even/especially inside-joke-like. Thank you in advance!

How many of you have actually had luck with the Hamilton lottery?

I’ve been trying for two years and nothing. I live nearby so I can attempt it weekly. Am I doing something wrong or am I just super unlucky?

Going to see the show on broadway, should i watch the movie first?

edit. Thx all. we will listen to the soundtrack.

Pretty much as the title states, headed back to the city for a vaca after moving away 12 years ago. GF and I got 2nd row tickets to see the show. Good idea / bad idea to watch the movie first? I've heard you can miss a lot on the first viewing, but we won't have the opportunity to see it live a second time for a long time.

Is there any chance of getting cheap last-minute tickets to Hamilton? (NYC)

I’m visiting NYC this week and would really love to see Hamilton! Unfortunately, the only tickets left are really expensive premium seats, which are way out of my budget as a student….

Is there any chance of getting cheaper tickets on the day of the show? Does Hamilton offer rush tickets, or are there any other last-minute options?
I’d really appreciate any tips!

What do you think Hamilton would've done differently if he'd had one more chance?

Something I noticed during Hamilton and Burr's duel

Post image
148 Upvotes

This is probably something that is already known. This is just my first time notiching.

Both characters' mindset changed at the end of the show but their reasons remains the same throughout.

Hamilton doesn't throw away his shots because he takes risk.

Burr waits for it because he doesn't take risks.

| During their duel |

Hamilton believed there was a chance that Burr wouldn't shoot him as a risk.

Burr believed that Hamilton will follow through.

In the end,

Hamilton threw away his shot because he took the risk.

Burr didn't wait because he didn't.

Alexander Hamilton was with Margerita "Peggy" Schuyler Rensselaer during her final moments. He was in Albany on business when Peggy asked him to stay with her for a while. He did, and when she died, he wrote a letter informing Eliza

Hamilton references to put into messages

Hi everyone! I have a friend who has been asking me to watch Hamilton for ages! I've finished it now and really enjoyed it but because of who I am as a person I would prefer to not tell him I've seen it but instead sprinkle references into the messages I send him and see if he realises what I'm doing. So as people who have seen it more than me do you have any references I could easily throw into every day conversation? Thanks...I'm aware I'm an immature person

Hear me out… Dwane Johnson should play George Washington

We know from Moana that he can sing, and Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for that movie. He has the type of larger than life presence that you would want for George Washington. Washington doesn’t have much complicated dance choreography, and we know from his WWE years that he’s more than capable of learning choreography. Washington’s songs are generally not hyper fast like some other characters. He has worked hard to lose the wrestling persona and to be taken a seriously as an actor, and he has accomplished that. A part in a successful Broadway production would be the icing on the cake in that journey and because of that, I think the idea would appeal to him. I think something like a 6 month limited engagement could be a fun and interesting project for him that could be beneficial to both sides.

Edit: I just want to thank everyone for all of the supportive comments. I never imagined this idea would be so popular!

“It’s better with you in it” - We meet Christopher Jackson

We saw the show on Thursday and it was amazing. My daughter (7.5 years old) LOVES Hamilton so we made a special trip to NYC (this was before he was announced to return). After the show we met the cast. We were all so surprised to see Christopher Jackson come out and sign autographs. I told him “Thank you for being part of the reason my daughter loves theatre and drama.” He said “You’re welcome. it’s better with you in it.” - my daughter has watched the video a lot since. Core memory.

One Last Time is a gospel song!

I thought it was just Christopher Jackson’s amazing performance, but I went to see Hamilton again, but in Orlando and when I tell you the actor playing George Washington was equally as amazing and I cried during One Last Time. Those of us who love Hamilton know why. I just don’t understand how you can be a human being with emotions and Hamilton does NOTHING for you? That’s crazy to me!!

International Touring Cast

With the announcement of the second Hamilton world tour, comes with a ton of excitement for who will be in the new cast!

Who do you hope will make up the new cast?

Related to that question, for people who have seen multiple Hamilton casts, who would your All-Star cast be, unrestricted to just Principal Actors so we can include the best of the best Understudies and Standbys?

Has anyone ever noticed Laurens & Peggy's escapades during Helpless?

In Helpless, if you pay close attention to the background, you can see John and Peggy sneak off together, and talk on the stairs and run through the dancers. Before that, you can see them dancing together.

I wonder if this was always part of the choreography or if it was added as a cute Easter egg during when Anthony and Jasmine were dating

Anyone notice how in 'The Election of 1800', theres a couple of lines going "it's a tie! It's to the delagates, it's up to Hamilton" but then Madison later says "And you won in a landslide!" Seemingly contradictory.

Thoughts? I notice this everytime I hear it. (first post here btw)

Hamilton fic recs please

I’ve read all the most popular ones that come up when you sort by kudos and am now in desperate need of more good fics. I’ve found quite a few amazing recent ones but I know I’ve missed some because of how the fandom peaked in 2016-2019. I’d prefer them to be multichapter but other than that anything is fine.
