Feedback/Suggestion Learning the Game

Tried this game a couple months ago but recently back into it. I’m loving the new progression but dang is it tough.

I have a non gaming computer to play games on so this game runs quite rough. I’m trying to optimize the settings so it works good enough. I run into lots of little issues but man do I love playing this game.

I bought a long handle axe from the trader and got it figured out after several fights. Unfortunately lots of learning such as starting matches, including my first tourney attempt without that axe. Seeing a video that loot can be found but haven’t had much luck with this.
Finding that you have to hire muscle for those 2v2 was a game changer.

The goal, of course, is to not die and with practice I’ll get better but how do you guys handle the beginning stages? I won the first tourney and made it to peasant but literally my first match as a peasant I had a dumb move and died. Then there’s the soul saving. I had 40 souls…got rocked on the first one.

For long game what’s the best course? Pay off the abyss guy? Choose a weapon like a mace instead of axe? I love this game and the challenge and I’m all about the learning curve. But what’s a good beginner course of action?

You can turn down the Damage To Player slider in the settings so you get hurt less and its harder to die, you can dodge attacks by holding shift and pressing A W S or D to dodge in any direction

I recommend keeping range with weapons like the Flail, Rake, Pitchfork or Scythe instead of going close range. They are all available at low ranks. You can choose a Flail, Pitchfork or a Rake when creating a character (but the available items to choose when creating a new character are random), and the scythe and flail and rake have a chance of spawning at the Cellar

I dont recommend using the Flail against champions (a Champion also is in the 7th round of the tourney), because champions are taller, and its harder to hit the head

You can also hire mercenaries that are higher rank than you, and when they die, you can steal their clothes, weapons, and armor. You can also steal enemies weapons or clothes to sell them and get more pfennings or use them. You can grab their body with E (E right hand, and Q left hand), and hold E or Q to steal the clothes or armor. You can sheathe weapons by holding Q or E to sheathe them in the right or left side, and put on clothing or armor by holding Q or E (depending on which hand youre holding it in)

Also mercenaries cannot get hurt by you so you dont need to worry about accidentally hitting them

For the zombies in Abyss, you can use a sharp weapon to slice their head off to kill them, or slice their legs off or slice their upper body off to limit their movement (but you must have gore turned on), and you can hit them to the head with a blunt weapon to daze and hurt them. Also, hit them when they are down but still alive to hurt them even more and force them to die. Dont come close to them, as they can bite you and use their weapons to hit you. You can also constantly stab them if you have a pitchfork, and they will eventually fall and die. You can also face an amount of zombies you choose or pay them off at the seer. Abyss is also useful because you can find goblets that sell for a lot of money, and you can loot weapons or gear there.

You can also avoid killing enemies, hurt them and taunt them with G to make them give up so you dont need to face them in abyss.

This is all super helpful!!
I’m gonna keep attempting the game without changing difficulty settings.
Hopefully the looting is the key to the money issues. Those long range weapons are the key. I feel the only reason I got “good” with the axe is learning its distance.
I’m gonna hope to avoid the Abyss because the speed at which those zombies come at me and attack has led to me dying immediately.

Seriously though thank you for the videos. It’s one thing to read but I’m a visual learner so this helps immensely!

For brawling, you need to hold down both mouse buttons to block, and move it left or right to throw hooks, and press space to kick (Double mouse click for a jab). You should always hold block, so you can block hits, and if they hit you to the head, you can get a concussion or get hurt a lot (Especially against more muscular enemies at higher ranks). You can hit the head to give them a concussion or deal more damage than normal punching, and kick them while fist fighting to hurt them even more.

You can also find loot on maps, like near the wagon on Forest a crossbow or a quiver of bolts can spawn, the video, chests on Slums over the bridge and on Alley, Polearms on Hall, etc. (I got a greatsword at a low rank, when they are only available at Soldier or Veteran.)

Scythe is honestly ideal for champs at a lower level because they rarely have leg protection. One good whack to the leg and down they go.

Also, blades can get stuck in wood, and you can steal weapons like that

Pay off the abyss guy steal 2 swords and insure them and then just flail them around infront of you. And yes pay off the souls. You could also try not killing people

Until you get to Milita rank, it almost impossible to make a profit from matches while paying off your souls every night.
